Mr. Handyman of South Austin/Lakeway

You have all seen the commercial where the Dad puts together the play set. This was going to be me without the help of Mr. Handyman. They were AWESOME. The guy was very skilled and worked to ensuring that everything was perfect. I would strongly recommend this service to ANYONE that needs professional help around the house.

They have been so easy to work with so far, so professional and considerate. I especially like Don and Jim. My trim project is going smoothly and quickly. We have had such bad luck w finding good renovation service so I feel very lucky to have finally found them! I plan to use them for the rest of my projects.

Had a problem with a pocket door that was off the track and in a difficult place to repair. David Collier was sent out by the owner Gary to address and repair the problem. I have to say, both of them impressed me. David did an outstanding job to assess and repair the door. He did great work, caulked the trim and cleaned up his work area so I didn’t have to. The entire job was completed in about 3 hours from beginnng to end. I’d definitely reccomend and use them again for any job, large or small.

David came out to help us hang some lights, fix a light and hang some curtains. He was professional, courteous, and efficient. Great experience and will use them again.

We used Mr. Handyman last week. David C. came over to perform a variety of around-​the-​house odds and ends we didn’t have the time or skill to do. In four hours, he fixed our malfunctioning bathtub faucet, repaired several holes in the drywall, fixed the broken closet door, and repaired the stopper on our bathroom sink. The work is immaculate, and he was very nice and I didn’t mind having him in the house. We still have a few more things on our to-​do list, and I plan on calling Mr. Handyman to finish the job. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

We needed someone to install a baby (doggie) gate and do some minor repairs before we left on vacation. I mistakenly believed that hiring Mr. Handyman would be the «safest» thing to do and I thought I was prepared for the expense of going that route.
The man who came to the house was very nice and polite but he was completely incompetent. It took him 45 minutes to read the instructions and then more than 2 hours to actually hang the gate. It was a complete disaster, leaving holes in the walls and banister (some he repaired/​filled). The gate opened out, knocking you off the landing when you opened it, it was not level, and it was installed on the outside of the step.
After charging us $ 266, he said that he was available to come back out the following day to re-​install it (for the standard hourly rate) and finish our list of repairs. We declined. My 17 year old son came to the rescue and installed it correctly — in about 45 minutes, including reading the instructions… though, that cost me almost as much as Mr. Handyman :-)
It was quite a frustrating experience and I was truly disappointed that we never received follow up communication inquiring about our satisfaction with the service.
I recommend completely avoiding Mr. Handyman South Austin/​Lakeway and looking anywhere else for handyman services.
