It’s not the Ritz, but this place is not that bad. Clean room and bathroom & friendly staff. The bed was comfortable. It wasn’t a loud hotel (as other reviews mentioned). Our experience was pretty darn good.

All I can really say «this place is horrible!!!» I have stayed at A LOT of hotels, and this is the worst. It’s dirty, it’s noisy, breakfast is a joke (coffee was disgusting) that was the only thing I felt comfortable trying. The location is scary, I did not feel safe here!!! I would only stay here if it’s the last hotel in Austin.
On a good note; they take pets. That’s the only reason we stayed here.

This has to be the worst hotel. Do not stay here!!! I drove in an the exterior was terrible, there was trash all over the place, I saw about 3 mattresses outside by the dumpster which visible in the parking lot. There were a group of sketchy looking men hanging around another dumpster. I walked into their lobby and it smelled like they there were chemicals trying to mask a horrible odor. The front desk attendant gave me my room key and off I went, to my room. There were beer bottles and pizza boxees on the landing of the staircases and the staircases were covered in gunk. I opened my room door and my room was filthy. The beds were undone, trash and food all over the floor and the bathroom was just as bad. I went back downstairs and requested to cancel my reservation and she asked why, I simply told her that the room was filthy and she told me they have new housekeeping who lie that they have cleaned the room. She did not apologize but offered me another room which I declined. I left and went to a Wyndham, yes they are pricier but it is worth it.

We had stayed here Thursday, the room was reserved since earlier that morning for us but when we got there at 5pm the room was still not ready (cleaned)
They called the housekeeper to immediately do our room and said 15 min wait. We hung out by the pool for at least 30 mins and when we went back the room was STILL not ready. They called again and then it took an additional 20+ mins. By the time we got there, the only thing that looked clean was the towells and the beds were made. It reaked of cigarettes (*KEEP IN MIND WE HAVE A ONE YEAR OLD WITH US!*) and the bathroom stunk and ther were flies and fruit flies EVERYWHERE! We had thought the roomkeeper had left two cups of vinegar to attract the flies, but when the housekeeper came in the next morning to make up our rooms she was APPALLED especially of the vinegar cup with flies all over it. There was fruit flies all over the pillow. I did not feel safe letting my baby crawl. Also, they raised the price on Friday to $ 150 for a night when it was $ 80 the night before, I understand weekends are higher but that was ridiculous! I even told the guy at the front desk how disgusting the room was with the flies and that’s when he had sent the housekeepers (I had requested a different room but I didn’t get one)
So that’s why they are getting 1 star. I paid over $ 200 for less than two days at a GROSS hotel. No partial refund offered even though the housekeeper reported the other housekeeper and said it was GROSS and I shouldn’t be paying big prices for such a piece of shit.
It would’ve been zero stars otherwise. we were seriously concerned we would find a dead body the first afternoon when we checked in it smelled that bad plus the flies :-/

We stayed here during the MotoGP race hosted at the Circuit of The Americas and this La Quinta was in a prime location as it was only a 10min drive. Although my room had major issues, Cathy was able to provide a solution for me and my friends. I understand this is definitely an older building but cleaniness was an issue. I had a great time in San Antonio/​Austin and definitely will be returning in the future to Texas.
Rating is based off Cathy and her amazing customer service skills and not the establishment/​staff.

Twas the night before last, when all through the motel, not a creature was stirring except for the bed bugs, Hookers, pimps and goons in the parking lot partying non stop all night. This place is by far the worst hotel in existence I have ever stayed at. Dirty, very dirty. Extremely rude front desk staff at 4:30 Sunday morning March 29^th. I can’t believe this woman is employable treating customers the way she does. Do yourself a favor and go some where else where loud ongoing parties in the parking lot are not a regular events and the management actually cares about their guest. Drugs and drinking until all hours of the night by a bunch of seedy noisy people is inexcusable. People need to be fired at this property. Head need to roll.

Update on past review: After many days of the incident I can now say that the way the employees were very kind after everything they accredited for the shirt and I am looking forward to my next stay at La Quinta overall the stay was nice just that sometimes if something happens to you it may ruin your stay. Overall the employees were nice got all the towels when we needed them and I am looking forward to coming next year to stay at La Quinta inn I/​35 In Austin Texas and the rooms were clean and everything. No smell no nothing.

Horrible place to go! Don’t go here many times I have gone to a La Quinta and I can say this is by far the worst experience ever and I will not be staying at any La Quinta that there is now matter what the price is. First of all some of the employees were a scam and corporate was not helpful once our incident went to corporate. I was staying there for the formula 1 race in Austin about a month ago for the Grand Prix. I accidentally left my shirt there once I checked out which was in the coat hanger. Once we noticed we immediately once we notice when we took the 3 hour drive back home. Then we called and they confirmed it was the shirt and everything, it was Polo Ralph Lauren. they told us to ship a package which costed $ 7.00 there and $ 7.00 back. So we did once they received it they sent a picture of the shirt which was completely different after we sent them of picture of the shirt and they confirmed it was it. Just to wrap up it went to corporate and corporate said once you check it it’s not our fault. So it is not a place I recommend to stay at stay at the hotel right next to that trust me it’s better.

Always nice when under stress to check into a place with a friendly person behind the counter. Chris has wonderful customer service and was very kind in showing me the room to ensure I was comfortable. 3 stars because of hair in the tub and on the floor in the restroom. I like to feel at home when paying for a place to stay. Cleanliness is a must.

This place missed out on the great corporate remodel of 1990. Between the foul odor in the room, the seizure inducing street light in the parking lot, and the naked Asian in the lobby, this place is horrible. As I write this I am looking at the damage to the room door from what appear to be numerous break ins or police raids.
God please let me make it through tonight.
If you want to stay at a La Quinta in Austin, choose another.

claims that late check-​in is covered, so no worry about losing your reservation. Either Priceline needs to better research the hotels it covers, or the hotel needs to learn how to adhere to Priceline’s promises.
We had a horrible drive to Austin. Everything that could have gone wrong, did: Faulty GPS that led us to every conceivable backroad full of deer, cops that pulled us over (but felt sorry for us to to the 4 hour delay GPS created). It was just bad.
We got to the hotel at 3 A.M. — 5 hours after we expected. Funny thing about La Quinta that was not mentioned: At 2 A.M., their system reboots, so if you’re not checked in before that time, they forfeit your reservation. No questions asked.
Bear in mind we were exhausted. The drive had not gone as planned. Priceline guaranteed us late check-​in. But because of La Quinta’s computer, it decided to cancel our reservation, and would not allow it to be reinstated.
Justin, however, is amazing. We told him that sordid tale of our drive out there, and he took pity on us, and found a way to get us a room regardless of his manager being a jerk. He did some incredible hoop jumping to make it happen, but he didn’t want to leave us high and dry, so he found us a room within the property, despite us being told it was sold out (I’d wager it was our original intended room that had locked us out). We had to pay extra, but it got refunded once we called Priceline.
The room was nice enough for our two nights. The walls, however, were paper thin. I heard a very animated conversation between some very vocal lady and a constantly meowing cat. After the first night we had, that was insane and unwelcome for the following morning.
The main manager is heartless. Their check-​in system is inflexible if (heaven forbid) some complication arises that forces you to be late, and despite what booking service you use promises you. The walls are not sound proofed.
Justin, however, is an excellent example of customer service and human compassion, and I hope that his service will be recognized. Seriously. Kindness really goes a long way, and it’s nice to see someone care about the customers when bizarre circumstances arise. The location was also very central and accessible to things. They have a decent mini breakfast bar.
I don’t think I would ever stay here again. The only way I would in the future, however, is knowing if Justin would be around to make sure things go smoothly.

Disappointing. As soon as we walked into our room, we noticed a musky smell. We asked for extra pillows that night and was told they didn’t have any to give because they were fully booked… that explains the near empty parking lot and vacant rooms.

To read the complaints from other posters make it seem like they stayed at a different place entirely. This is a good hotel. I have stayed at LaQuinta locations before (most recently in College Station, Texas, which I adored).
While this isn’t a newly-​remodeled location, it’s a good place. My room was neat and clean, and everything worked — showers, toilet, lights, everything. Loved the bed — it was firm enough and soft enough.
Service at the counter was cordial and professional — a nice guy named Justin checked me in, and a nice lady Deseree checked me out. Thank you both, if you’re reading this!
Normally I stay at Red Roof Inn South Austin but decided to try saving a little money. My one-​night stay was just under $ 100 including all taxes. And while other posters have correctly said the immediate surrounding area isn’t particularly pretty (there’s a closed IHOP next door that sits unused), if you need a good place to stay for a night, this is a safe choice.

Do NOT go here unless it’s the only hotel available in Austin. Even then I might drive to Salado first. I booked the wrong night at the Oltorf location and needed a room at the last minute and of course, they suggested this place… it’s just down the road so I figured it’d be ok. The Oltorf LQ isn’t 5-​star, but it’s decent. This place seems comparable, but dear lord, my non-​smoking room smelled terrible. Someone definitely smoked in it. When I called the front desk, she told me «all the vents are connected,» so that’s why it smelled. She was nice and brought me something unlabeled in a spray bottle to cover it up, but I found it a little ridiculous. But, all I needed to do was sleep there, so I stayed.
Alas, sleep would prove elusive as well. I was asleep by 11, but at 2:30 am I was awakened by a group of loud men yelling and laughing about their escapades with bouncers and niggers (their choice of words, not mine) at the bar. They re-​lived their entire night’s «fun» somewhere outside my room, then stomped around a room near me for about 2 hours. Luckily I didn’t have to be up at a particular time, so I was able to sleep in after they all passed out.
Finally, the hot water only lasted enough into shower to wash my hair, so my legs went unshaved today. #firstworldproblems I won’t be back to this LQ.

Pubic hair all over the bathroom. Im not sure what kind of cleaning goes on. I bet they just wipe or dust the surface, no disinfection.
Our room smelled like smoke even though it was labeled nonsmoking because it used to be smoking as explained by the front desk.
Breakfast– prepackaged muffins, bagels, cereal better than nothing. I guess.
I let management know and they gave me some compensation. They were apologetic.

Ok first off this is a retro fit location. Motel outside entrance. Most women do not like this style of location’s because less security.

Friday and Saturday night about 3am snd 5am doors slamming. Walls pounding.
Saturday morning somebody outside my door on their cell phone screaming. .where are you?! Where the f@%#k are you !?.At the top of their lungs. This went on for 15 min.
The bathroom light was out gor 2 days .you the house keeper wound say something. .
And yes I told them.
The location is in warehouse area. Off the interstate. Pretty kreepy at night.

I suggest checking in on Halloween because this place is a nightmare.
I was in town to visit a very ill sibling and this was the last thing I needed.

This is a decent place to stay if moving across country with 3 pets or crashing if your in town for a festival. Our room had a few interesting quirks… bathroom door wouldn’t shut all the way to lock it. This was the only private space to change in so if traveling with a friend you don’t want to get naked in front of, it can be a bit challenging as the floor space is not much bigger than an airplane bathroom. Not much water pressure if you want hot water. The bed sheets on my bed were ripped. But, just needed a place to crash while moving across country so it worked.

Solid hotel for a solid price. There isn’t much in the surrounding industrial-​type neighborhood besides the Days Inn and IHOP next door (and, uh, the out-​of-​business car dealership and Furr’s that flank the hotel), but you’re not far from many of the restaurants and shops that south Austin has to offer, so it’s no big deal. The parking lot is huge, so I can’t imagine you’ll ever have trouble finding a spot.
Our rooms looked as though they had recently been renovated, which was nice. The bathroom was just big enough for me to turn around in (typical), but it was clean, and the beds were comfy. A big flat-​screen TV and a coffee maker were the only amenities in our room (no fridge, microwave, etc).
Free wifi, an expansive free continental breakfast (cereal, oatmeal, bagels, fruit, muffins, ready-​to-​toast waffles, coffee), and a big outdoor pool round out the offerings here. There’s no fitness center, so if you like to break a sweat, plan to drive to the park and hit the trails.

We originally stopped at one down the road not too far from the airport. We pulled in hoping that location was the one we were staying at. Unfortunately, it wasn’t. We were still a few miles away.
I asked the front desk guy there how nice our location was and he said, his mom taught him if he didn’t have anything nice to say…
Pulled up to this location after finally finding it. Checked in with a very nice gal.
–Outdoor entrances (Not a fan of these).
–Rectangular Pool (No towels outside) and more like a hot bath, but its TX.
–No business center
–Continental breakfast.
–Small chinsy towels
Our room was ok. It looks as though it has been updated with newer carpet, bedding, window treatments etc. Basic room and decent for the price.
La Quinta’s are a crap shoot. Sometimes they are great. Sometimes average. Sometimes they suck.
This one was all right.

Really close to Congress and easy hwy access.
It wasn’t completely tragic. I would prefer to stay down the road at the first La Quinta which was way nicer.

US: Hey, can we get a couple towels sent to the room?
FRONT DESK: We only have one towel left.
Ok — I’ll be fair. It was SXSW. $ 800 for 5 nights is obviously a lot for an economy hotel but tis the season. I will say that the aforementioned front desk operator was nice enough to send us up a security guard with the towels when she realized that housekeeping had gone home for the day, so that’s nice.
The room was big enough for the four of us but not as big as we would’ve liked. The toilet made a weird screaming noise and the shampoo and conditioner came out of the same mini bottle.
The AC worked quite well, there were plenty of outlets, and apparently a pool — no idea where that was.
Everyone that worked there was nice. The continental breakfast had apples, bananas, cereal, muffins, bagels and a bizarre pre-​made/​packaged stuffed waffle full of syrup — not ideal but it’s something.
Biggest complaint — the wi-​fi. We had them restart it, unplug and plug back in and I just couldn’t get connected. One of my friends could but even that was slow as molasses speed for him. It’d be nice to have the wi-​fi that was promised.
But it’s something in a world of MEH. An establishment that earns the phrase «you get what you pay for» and sometimes when the city’s busy you have to pay a lot more than you should.

What can I say, too old and in a rough area. I need to start booking at newer and better locations. Been a long time customer and starting to see more and more locations getting bad.
