DO NOT trust this rip off con man. DO NOT. This jerk took thousands of dollars from my mother and did NO work for months. Months of nothing for what should have been a simple patch job. Attempts to contact to talk with him about my mothers roof have yielded nothing. Stay away from this scam artist.

Our experience: Dealing with Dutch Built Roofing owner, Beau W, Austin roofer, has been an. absolute nightmare. We were not able to do our patio extension because Beau, took our money. We have been going through legal channels ever since.
We received a legal judgment against both Dutch Built Roofing, Austin roof contractor, and its owner Beau explicitly for fraud in Travis County civil court in November 2015. Beau did not appear at the hearing. To date, Beau has made no effort to pay the $ 6,000+ judgment to us.

Dutch Built Roofing is a scam. I relied on Unilocal when I selected this company thinking that the positive reviews were legitimate. What I failed to do was search on line for «Beau Welch Mugshot» and «Beau Welch Ripoff». This dude has a long history of being a swindler. I signed a contract and paid a deposit for several thousand dollars. Beau Welch, the owner, started giving all sorts of excuses why they could not get started. When I asked for my money back he disappeared. Long story short, I will pursue every legal method possible to bring this individual to justice.
On a side note:
You know how people see faces in potato chips. Every time I scoop up after my dog I see this scam artist.

Sept 2008 Katrina hit and we had a damaged roof and over $ 50K additional structural damage to our N. facing walls and windows. $ 21,000. was a great price to replace the large roof, and his crew did it in a few days! I was so pleased that I let Bo Welch and his team manage the rest of the work …10 new windows, walls, ceiling, etc…
Needless to say, I was extremely satisfied and everything has held up perfectly after 7+ years! Dutch Built Construction does first class work for a very fair price! You’ll be happy using them!

I was the reviewer that Ed mentioned. We have also taken legal steps with this company because of the fact that we have not received a refund on a deposit given for work that was never completed. If you go with this company, you will regret it. Hire at your own risk!

To recap on my experience with Dutch Built Roofing and Construction the company was hired to do some repairs at a residence. Once He was given the deposit on the work that’s when his true colors were shown. The work that was done was sub par and communication with Beau on various issues of the projects were little to none as he is a difficult person to get in contact with. He always seems to have some issue that prevents him from performing the work in a timely manner. For us, these small projects were stretched out over a period of months. And some were not even finished/​started yet he kept the deposit on the work. When asked for a refund of money for work that had not been completed that’s when he disappeared I have been unable to contact him since by email, text or phone call. I would be surprised if he is still in the Austin area. I just know, given his history that I have found on the internet, he will just move to another location and continue to take advantage of people. Sad really.

Pros: Primary construction was completed quickly.
Cons: trash haul-​off took a long time.

Beau is great… His team is super efficient and honest, Had an insurance claim for my roof and they completed the job above expectation. The quality of work was way more than expected and we are in the process of having more work completed through him. I would suggest that anyone reading this review searching for a contractor, to use him, you will not be disappointed. I had 3 contractors bid to replace the shingles on my roof (hail damage). Out of the three, Beau from Dutchbuilt came back with a competitive bid. He explained the differences in the competitors bids, materials, and warranties so I could make a well informed decision. The work was completed in a timely fashion, complete with clean up. I am very pleased with my roof and highly recommend Dutchbuilt!

Dutchbuild recently came back to correct the previous work done and we are very happy with the result.

Beau is the co-​owner and master estimator for Dutch Built Roofing and Construction. After a local hail storm, I wanted to know if my roof was damaged and in need of repair. He was the first of several contractors to visit and bid. Beau assessed the roof then recommended only minor repairs to correct original installation issues in 2005 including a water leak. I signed his contract on 4÷10÷13, after my contract/​repair questions were answered, but about everything went down-​hill after that visit.
I believe Beau is honest but has a serious crew management/​quality control problem, complicated by poor customer follow-​up. Work was complete on 4÷27÷13 and paid the whole invoice ($ 2,028.43) based on the quality assessment (i.e. everything is great) of the project manager. This was a huge mistake!
I recently sent an email containing QC issues, with pictures, to Beau’s personal email and a shorter version to his company email. I also left several voice mail requesting follow-​up but it has been 12 days and no one has contacted me.
As a project manager for many years, I thought it would be helpful to itemize ‘Area of Improvement’ and ‘Lessons Learned’ but will not be using them for future projects including internal/​external painting or window replacement. Here are my observations emailed to Beau.
1) Multiple contacts/​missed call-​back to arrange (original/​follow-​up) repair date/​time.
2) While inspecting the roof, my neighbor said the roofing crew asked to borrow a saw. (My neighbor) cut the decking board to size but why would you go to the job site without a battery powered and/​or electric saw? The crew was not prepared with needed tools.
3) Pipe boots type was not initially correct. The crew manager showed me a different type of boot that required a complete replacement and not a ‘cover’. (The project manager) had the right parts in his truck and arrived 1 hour after they did. The crew was not briefed/​bring correct repair parts.
4) Caulking bead/​sealing was done poorly or completely missing in multiple sites. The crew performed sloppy repair.
5) List of repairs not checked against service work order. The crew initially forgot electrical service flashing/​caulking and is still incomplete as per my email/​contract. (Email: On the ‘Exposed nail heads at roof flashings’ picture: How will this and other flashing/​nails, that are not sealed and/​or lay flat be repaired? I remember the electrical service flashing needed fixing too. The electrical flashing is included in «all penetrations» comments and all exposed nail heads will be sealed not just those shown as examples in the photos.).
6) While I trust these items will be corrected very soon, I already gave (the project manager) a check (twice). Now wish I waited until the work was complete/​quality checked (by me).

This is my 2^nd project working with Beau and the Dutch Built team, and it won’t be the last. They’re a great partner to work with.
In this latest project, they:
* painted the entire interior (walls, ceiling, trim)
* repaired the roof
* repaired a broken fence
* install new flooring in the entire first floor
* installed new flooring in all the bathrooms.
Everything was completed on time, on budget, and I’m pleased with the work itself.
Beau’s also great about recommending materials that fit within a budget.
He recommended a new flooring material that fit within my budget, and it’s awesome. I would have never known about this product had it not been for Beau. You won’t find this stuff in a big box store.
Looking forward to working with Beau on another project.

We hired Dutch Built to enclose our open upstairs family room with a set of double doors. We wanted the finished product (doors, trim, etc.) to look like it was part of the home’s original construction, but it was kind of a non-​standard opening so I wasn’t optimistic. Beau looked it over, talked about it with us, and came up with a few suggestions we hadn’t thought of. He quoted a fair price and we said OK. Good move on our part.
He said they could do it in one day, and he worked around my schedule to set it up for a day that I had off work. Beau and his crew were very nice, very professional, and did a great job. It’s exactly what I wanted, solidly built, and it seamlessly integrates with the rest of the house. It really does look like it was part of the original construction.
Another plus in my book was that it took them until about 6:30 PM to finish the whole thing (It took a little time to track down the paint color that matched the other trim in the house). A lot of companies would have knocked off at 3:30 and come back the next day, forcing me to take off work. Not these guys — they stayed until the job was done. Also, we paid exactly what was on the estimate; there weren’t any tacked-​on additional charges.
Dutch Built came highly recommended from a friend of mine, and now I’ll recommend them to everyone too.

I had a strange request.

Beau Welch knew how to read between those lines. He has a good sense of humor and is easy to talk with about picky construction details. He is a thinker. He was taking a philosophy class for fun, because he could.
Half of my roof is flat and that can be an expensive re-​roof, and he had a creative solution. I appreciate that.
Beau listened to the whole story of how my tenant hit my house with her car and shifted an entire room 2″ thus creating a long fissure down the length of my home. That room saw daylight for the first time in 60 years for about 4 hours as it received new sheathing and felts and cover.
His guys were responsible, respectful, fast, and did not blare conjunto music while they were hammering and ripping and pounding.
My tenant’s Geico claim paid a minimal amount for the damaged roof and Beau and his crew worked quickly and kept the numbers reasonable.
I would like to work with him again. He can do all kinds of roofs, from metal to comp shingle to flat. His crew seems loyal. He also builds homes and does renovation projects.
I like a roofer who seems like he will be around a while, who wants to make roots here. Roots. Roofs. Most seem like they are riding out the latest hail insurance claims until they can bolt for the next tornado town needing new roofs. Not Beau.
I like a guy who can handle a strange request.
