Allen Mimms founded All Area Overhead in 2007, though Allen has been working on garage doors and openers for over 18 years, he was never satisfied with his employers’ business practices. One of the springs on my garage door was broke late Saturday night, and unfortunately, the following Sunday morning was Father’s Day. The last thing I wanted was for a Dad that should be relaxing on Father’s day to come fix my door! I had an extremely busy work week ahead, and it would be challenging for me to be available to meet a repair person during the week, so after reading the Unilocal reviews, I called All Area, hoping that there was someone working that was not a Dad!
Allen (the owner) IS a Dad, and after talking with me, he came out to fix my door himself, even though he hadn’t done any spring repairs since recently having shoulder surgery, and he had plans with his family for Father’s Day that day. This is really indicative of the way Allen approaches his business. He is such a kind person that he didn’t want any of his techs to have to come out on Father’s Day (he said they are all Dads), but he felt like I really needed help today. Allen clearly is focused on doing the right thing and treating people (both his team and his customers) well.
Allen fixed my door quickly, gave me some simple maintenance advice to keep my door working well, and said if I ever had any problems in the future, to please don’t be afraid to call. He said if I called with any future problems, and it sounded like something I could fix on my own, he’d try to coach me about how to fix it over the phone to avoid unnecessary service call costs. I’m a single parent, and unexpected repairs are not great for my limited budget, so this sort of approach is tremendously appreciated. I could not recommend Allen and All Area Overhead more highly!

My garage door was broken and I tried to fix it myself, which was a disaster. I ended up removing a panel. Don’t do this. :) Allen replaced the panel for me in March and also fixed the original issue which had to do with the sensors. Today, I had a sensor issue and again and he came back out and fixed it again at no charge. Great service!

Honest business. Earned my total trust. We needed to replace our garage door. At first we just did a quick google search and called a random number on the first page asking for a quote. The price from that company was very very high. Then my friend recommended me Allen’s company. We called and they needed time to check their data and inventory and got back to me. At the same time, we called a couple of other garage door companies as well. The quote from them was the lowest — half of the price from our first quote on a competitor from google search, several/​couple hundreds lower than the others. The next day, Allen came to our property and did an in person measurement to make sure the specifics we gave were accurate before ordering the door. He lowered the price a bit more because the actual measurements he got was 1 inch smaller than the number I gave him (the measurement from the first company who was going to charge me twice the price), which if he didnt tell me I wouldnt know. We schedule for the technician to come to do the installation. And yes, like other reviewer complained, the technician was late for a couple of hours and he explained that it was because the job at the other house was complicated than he originally estimated. But he did a good and clean job for us. It has been a couple of weeks now. The door and the remote have been working perfectly. I would recommend Allen’s garage door services to friends without hesitation, especially for someone like me, like simple and honest businesses.

I sincerely enjoyed working with Allen Mimms (owner of All Area Overhead). The conversations were relaxed and friendly. There was never any pressure to buy his openers or use his services. I called several places, and Allen’s business was the easiest to talk to by far. I bought my own openers, and All Area Overhead installed them at a very good price. His crew was friendly and professional, and paid attention to detail. I am very satisfied with their work.

Terrific customer experience. My garage door would not open and close properly, so I reached out and spoke with the owner, Allen. He attempted to help us over the phone (no charge). When that did not work, the next day he had Sabino onsite and he quickly fixed the door. The price was fair and the service was excellent. I highly recommend these folks. Thanks Allen.

Extremely friendly and accommodating. I called them on Friday hoping to get them to look at why my garage door was so noisy. I was hoping to get a Saturday appointment but figured I might have to wait another week but they said it wouldn’t be a problem.
My tech was Allen, and he arrived exactly when he said he would and went to work right away. In my case, all that was needed was a new set of rollers which completely fixed the problem. In 20 minutes my garage door went from sounding like a huge warehouse door to nice and quiet.
Highly recommended. The price was affordable and exactly what he quoted me. He did not try to sell me anything additional and took the time to show me the best way to maintain my door.

Like a lot of others on here I came home to a broken garage door. 2 vehicles we can’t get out, and 1 we can’t get in the garage. So I called another company first, but they were very busy and couldn’t come until Monday… uhh, that’s not going to work… so I called All Area next and they were courteous and fast! There was no hesitation in scheduling a time this evening and they showed up the time they said they would (early in fact… bonus) Sabino was out installer and he was super nice, and extremely knowlegable. In fact we are going to have them come back out and do more work for us. We will recommend these guys to everyone!

My roommate backed up his car without opening the garage. It was a disaster. I called up Allen and he was very helpful. He sent his associate for a quick assessment of the damage. It was simple and fair. The next day his assistant fixed the entire door. The job was well done and I had a big smile on my face.

I came home from work one morning to find our garage door barely opening. I called All Area Overhead and Allen scheduled an appointment with me that very afternoon to have someone come out to take a look at it. Turns out one of the springs needed to be replaced. They were very professional throughout the whole process and explained everything prior to proceeding with any repairs. A price estimate was given and all questions were answered. The very next day instead of the garage not opening, we could not get it to close. Once again I called Allen and he immediately came out that day and fixed the problem. Apparently our sensor needed to be reset. I am so thankful for his services and the professionalism Allen and his staff portray. I really appreciate the immediate response to our needs and definitely recommend him to anyone else.

Our garage door is ten years old and the spring broke. Of course, it came at the absolute worst time for us financially speaking! I emailed Allen and he quoted us a very reasonable price and we set it up for a few days later. He showed up on time and did an excellent job of all repairs! I have been having problems with my garage door opening when it gets cold and did not open this morning so I called Allen. His crew came out a couple of years ago to fix a broken coil. Allen said he could come over in 45min but ended up coming in 2min. He saw that my garage door opener motor needed an adjustment, made a recommendations of replacing it once it brakes but keeping it since it’s working, and showed me how to adjust the settings myself. He did all of this within a matter of minutes and didn’t charge me for his time.
I will definitely call on him again for my garage door issues!

Five star service with no second thoughts. I called the service after seeing the Unilocal reviews. The person who attended my call really wanted to know what the problem was so that he wanted to make sure whether the problem needed him to come over or I could do it myself to save money. Once I explained the problem to him (broken contact on the door that connects it with the pulling mechanism), he immediately scheduled a time to come over and look at it. After seeing it, he got the part that was needed and fixed it. Extremely helpful and on time and gave me tips to look for future problems and how i can fix some it myself. Also gave me a discount since I went through Unilocal.Will definitely call them again if I have problems with my garage door.

I called Allen late Sunday night because our garage door had a problem We were vey relieved when Allen returned our call quickly and said he would come at 6AM on Monday so we could get to work on time. He repaired a ripped off hinge which we didn’t think was repairable. The door has needed to be replaced as it is old, and we will be calling Allen to order when we pick one out. We used Allen a couple years ago and I am glad I kept the name of his company. We are very thankful for his expertise, trustworthiness and excellent customer service. Don’t know what we would have done without his fast response. We highly recommend All Area Overhead!

Allen and his guys have come out to work on our garage door two different times over the past few years. Both times they were very easy to get in touch with and scheduled appointments for the same day or the next day. Both times they showed up when they said they would and gave a courtesy call when they were on the way. Both times they fixed the problem on the first visit and did so economically. The spring on our garage door broke on a Sunday afternoon. I called Allen, and he actually answered the phone. Since it wasn’t an emergency (the car was outside the garage) he said he would be there first thing in the morning. That was fine for us. Later in the afternoon, Allen called and asked if he could swing by to look at the door to be sure he brought the correct spring in the morning. When he got here, he said he had that spring in the truck and could put it in right then. It didn’t take him very long to get the door back in operation. He also replaced several of the sub-​standard screws that were used in the original install, tightened all of the bolts, lubed everything, and adjusted the opener. Allen was the complete professional and was also very friendly and courteous. Absolutely amazing service!

One really cold morning recently, my garage door refused to shut when I was leaving for work. It would get a few feet down the vertical tracks and then go back up. After trying it a few times from the car and then the wall unit I gave up, closed it manually and left for work. Called the guy we had used for eight years who came out and said it needed a new motor. I decided to get a second opinion and ended up calling Allen who came out right away. Allen said when the aluminum tracks get so cold it’s harder for the door to traverse them, and it probably just needed a tuneup. He tightened all the nuts and bolts, lubed all moving parts, tightened the tension springs and said it probably had another 2 – 3 years in it. Hooray for all the honest pros out there like Allen — thanks!

I haven’t had previous experience with other garage door repair companies, so I was worried about people trying to rip me off. These guys were actually the second ones I called because the first quote was too expensive. AAO’s pricing is honest and fair to me. The repairman came out to my house right on time (try that with a cable guy!!). He realized that my problem wasn’t actually a broken spring as I’d thought, but a twisted rod as the spring had snapped off the wall. I only had to pay extra for the parts cost, rather than any extra labor. He even fixed a couple other issues without me asking! Now how often does that happen?

Allen Mimms at All Area Overhead must have written the familiar adage, «Be Brief, Be Brilliant, Be Gone.» One of my Liftmaster units had suddenly stopped working, and I feared the worst. But within seconds of arriving, Allen had identified the problem as a maladjusted stop setting in the motor. Not only did he correct the setting in a flash, he tweaked the other unit to prevent a similar problem.
His friendly, masterful, and no-​nonsense service was worth far more than he charged me. Brilliant!

I had been putting off having our garage door openers replaced for a while. One of them still sort of worked, so what’s the hurry, right? I finally forced myself to get it done, and checked Unilocal for a recommendation. All Area Overhead had super reviews, and I when I called, Allen offered me a time for the next day between noon and 1:00. I figured that would give me time to run my usual Monday morning errands before they arrived, and it did … even though they called to say they could actually get there by 11:30. Arriving before the window of time? I was already impressed. Sabino got busy, took everything apart and installed wonderful new openers, set up the remotes, and showed me how to use the equipment, all in less than an hour. It’s amazing how having fantastic new quality garage door openers can brighten your life … Thank you, Allen and Sabino!

Have had issues with my garage door on a number of occasions and fixed it to the best of my ability a few times until on Sunday night it finally was tweaked so bad that I called All Area about 7P.M. Spoke to Alan and they were still working another job but asked if Monday morning would work.
He gave me a timeframe of 10 – 12 and they not only called to inform they were on the way but were here at 10 so I didn’t have to wait all day. Had my door fixed, replaced the rollers and drums (which was the actual issue) quickly and did not over charge which was also a pleasant surprise.

Alan was great! Now I understand the 5 star reviews. He replaced my electronic board and also saw there was a problem with my garage door opener and fixed that. (LED lightbulb interference). Then he taught me how to use my car to open the garage door and told me the springs I had on the garage door were wrong and what setting to set it to, because I told him my dad could fix that. Will definitely call him in the future and tell my friends and family about Alan!

So my garage door literally fell on my car while driving into the garage on Thursday evening shortly after 7:00pm. I couldn’t close the garage and it was hanging low enough I couldn’t get my car out either. Turns out one of the cables on the door snapped.
I called All Area Overhead and literally that same night they had someone out to lift my door so I could get my car out! Then he went through the trouble of cutting the other cables so I could shut completely for the night.
The very next day they replaced the door at a very reasonable price! I would fully recommend All Area Overhead! They definitely came to my rescue and were amazingly professional as well!

A garage door spring going out is such a hassle. Called them at 6am and they were there by 8:30 and completed replacing spring and rollers in 45 minutes. Good customer service, fair price and fast. What else can you ask for?
