The lady who was doing my nails stopped in the middle of doing them to do another customers eyebrows. She knew I had limited time because I told her in the beginning that I have to leave by a certain time and she said that it was okay. She was also checking her phone every 5 minutes. They need to be considerate of people’s time and respect it.

Probably the most attentive gel mani/​pedi I’ve ever gotten. They spent over an hour on me and were so meticulous! Very nice ladies. They don’t speak much English but hey, you’re there for a good mani and pedi not a great conversation. Highly recommend!

The ppl who work here are nice but I feel they are inexperience and have no idea how to do a pedicure. The lady filed my toenails to short and didn’t paint my toenails well, I had nail polish on my toes. Just horrible please don’t waste your time!

Lazy people. Won’t do what u want them to do just cuz they don’t feel like it. If u want the most basic manicure… Then this is your place

I came here with my mom and sister to get our nails done on our last day in NY. This place is cheap and the technicians are very quick. I paid $ 28 for a mani, pedi combo including french tips. That’s a steal! Most of the technicians do not speak English and I have difficulty understanding them. They rushed us out as we were the last customers in the store. A week after I got home, my nail polish started cracking. I’ve been to better places, but these prices are hard to beat!

It’s simply the best! Very nice people working in here and does a lot of extras! I recommend all girls out there! Go to this place. They do it very well!

Clean salon. Pleasant employees. Ok prices. I have to give extra appreciation because this was my first time here and they did not try to up sell any of their special treatments– very uncommon!

My sister recommended this place, and I’ve been coming here for the last two years! I really like Tara Nail Salon. They offer 25 bucks for a mani and a pedi. I wouldn’t get my eyebrows done here, but I“m sure waxing jobs are great.

Came here today after work for a gel mani & pedicure. Was promptly seated and my pedicure was started within 5 mins of waking in. One woman was working on my feet, and another offered to start on my hands. Not generally my preference to have both done at the same time, but didn’t mind. 20 minutes later & some pampering, and my mangled feet feel like silk. Right after, my gel mani is underway… The massage I was given as my nails’ top coat dried was TO DIE FOR. Reasonable prices for being right off the train; and cheaper than elsewhere in Astoria where service is sub-​par… I will definitely be coming here again. And again. And again.

Blossom is so much better (and more affordable). I came here because blossom was all booked and decided to give this place a shot. First, they didn’t tell me about an extra charge to remove gel polish until I sat down. I have never been charged for this at any other salon but I understood because it takes time and effort. But I started to get annoyed when they started cleaning up for the day while I was still there including loud vacuuming and mopping the floor. I go to the salon to relax not listen to the sound of a vacuum for 20 minutes or to slip on the floor. I asked if they were closing soon but they were not closing for another 45 minutes so I do not see the necessity of cleaning while customers were there. They also clean the pedicure tubs before putting garbage can in the tubs so they can vacuum in those spots. I really hope but doubt they clean the tubs a second time when they are done vacuuming. Will not return.

NEVER get your eyebrows here unless you’re looking for some kind of punishment. I’ve never been to a worse threader in my life. Yikes. Please don’t go here for eyebrows. BEGGING YOU.

Tara’s salon used to be my go to but they don’t value my business so I’m no longer going there. I am a no frills kind of customer, undemanding, tip well but that’s obviously not enough.
First off the technicians vary widely in the level i experience and expertise. I’ve had many technicians who were ok, many technicians that act like they just started painting nails yesterday, over cut your cuticles, etc… also many of them communicate in English so poorly it’s hard to let them know what you need done.
But my last experience was the final straw. I went there with my roommate (who is Asian) to get matching mani/​pedis and the experience was awful for me. First we agreed to get our to get our pedis done simultaneously with our manis… and the technician starting my nails actually stopped doing my nails midway to serve someone else (the one serving my roommate did not). So I’m getting annoyed, because the whole experience of us going to the salon is to start and finish at approximately at the same time. I had to nag about this even though I hate being a pain.
Then finally the nail tech gave my roommate a complimentary massage, and I didn’t get one. This is not the first time I’ve gotten a mani pedi and noticed others getting complimentary messages and me getting passed over, hate to ascribe anything to race but it seems suspicious.
Now I’ve discovered Blossom across street I’m so happy. There are awesome, polite and respectful and can communicate with me effectively. They are my go to from now on!

I had a very nice pedicure at Tara recently. They put on a minty green mask on my legs while they start the pedicure then later do a nice job scrubbing and really massaging my legs and feet. I felt very pampered. I also liked their drying machines. This was my first visit and I’ll come back again

My girl Bishmita (I hope that the spelling of her name is correct!) is wonderful and I’m putty in her hands. She makes me feel relaxed and does fine work. Chi Chi, the girl who does waxing also does fine work. I cannot vouch for the other girls because I’m one of those people who has favorites. However, it’s unfortunate that many of the staff are rude to customers. I witnessed one girl sticking her tongue out at a customer (all the while energetically chewing gum) and has been consistently rude to many customers. It might due her good to understand that the world is a good place and that people should be kind to one another. Another point to the staff is to be respectful of the customers and to Tara who was kind enough to give them jobs when many people are out of work right now. The business is Tara’a and no one has the right to destroy it because of bad behavior. Unfortunately, many customers will leave and go elsewhere. Tara has a good business and for now I will continue to patronize Tara’s Nails. I hope that Tara speaks with her staff and and that she continues to thrive in business.

Decided to go here after that horror show at blossom nail salon! Across the street! Glad I came here! Great and friendly service! My nails, pedi and eyebrows came out amazing! This is my new favorite place!

Would have given this place more stars after my first visit, but after my second, no way.
Let’s just say after my mani/​pedi, which was rushed, I wasn’t given my massage while waiting for my nails to dry. Hello?! That’s the best part.
I sat there for 20 minutes, asked if the lady was coming over, and was pretty much ignored.
Still searching for a good well priced nail salon in Astoria… exhausting.

this is my go to place in Astoria when i need a manicure pedicure, massage or threading. the girls are the nicest around, believe me I have tried all of the nail places in the Ditmars area of Astoria. They have a ton of colors to choose from and everyone is super friendly. I have gone here for about 1.5 years and I don’t foresee myself changing places anytime soon.

It is the WORST NAIL SALON EVER. I’ve been here about 5 times. Three out of the five times have been a problem. This last time was by far the worst. The nail techs are hurried and sloppy and do not pay attention to what you want at all. They make mistakes and then get upset when you ask them to correct it. (Or may even try to charge you extra.) This last time the woman screamed at me in front of customers, told me to «stop eating her brain», called me crazy, and talked about me to other customers as if I wasn’t there. When I asked for a manager, they said there wasn’t one. I asked for the owner and no one would answer me who it was. The rude tech told me she was the owner (although the business license says it’s a male.) She refused to show me her (supposed to be displayed) license so that I could report her. (And this is a shortened version.)

I have finally found a nail after searching for months! Pretty descent prices, typical nail salon construction nothing fancy but their work is great, not rushed at all and lasts for about 2 – 3 weeks. The staff is not snotty or rude which makes getting your nails a pleasent experience. They have lots and current OPI colors, plus how can you go wrong with all those things and a massage during and as your nails are drying.
Just some advice def come during the week especially week night, they’re typically slow as for the weekend be prepared to wait becuase they’re always packed!

I walked into Blossom nail spa, stood there a few minutes, was completely ignored, so left and saw Tara as I was walking down the block.
They were super friendly when I walked in, and were able to do both my pedi and mani at the same time which I appreciated since I was under a bit of a time crunch.
It’s been over 2 weeks and my pedi still looks fabulous! Will need to head in to get my nails redone, but I think I’ve found my go-​to nail place.
