My Dog Needs A Walk

We are paws down extremely happy with Basia’s cat sitting. Basia has been cat sitting our cat since November 2015 while we’ve been away on a number of short or week-​long trips. Our cat was newly adopted since last November and at the beginning we were a bit worried at the prospect of leaving our cat while away. But after meeting Basia in person, we knew instantly that our cat would be in excellent care. We usually have her cat sit 2x/​day while away, and Basia is always on top of sending text messages/​photos after each of her visits so that we can rest at ease. We love hearing about what our cat has been up to! Basia doesn’t just come to feed our cat, but also truly connects with our cat, even picking up on her personality traits and playing with her. Our cat is playful and loves companionship so we’re happy that Basia enjoys being that companion to our cat. We are especially thankful to Basia for diagnosing our cat with tapeworm while we were away on a trip. Our cat’s symptoms must have really manifested while we were away and Basia was quick to inform us of it (even checked her poop to find a worm!). And we have Basia to thank for that. We are just happy that Basia, with all her care and experience, was around during that time. Basia is completely dependable and exudes love for cats. We never have to worry while away!

We’ve used Basia a few times over the last year to catsit our two very spoiled cats. She’s been nothing but a pleasure and a huge relief for these obsessive cat parents. One of our cats is diabetic so it can be difficult to find someone to look after them while we are out of town. We never worry with Basia.

I’ll start off by saying that we love love love Basia and her employees! From the first time we met Basia we knew this was a perfect match for us. She did a home visit to meet our little guy Chico. The way she interacted with him and us, we knew immediately she had the experience we were looking for. My dog has anxiety and doesn’t do so well with other dogs. She told us she can help us by slowly introducing him to other dogs in his walks. What she accomplished was beyond our expectations!!! We honestly couldn’t believe that he was walking alongside another dog without trying to attack him, until she sent us pictures! Now, thanks to Basia he’s able to be introduced to other dogs without immediately attacking them, and for this we are grateful… Moving forward to everyday services: Chico is so happy to see her or any of the other walkers. They help me out by changing his wee wee pads and even refill water/​food bowls when needed! They’re extremely attentive! For example after a haircut, his backside seemed a little off, and they made sure to contact and notify us. She also checks in and sends a personalized note after every walk. She goes above and beyond her duties and I recommend her to anyone looking for a dog walker, you won’t be disappointed!

We have used Basia and her associates for four years now, they have been nothing but wonderful. They proven themselves to be extremely dependable and accommodating. I absolutely recommend them!

It was nearly a year ago that I found Basia after first moving to Astoria, and you can read my initial Unilocal review of My Dog Needs a Walk. Well, my dog Scout and I sadly have to move, so I wanted to share my experience over the past year.
In all honesty, my initial review still stands. I have only glowing compliments for Basia and her team. They came through for my dog Scout on overnights, schedule flexibility, and most importantly, their heartfelt care for my dog was genuine. Scout’s continuous schedule of socialization with her fellow furry friends was so important to her happiness, as I worked long hours. The daily updates and pics while Scout was on her group outings brought a smile to my face during a bad day at work. We are very sad as now we are moving to Long Island and will miss Basia, Monica, and all Scout’s friends terribly. All I can say that choosing My Dog Needs a Walk will be the absolute best choice you can make regarding your dog’s care. Thank you so much Basia!!!

Basia is always on your side as a dog owner. If it was not for her, I would not have been able to rescue a dog (I wanted to secure a reliable dog walker first, before rescuing a pup). She services LIC area as well as Astoria. I highly recommend her.

Basia was wonderful! We had her check in on our cat while away for the holidays and were very impressed. Our cat is very shy and doesn’t warm up to strangers quickly, but Basia made her feel comfortable from the start. I loved that she sent text updates after each visit. You can tell that she truly cares about the animal she works with. We will definitely be using her from now on and would recommend her to anyone looking for a sitter.

Basia is an amazing pet sitter. Our fickle furry feline friends are never happy when we leave but they responded really well to Basia. She sends daily updates when we were away and even sends pictures (the pics were really amazing). She is very knowledgable, caring and responsible.
We will most definitely use her again and highly highly recommend her to anyone who needs a pet sitter.

Best service ever. Basia is rocking

I wanted to give a brief update of Basia’s excellent cat sitting service. We’ve now used her for several major holidays including july 4^th, Christmas, and Thanksgiving. She has always been available, and we feel her rates are extremely reasonable given the holiday weekends. She also sends us wonderful picture updates of her playing with our two cats. It’s such a relief to enjoy vacation knowing they are in such great hands!

We had adopted our dog and while looking online for dog walkers I had come across Basia. It’s a big deal to trust someone with your dog as well as going into your apartment when you’re not there. Since the first time she came to our apartment she was so kind and interested in learning about our dog. She even gave us great tips since we were new doggy parents!
Basia doesn’t let anyone in your apartment until you meet them, so we set up a time to meet Jason and Allie. They are great! Honestly, I cannot say enough nice things about all 3 of them. They are so professional, and they genuinely care for your dog. Every day we get a text with an update of how the walk went. She even tried out different harnesses of her own to see what worked best for our dog. When we first got her she was non-​stop pulling while walking, and now with their help and patience she is great on the leash!
It’s such a nice relief knowing our dog is being taken care of, and how we can always rely on them. I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone who is looking for a dog walker/​dog sitter!

Basia was referred to us through our building after we had adopted our chihuahua /​pug mix, Gizmo. She took the time to come and meet with Gizmo, my gf and I before setting up a walking schedule.
Basia also has extensive knowledge on animal behavior and gave us some tips on acclimating our newest family member. She is knowledgeable, friendly and professional. She or her associate has updated us by text after each walk.
Her associate Jason has been walking our dog for about 3 months now. This company and Jason have exceeded our expectations. Our dog is a family member and we want nothing but the best care for him in our absence. Jason has been great. He took the time to let the dog come to him when he first met our little guy. Never rushing to get him on a leash. He was also was patient when returning him to his crate, as our little guy can be somewhat elusive at crate time. Jason was also extremely helpful when our little escape artist got out of his pen. He went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure we didn’t return to a mess.
I would highly suggest Basia and her associates if you are looking for people who will care for your pet as their own.

Basia and her team are wonderful! They look after my kitty when I’m away and I trust them completely. They are such kind people. They take the time to love and play with the animals as well as feed and water them. Basia sends me photos and text updates every time she visits. She is a true animal lover which makes me feel great about entrusting Harry to her care. Highly recommended!

My hubby and I were referred to Basia by a friend and neighbor who had two dogs that Basia walked and «dogsat» for years so we knew she would be reliable and professional and that most importantly, she loves animals. She knows her stuff about dogs and cats and when she came to meet our Jack Russell mix rescue Teddy, she gave us some valuable insights into his temperament and what might become his habits (we had just adopted him). She had advice about toys, treats and training. I know I can come to her with questions outside of dogwalking and that she would be happy to help.
As another Unilocaler mentioned, she’s very responsive via text and calls and sends updates after each walk. A few times I had questions that I wanted to talk about and not text about and she picked up my calls right away. I don’t know why anyone would have an issue with her contract, it helped us feel that she was a Pro. I appreciate the fact that she has insurance and a legal contract and forms we keep on our fridge in case Teddy needs to go to the vet.
Teddy is very high energy, as is typical of his dominant breed and she’s even had her assistant jog with him. Jason is a new addition to her team but my husband and I like him very much. He’s very sweet and gentle with our Teddy and tries to walk him as long as possible to burn as much of that terrier energy as he can. Teddy loves him so much!
Bottom Line: We know Teddy is safe and cared for when walked by My Dog Needs a Walk! We highly recommend!

Basia and her team have been walking my dog Tia for a few months now and I am really happy with them, Tia was a rescue and has some emotional issues and can be anxious. Basia and her walkers have handled her with love and professionalism. I even think that she has become better socialized because of Basia.
Twice I have also had her sit my two cats when I was away. She stayed in my place with the beasts so they wouldn’t feel abandoned. I didn’t even know this was an option.
Basia just offers a great service and makes having pets in the city easier.

I’ve been using My Dog Needs a Walk for a year and a half and it’s been wonderful! Basia is extremely responsive by text and phone call. I can literally text her at any time and get a reply in minutes. She has also been quick to help when I need something last minute. She has walked my Shih Tzu weekly and given me a report of the walk, by text, every day. There are no surprises. I’ve met many of her dog walkers and they are very pleasant and easy to talk to. I recommend anyone use her services. They are caring, responsible, and respectful of your time and pet… and for only $ 15!

Bassia is just the best person you can have taking care of your pets. I have employed her for almost a year and would not change a thing. She treats my two dogs with love and care as if they were her own. She is very accommodating and understanding to last minute changes though I try not abuse that. She’s reliable, always on time and a pleasure to deal with. Your pooches will lover for life!

Basia is great.
She has walked my dogs in so many last-​minute-​jams that I can’t be anything but thankful.
You also get texts during the walk. Which, I suppose, is nice. It’s like a twitter feed of your dog (s) pooping.
One time, a couple of years ago, I had her walk two of my dogs on Sat and Sunday. I came back a little early on Sunday and said she didn’t have to walk them but you can’t cancel last minute. I’d recommend just getting the walk done anyways if that happens.

I’ve been meaning to write this review for a bit, and am finally sitting down to give credit where credit is due. When we moved to New York my biggest fear was what we were going to do with our dogs. We would both be working longer hours, and our chihuahuas can’t be left alone for that long.
We were so lucky to find Basia, Lilly, and Demetri. They come on time, and send me texts to let me know everything is ok. You can also tell that they are true animal lovers who care about their clients. I have two very particular chihuahuas who can be a bit dramatic at times. However when they saw Lilly on the street walking another one of her clients they ran over to her to say hi.
It was hard for me to let other people into my house to care for my dogs., but i am so happy with their services I feel great about having them watch the dogs overnight coming up.
My dogs have even made some new neighborhood friends! Tonight as I was walking them, the boys ran up to say hi to another dog I didn’t know. It turns out the dogs are all friends already through My Dog Needs A Walk.

I was in such a pickle as what to do with my 2 kitties when my apartment was getting exterminated! I had to have them out, and I work all day. I found Basia– and she was such a blessing! She worked around my schedule of dropping them off early and picking them up. She took wonderful care– played with them and payed special attention to my scared kitty. Her knowledge about cats was very inspiring too– I plan on getting a book based on her recommendation. If you are looking for affordable and honest services for your babies– look no more! Basia all the way! I can’t thank her enough!
