Bark & Bone

I’ve been using Bark & Bone for cat sitting in Astoria since this summer. Olivia and Cal are fabulous. My cat Rosie is pretty high-​maintenance but they always take great care of her and give me updates while I’m away. I love that I can relax when I’m out of town knowing she’s in good hands. I love coming back to the cute notes too :) Olivia is very responsive and reliable and has always squeezed me in for cat sitting visits, even on really short notice. Really reasonable prices too. Highly recommended!

I don’t have enough wonderful things to say about Olivia and her wonderful team at Bark and Bone! My pup, Satya, takes some time to get to know and trust new people, and Olivia and her team were always so considerate and patient with her. They go above and beyond to make sure that your pet is cared for, and their communication is amazing! The new online system allows for emailed messages, including pictures, so you can get timely information when away from your beloved friend. This was especially helpful as I used their service to assist with pet-​care while out of town during the blizzard in January! It was so comforting to see how loved and happy Satya was, even with all the snow. I was also so impressed with the dedication of their walkers (ours being the wonderful Cal) to keep to a schedule even in such horrid weather conditions. Bark and Bone is exceptional at what they do and I feel totally at ease with them caring for my very sweet, but not-​the-​easiest of dogs.

Olivia and her company are amazing! Sh’e very responsive and her and her staff have never let us down. We do not have a regular schedule, but when we request a walk, Olivia always fits our two boys into her schedule.
Our dogs love to eat everything on the street and tend to pull. However, her team are always trying to train them and even helped us socialize them with other dogs. Our dogs love everyone on the Bark & Bone team and jump with excitement whenever they see them on the street.
They leave great journal entries that really help us understand our crazy pups’ days.

I’ve been using Bark & Bone to walk my Boston Terrier/​Pug mix since August and I’ve had a great experience! All of Olivia’s dog walkers are responsible, on time, and friendly. I love the journal entries they leave telling me of Lily’s adventures during the day.
I’ve noticed that since her regular daily walks with Bark & Bone, Lily is more energetic and playful, even at 10 years old. I can’t thank Olivia and team enough for the great service they provide.

We feel so lucky to have found Bark and Bone! We have a 10 year old blind puggle and we worry so much about her. Olivia and her team are extremely reliable, so nice and it is clear they love their job and love these dogs! They are seriously the best.

Olivia and her team are great! We adopted a Jack Russell Terrier in April of this year and we have somewhat busy schedules so a dog walker was a necessity. We found Bark & Bone on Unilocal and we couldn’t be happier. We had a great home visit with Olivia so she could get to know us and the dog. She asked all the right questions about caring for the pup. Olivia is very accommodating to our somewhat unpredictable schedule and has always been able to add a walk if we’re in a pinch. The walker assigned to us has been great — very communicative with us and respectful of our home. And then of course the price can’t really be beat. So all in all, we cannot recommend Bark & Bone enough. If you’re in need of a dog walker look no further!

I have nothing but rave reviews for Olivia and her staff at Bark&Bone. I’ve never had such great service to drive me to write a Unilocal review, but here I am! My dog Bentley is very shy and reserved and I have actually seen him break out of his shell more since having the lovely staff at Bark&Bone take him for his weekly walks. Scheduling and payment is such a breeze! The walk log is absolutely adorable and gives me great insight as to what happened with that day’s walk. Such a great service and I am so happy with what they offer!

We were new to Astoria, and needed a dog walker a few days a week for our bernese mountain dog. We found Olivia through Unilocal and saw all the great reviews.
We could not be any happier with Olivia. She is extremely flexible with scheduling which is great for me as my schedule is different every week, and she is also so accommodating, even if it is a last minute schedule switch. She takes the time to come meet the dog beforehand to get to know him, and our boy loved her from the beginning. You can tell she has so much love for dogs, and the dogs love her right back! It is so nice to have peace of mind that your dog is in good hands while you are at work, and I always feel confident that our dog is taken care of and given lots of love and attention. She leaves notes to let you know how the walk went (which I love coming home and reading), and is also very quick to respond to texts if needed.
I would highly recommend Olivia and the team of walkers to anyone who asked. The company really is as good as it gets!

I had the pleasure of having Olivia recommended to me through a friend. She was lovely from the second I reached out to her. She came to my house, met my dog and we’ve loved her ever since. She runs a fantastic business and not only is she wonderful, but her team is just as great.
They are all attentive, kind, sweet to my dog and very responsible. They are great with a schedule but they are even great with last minute requests. I moved to Astoria from Williamsburg due to a breakup, and so I had an extremely quick turnaround for finding an apartment, getting a roommate, and situating my pup, Zuzu. It was quite a stressful time, but Olivia and her company made the move SO much easier for me. Olivia and I first spoke on the phone, and right away, I got such a great impression of her. It was only reinforced when we met in person later that week. Olivia was fantastic with Zuzu, and asked me all the right questions. I knew that Zuzu would be in great hands – and she definitely has been.
Olivia and her team have been more than accommodating with Zuzu’s walks and my requests. I have Zuzu on a MWF dog-​walking schedule, but Olivia and her team have also walked Zuzu on the weekends. Every day that Zuzu is walked, when I come home I run straight into the kitchen to read her report in her marble notebook. I feel like a mom – I really enjoy reading about what Zuzu and her walkers did that day, whether it’s walking with another neighborhood pup or meeting people on the street. My dog is not the easiest to walk with (cat and squirrel reactive, yikes!), and so it gives me so much peace of mind to know that all went well.
I wish I could give Olivia and her team 10 stars! Couldn’t ask for a more organized, professional, and friendly dog-​walking service – they’re my lifesavers!

Fabulous, incredible, stupendous, extraordinary, phenomenal. There is no adjective, or combination of adjectives, too grandiose to describe Olivia, the woman who owns and runs this business. I met her while walking my two large dogs in Astoria several months ago, and she has since walked my dogs many times. I’m a paranoid sort of person, so it was with trepidation that I handed my pups over to her (one of them is funny with other dogs), but she assuaged all my anxiety immediately upon completion of the first walk. Every tiny detail that I would want someone to consider, and regarding which I would doubt their thoughtfulness, she had already given a mental once– or twice– or thrice-​over and come up with genius solutions. She’s extremely careful, but also makes sure her dogs are relaxed and have fun. Ok, so I forgot an adjective… perfect :)

I got a dog over the summer and when it was time to go back to work in September, I was extremely nervous. I did not want to leave him in his crate too long and was looking for a dog walker. I saw Olivia walking a dog down my street with a dog t-​shirt and fanny pack on, and knew that she was a dog walker. We started talking and she was very professional and friendly, both to me and the dog she was walking. We set up a consultation for her to see the apartment and meet my dog Franklin. There was no doubt, watching her interact with my dog for the first time, she had a genuine love for dogs. She also took the time to ask about any training words or behaviors that I was working on, so that she would not conflict on walks during the day. I was quickly put at ease, that she would take great care of my new puppy while I’m at work.
I have now been using Bark & Bone for a little over a month and I am more than happy with the services provided. Olivia and her partner Chris, who regularly walks Franklin come on time and keep me updated with his daily walk and walking progress (as a puppy) through a journal that is kept on my table. When I have had to contact them regarding a friend or family who is in town and may be at the apartment when they stop by or to cancel a walk because I had a day off work, communication responses were quick and easy.
It is like a friend walking your dog! I highly recommend Bark & Bone!

Olivia watched our dog this weekend when our plans unexpectedly changed and we were left without a place for our dog to go. Olivia jumped in to help at the last minute and was a lifesaver. Our dog was happy and calm when we returned home and I could tell he was well cared for. Olivia is professional but personable and was easily reachable by text and email to check in (and I checked in constantly as I am crazy about my dog!) our dog can be tough to manage and there aren’t many people I trust with him but Olivia is amazing and I would recommend her to any dog owner in Astoria. :)

Olivia to the rescue!
My Blue Nose Pit, Jihad, was found by a co-​worker tied to a fence in Brooklyn. With no idea about her temperament or background I fell in love and jumped right in. Once home I noticed she is overly excited by other dogs, not vicious, just no doggy etiquette what so ever. She loves to play, just doesn’t get the «back off, chick» social cues the other dogs give her. Think of the weird girl that hangs out at the library who gets her shot to run with the «in crowd» after school one day. She gets so excited she ends up pissing everybody off… that’s my Jihad at the dog park.
Her prey drive is off the charts. Stubborn doesn’t begin to describe her personality. Her past home may have had no boundaries; she may have been on her own, doing her own thing for her first few months of her life, no one knows. But as soon as there is a «no», she’s all about breaking down that barrier. So, what’s the answer? Get rid of that extra energy she’s got plenty of, and some consistent training. The run in the morning, the half hour walk when I got home, then the hour walk after dinner wasn’t enough. Throw in the guilt factor of working long hours while she was in a crate most of the day, and I needed help.
Olivia has been more than just a dog walker for me. With her flexible hours, more than fare rates, help keep my training techniques consistent, and the scary bond MY dog has with her (yes, I’m jealous), she’ll be the only walker I have for years to come. Olivia even shoots me texts after the walk to let me know how things went, how Jihad responded to other dogs, prey and our training (a major concern for me) and even ups the cooling in my apartment if needed. Jihad is steadily making progress with other dogs, darting after prey is almost non-​existent and I know she’s getting quality care during the day. I’m back to sleeping well again.

Words cannot express how happy I am to have found Olivia and her company.
My two pooches are wonderful, but a few days a week they suffered when I went straight from job one to job two. I felt so incredibly guilty and I knew I needed to find someone to walk them during the day. But where could I find someone to walk my motley crew? My intense German Shorthaired Pointer, Freckles, walked like a nightmare, always pointing or pulling towards flying things (look mom, a bird!) While Tucker, my Maltese Chihuahua mix, stopped to mark everything in his path (this is mine, this is mine too…) I was so sure that no one could handle walking the two of them together.
Thankfully, Olivia instantly bonded with them and took everything in stride. She walks the two of them together, and then plays with them in the back yard for a bit afterwards. She leaves cutesy and descriptive notes after every walk, is very flexible with her scheduling, and I even see her walking around my development with other dogs, which is totally cool! Oh yeah, did I mention she’s totally affordable on my slave wage private school para/​animal shelter salary?
All in all, I’d say if you’re looking for a reliable, attentive, caring dog walking service, you should totally give Bark & Bone a ring!

Let me start by saying that my obsessive rambling about my baby is sometimes a put off for the people I interview to take care of the light of my life. Thankfully, however, Olivia was not! She was attentive to my, as well as my baby’s, needs. Even though he is a big ball of love, most people are apprehensive about bringing him on a group walk with smaller dogs, but Olivia showed him the same attention and love when she met him that I do. After a few conversations and meeting with her, Olivia has been a reliable care taker of Baby when I’m not around. If I had to list a con, I would say it’s that baby could probably eat her if he was hungry enough.
