At General Internal Medicine Group, P.C., we have been committed to providing quality medical care to the Northern Virginia area since 1983. We take a comprehensive approach to preventive health care and emphasize maintaining good health through regular physical examinations, a healthy diet, regular exercise and appropriate screening tests. Our staff is composed of board-​certified internists, including specialists in Endocrinology, Rheumatology, Cardiology, and certified Physicians Assistants. We are a primary care physician and physician assistant group that serves as your «Medical Home», providing you with preventive care, initial evaluations for any acute or chronic problems, and managing and coordinating of all your medical care needs.

Business Owner

Dr. Arthur A. Rubin, a New Jersey native, attended the University of Pennsylvania. He graduated from Georgetown Medical School and then studied psychiatry for 18 months at Georgetown University Hospital before going on to an internal medicine residency. After becoming board-​certified, Dr. Rubin worked for a California HMO as an internal medicine consultant. Being an Easterner at heart, Dr. Rubin returned to Virginia and opened an internal medicine practice in 1978. He and Dr. Major became associates and moved to our Arlington location in 1983. Dr. Rubin has been President of the Virginia Society of Internal Medicine and the Northern Virginia Academy of Medicine and a former board member of the Medical Society of Virginia Peer Review Organization. Dr. Rubin has been an advisor, speaker and consultant to Blue Cross/​Blue Shield Health Plans, HCFA seminars, and hospital systems on issues of quality care and utilization of medical services.
