I wanted to write a note of my great appreciation for the help I received from Dr. Mandana Shafai at Advanced Health Center in Arlington, VA. I had shared with Dr. Shafai that I had been suffering from extreme fatigue and she ordered a blood test. She discovered that I had some vitamin deficiencies (4 different vitamins) and gave me the vitamins that I was deficient in along with a B12 shot. Within a day or two I started to feel better! The B12 shot helped not only with energy but cleared up immediately some brain fog which B12 has in some studies shown to be helpful. God bless you very much Dr. Shafai for taking the time to listen and care enough to check out my fatigue complaint. Thank you also for the added mental clarity that the B12 shot gave me!

I followed her many years ago from a different practice because I really liked her, very glad I did. She takes time to listen to your problems, is very open to working with you on solutions that work for you and your body, and provides ideas for traditional medicine and supplements if you’re open to them.

She is a great primary care doctor. She seems like she genuinely cares — when I came in asking about a condition, after we discussed that, she followed up with an unrelated condition I was in for previously. That’s never happened! Also, she is very pro-​natural treatments (vitamins over prescriptions) which I think is great.

Dr. Mandana Shafai helped me stop taking prescribed synthetic hormone medication. She made it easy too! Ordered a comprehensive blood exam (11 codes) and gave me a kit $ 35 to send a sample of my saliva to the lab.
Bioidentical hormones are compounded just for me and sent by mail from Women’s International Pharmacy
Compounded BHRT is more expensive than conventional, FDA-​approved HRT, and is often not covered by health insurance. Do your research. Make sure you request a full-​size invoice to submit to your health insurance provider, otherwise, you will receive a 2×3 inch receipt.
RESULTS: I am 61 and feel like a joyous 40-​year-​old.

Find a different general practitioner.
While Dr. Shafai is technically satisfactory as a general practitioner, in the overall sense, she left much to be desired. I found her to be indifferent in attitude toward me, completely lacking in empathy for my health problems, and her care turned out to be an expensive, lengthy exercise in diagnostics that failed to yield a concrete (or even definitive) answer to my health problems. I would also emphasize: if you need care and answers quickly, this is not your doctor!
