I am so grateful for other’s Unilocal reviews that helped me find this place, which is why I want to write my own review so that others may benefit from this great practice as well.
I just moved from coast to coast. It’s hard to find a doctor and especially a good one! I teach yoga and prefer a more holistic approach to health. I feel that it’s not just about treating the symptoms but about addressing the root of the issue and the doctors here do just that.
I have seen Dr. Shafai as my primary care doctor and she was such a delight. I have a phobia and being in clinics, hospitals and doctors offices always make me nervous. This place is very Zen like and has a good vibe. She made me feel comfortable and explained things in detail. She didn’t push drugs on me which I really appreciate but since she’s a MD she will prescribe pharmaceuticals when needed. To me this practice is the perfect balance of eastern and western medicine. Which brings me to my next point…
I also am grateful that the practice includes chiropractors and acupuncturist. I am fairly active and recently hurt my back after overdoing it. I had never seen a chiropractor before but because I was in so much pain I set up an appointment right away and had X-​rays taken there too which was convenient. Dr. Collins and Dr. Ziegler are kind, gentle, experienced and have put me back on the path to feeling so much better.
I don’t have to wait long if at all when I get there. They are very prompt and I find their scheduling to be quite accommodating and flexible. Their staff, especially Sora (not sure if I spelled her name right) and Joanna, are courteous and so efficient with billing and insurance issues.
The most important thing we have in life is health and I feel very fortunate to have found the right place to help me stay healthy!

After having severe back pain for some time, my doctor referred me to a back and pain specialist. During my research, it seemed like they had a few techniques that they specialized in, one of which was getting shots — not interested. Then my coworker referred me to AHC. I checked them out online and decided to make an appointment. When I called to do so, the lady on the other end was pleasant and efficient and I think that was the point that I knew I made the right choice (first impressions are everything). First visit, met with Dr. Z and I honestly just simply enjoyed him not rushing me out the door and treating me like I was just another patient with all the same problems as someone else. It’s easy to see that he’s super passionate about his work which made me confident in his ability to ‘fix me’. He answered my questions and set expectations for next steps. Second visit, he laid down the plan and then introduced me to Dr. C and they both equally just have taken good care of me since. They seem genuinly concerned about my quality of life and well-​being and my daily progress as it relates to my treatment plan and it’s been working. I started noticing differences in the pain level and frequency of occurrences of pain and so far, it’s only getting better. From the staff to the doctors, I really don’t have any complaints (which is rare for me). I would recommend them hands down to anyone experiencing back issues and pain, you won’t be disappointed.

Dr. Ziegler is awesome! He really cares about you as a person, not only as a patient who needs a treatment. The staff is friendly and helpful. Office hours are great for people with busy schedules… love that they are open on Saturday!

This is the second time Dr. Zeigler has treated tightness in my neck. I still came to visit him even though I live 20 miles away now because of the strong impression he made on me during my first treatment.
After two weeks of struggling to loosen up my upper back muscles with massages and heat pads I finally threw in the towel and paid Dr. Zeigler a visit. He has an established method treating this specific and very common condition. After two visits I already felt much better and now after my 6^th visit I am almost 100%.

I would really like to continue using Advanced Health Center, but I just don’t have the patience for the rude and unprofessional office staff. I have never had such difficulty in scheduling an appointment or experienced a receptionist in more of a rush to hang up on you. I hope someone there will address this issue.

Whoa, good experience. I stumbled in here this morning as an emergency walk in. Lucky for me Dr. Ziegler came in early so he was able to slip me in. He is personable and clearly loves what he does. His first words to me when entering the exam room were «Aww oh wow, what happened?“spoken with genuine concern.
Also I’m that annoying person that doctors usually hate because I have a burning need to understand every complex technical thing that’s happening. Hey, I just like to know things. He patiently explained to me twice what an «antalgic lean» was, that I was doing it and that I was about to get «Interferential Current Therapy (IFC)». Say what? He explained that it was a type of therapy used on athletes to reduce swelling.
The IFC helped me tremendously and I thought I was good to go. But just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, before leaving he took the time to give me a quick adjustment. I came in the door hardly being able to walk or roll over in bed and now I feel like I could go rock climbing. Crazy.
Oh also, bonus, free, accessible parking.

For the last two weeks I’ve been seeing Dr Collins for back pain. She is absolutely amazing. Every time I come out from my visit I feel so much better. It’s her skill and interpersonal competence that’s the cause I believe. The only drawback is that she’s at the office Tuesday and Thursday mornings only. I wish she were in the office more so that I could get my treatments more than twice a week. I know that eventually I’ll have to go to a less frequent treatment plan but in the meantime, I’ll come when she is here.

I absolutely love Advanced Heath Center, and I highly recommend it. I don’t often write reviews, but want to share this gem. As a patient of both Dr. Shafai’s and Dr. Ziegler’s I can’t speak highly enough about this place. I moved here from Michigan and needed to find a general physician, Dr. Shafai has been great. Please note that I am very picky about doctors and she was the third I tried in the area. Since I really loved the office, I decided to see Dr. Zeigler for general back pain pain (I’m a bartender) and have been so impressed with him. I had never been to a chiropractor so I didn’t know what to expect, but he has a wonderful personality that made me feel very at ease and was very knowledgeable in explaining the procedures to me. I walked out of my first appointment feeling like I was floating after being in pain for months!
This office is an integrative health care office, so I never feel like unnecessary prescriptions are being forced on me. They sell an array of natural supplements in there office, but never make you feel like you ‘should be buying it from them’ either. I do buy most of my supplements there now and find them to be very high quality and effective. I really feel like they care about the overall well being of their patients.
Oh, and if all that wasn’t enough– they have the friendliest, most helpful staff out there!

I’m so grateful to have found this place! I was looking for an integrative medicine doctor who accepted insurance and luckily came across Dr. Shafai. She is very thorough, patient and takes the time answer all of your questions. She gives you options and alternatives so that you choose how to best manage your health. Dr. Ziegler is a great chiropractor, full of knowledge and fun conversations. I’ve also seen Dr. Ueno for acupuncture and have been seeing some great results and feeling better. This place is a one-​stop shop for both general and alternative medicine. The doctors work together as a team to ensure the best treatment plan for whatever ails you. The front desk/​reception staff ladies are also super nice, which sometimes isn’t always the case at medical offices. My all-​time favorite person there though is the nurse/​medical assistant, Heidi. She truly genuinely cares about the patients and is a great advocate for all of the doctors. She is overjoyed when I achieve certain progress milestones with my health, is a great cheerleader when I’ve been feeling demotivated to continue, and has been a great shoulder to cry on the couple times I was having bad days. If you want a place where you always feel welcomed and everyone genuinely cares about your well being, I highly recommend Advanced Health Center!

I’ve been to several chiropractors in the past few years. Dr. Ziegler is the best from both a treatment and knowledge/​communication perspective. The office and staff are great. It’s easy enough to get an appointment and I don’t feel like I’m being sped through the assembly line by people who don’t know my name. Everyone knows you and you will always know what their strategy with you is.
Most importantly, Dr. Ziegler is extremely knowledgable and can help you to repair your injuries outside of the office as well. He’s also very personable.

I have been a patient of Dr. Shafi for the last four years. I started going to see her just for physicals. I originally chose this office because it was near my home and they could get me in the same day. I can usually been able to schedule an appointment within a day, whenever I’ve needed to get in to see the doctor since. I’ve gone through a few different health episodes and Dr. Shafi and her staff have been both very patient and informative in providing direction and diagnosis in resolving my issues. And when we couldn’t come to a resolution, she’s even provided quality referrals to specialists in the area that have assisted in successful diagnosis and treatment. (It’s always nice when you doctor listens to you and works with you to help find a resolution even when they have «tried everything» and you still have a health problem.)
The really cool part was this last fall, I hurt my back (pretty seriously) and needed help. I got in to see Dr. Shafi and she referred me to Dr. Zigler (in office!). I was able to see him within minutes and in a short time I was being x-​rayed and treated. SAME DAY! After a small adjustment and some instructions I was able to walk decent. (I was pretty bad off) I was provided a diagnosis of the issue and results of the x-​ray the next day. After explaining my work requirements and health status, Dr. Z came up with a treatment plan that not only worked well for allowing me to continue to work without further hurting myself, but also allowing me to heal! Within weeks I was back to my usual activity without pain. All without a major pain killer prescription and a lot of communication of how I felt and how the treatments were effecting me. I don’t know how I would have made it through the fall season without Dr. Z and his understanding and support of my work, along with his great medical expertise.
The staff in the office is always helpful and curteous. They are as caring and great representatives of the doctors.
If you are looking for a knowledgeable and supportive doctors with access to mutilple in-​office resources, I would highly recommend the Advanced Healthcare Group. If you are looking for a quality primary healthcare physician Dr. Shafi is it. If you are involved in any sports and are looking for an experienced and supportive quality chiropractor, Dr. Zigler is it.

Great place… doctors and staff couldn’t be more helpful and accommodating. I’ve been a patient for 2 + years and Dr. Ziegler has helped me tremendously in managing a chronic pain conditon. The team at Advanced Health is patient, kind, honest, and offer treatment that is best for the patient. I highly recommend!

I called and scheduled a new patient appointment. I gave them my personal and insurance information. When I arrived on the day of my appointment they said my information was in the system but they had no record of my appointment, and that the Dr. Shafai was booked so she couldn’t see me. Then the receptionist just stared at me blankly like this was my fault and didn’t offer any explanation or offer to reschedule, so I left and will find a place that has better patient service.

I found this clinic via internet, because my leg was injured from long distance running. At that time I had to participate in Marine Corps Marathon. However, I could not train and run a lot for a while.
Thanks to Dr. Ueno who treated me through Acupuncture and Dr. Ziegler who treated through chiropractic, the pain was relived shortly and could run 26.2 miles without hurt.
They were very kindness and took patients warm and compassionate care every time. Also staff were very friendly and goodness!
I strongly recommend that if you have something problem like back pain, injury which was caused by sports, you should go there and take treatment from them! I am not professional athlete, but they treat us warmly. In addition, keeping healthy body and condition is very important and difficult, so in order to keep healthy body, relieve pain, this Advanced Health Center is perfect clinic.

About 3 months ago a coworker of mine recommended Dr Ziegler as a chiropractor I was always a little skeptical of chiropractors I have had a bad experience several years back. When I met dr louis ziegler he was absolutely phenomenal. He did some stretching some heat and some electrical therapy to my back and after that one session my hip pain went away. He suggested I do yoga which I did and after a few weeks of that I felt even better. Other than one small inflammation of pain for a couple of days I have been pain free since joining his practice as a patient. He is kind compassionate and totally committed to delivering amazing healthcare

I have been seeing Dr. Zeigler on an as-​needed basis for nearly 5 years. I came in for lower back pain and he had me come in twice per week for a few months to help loosen it up. It worked!
I say I see him on an «as-​needed» basis because I am a long-​distance runner and have a stressful job. When I increase my mileage, I see him more often to help keep my lower back loose. When the stress of sitting at a keyboard gets into my neck and shoulders, his staff is always able to squeeze me in for an appointment at the end of the day even if I only call them that morning.
My best experience came in January 2014 when I pulled a muscle in my lower back while lifting a heavy chair. Like an idiot, I got in a twisted position when holding the chair and I immediately felt the snap in my lower back. The day after the injury, I couldn’t stand up straight or walk without pain and the area was very inflammed. To add insult to injury, I was supposed to begin training for a 10-​miler that week.
The day after the injury I immediately went to Dr. Zeigler to begin treatment. He saw me 3 days per week for two weeks to treat my lower back with the electrode therapy and ultrasound. Buy the end of the second week I was able to run and begin my training program without pain. I was only one week behind my training schedule. No muscle relaxer could have done that! I know that seeking treatment immediately after the injury spared me from having a much longer recovery time and potentially dropping out of the race.
I’m always able to get an evening appointment and they are typically very prompt with their start times – I can’t recall ever waiting more than 5 minutes. Dr. Zeigler will recommend how often you should come in but I don’t find him to be pushy. I listen to my body and usually know when I need a little extra help. I’ll go 4 to 6 months between visits but when I return he always knows it’s because I’m in some sort of pain and the staff ensure I get in as often as necessary to help relieve that pain.

The best place ever!!! Good customer service anytime I need I be seen an also my kids got seen my kids love him!!!

I highly recommend both Dr. Ziegler and Dr. Nguyen as chiropractors. Both are caring and compassionate doctors with extensive knowledge and experience in their field and health care in general.
On my first visit Dr. Ziegler did a thorough examination and sent me for x-​rays (before doing any adjustments) for my cervical spine after I complained about neck pain and limited range of movement. After the x-​ray came back we learned that my neck lost the natural curve, and Dr. Ziegler came up with a plan to remedy this. His positive attitude and knowledge gave me confidence and hope that his planned treatment would make an improvement.
Dr. Nguyen worked with me each time I came in for an adjustment. The first step of each adjustment session is electrotherapy with a heating pad, then ultrasound, then the rolling table, and finally the adjustment. The adjustment was done using a type of activator method (Google it if you’re not familiar), and was painless yet effective. Dr. Nguyen is highly skilled at this method.
A few months later I have seen significant improvement in my condition — thanks to Dr. Ziegler and Dr. Nguyen. The staff is also always welcoming and helpful. Scheduling an appointment is very easy and they can usually fit you in on a days’ notice.
I always look forward to going in for a treatment or as a follow-​up to discuss my progress. They make you feel relaxed and taken care of and the staff and doctors couldn’t be more caring and attentive.

Ive had a pain in my knee for quite some time. After a couple years of it nagging me I decided to get it checked out. I went to see an Orthopedic (Dr. Romness, and not in this office). After explaining my issue, he told me I needed surgery and would be on crutches for about 4 weeks. I asked him how did he come to that conclusion without even an X-​ray or MRI? He stated he sees this all the time and this is the only treatment. Otherwise I’ll live with this pain forever.
Needless to say I left his office and never returned.
And because I’m a guy it took me another 2 years before I went to get my knee checked again. Lol
This time I wanted to get an opinion from someone that would take more of a holistic approach. So I found Dr. Ziegler on Health grade, and he had good reviews.
At my first visit with him, he sent me to get an X-​ray! That makes sense doesn’t it?
Well fast forward to today, I’m at my 9^th treatment, and my knee feels fantastic! I actually felt a big difference after my 1^st treatment.
Wow, imagine if I would have gone under the knife.
Very happy with my experience here, with Dr. Ziegler and staff. Highly recommended.

I’ve been a patient here for about 2 years and have seen both doctors Ziegler and Shafai — the first for holisitic care, the second for general medicine. They’re both honest, extremely pleasant, and personable. They take the time for conversation and never forget to ask about my dog. And, literally, I haven’t spent more than 5 mins. in their waiting area-​they are refreshingly always on schedule, which is priceless in the middle of a workday.
Heidi, Dr. Shafai’s nurse, deserves 5 stars as well. She’s the sweetest.
While my past 7 years in DC has jaded my outlook on service, I highly recommend this one. They’re even open on Saturday!
