Ordered the sea bass here – SOYUMMY!!! Fish was fresh and flavorful, but not too overpowered by the seasoning. Really a fantastic dinner here. I would love to try everything else on the menu. If only I lived in Lisbon…

In a small alley in the old charming part of Lisboa, appeared this perl of a restaurant up. We where some guys together, and were guided into the back room where the next was medieval atmosphere at a huge table in the center. The waiters knew their stuff, it was a pleasure from the time we came to we went. The waiters were extremely good at helping one to the perfect dish. We got several dishes, wine, a welcome drink and a cherry dessert wine(I’m not usually the not into that stuff, but this was a traditional from this area and was actually not bad). The menu was on seafood, shrimp that were the size of a man’s hand and everything was lavished by — cook’d to perfection, not raw, not rubbery — perfect with lots of flavor and juice. The place was absolutely not expensive — on the courage, compared to what we got, I would say cheap. This is the experience worth it if you are in Lisboa.

This is a nice cozy place with top notch food and wine. Although not overly expensive, the ambiance is best for a special occasion or romantic date night.

Quer jantar bem no Chiado? Esquece os botecos de esquina. Este é o lugar! O melhor bacalhau e as melhores amêijoas.

Usually when I see more than 3 euro dollar signs I keep it moving but for some reason the idea of a final fancy meal intrigued me . We of course showed up late but they weren’t ready for us so that was a win for the evening. A round of Portuguese style bubbly put my mind at ease as we were all very under dressed. We shared the scallops with champagne sauce and croquettes as apps and we each ordered various entrees. Tiger prawns, whole fish and salmon in puff pastry. We all enjoyed our meals and along side our perfectly decanted bottle of wine. Service was great from start to finish. I can’t recall his name but he did an excellent job at explaining and making recommendations. Though impersonally would have wanted to be a little more dressed up we didn’t feel any shade from the staff I think if we were state side my friend wearing chucks would have been an issue . If you have the ability to splurge a little I would say make this place where it happens. The restaurant was pretty crowded for a Monday and we reserved a table for 10pm.

We stumbled across this place after giving up on an awful restaurant in the main tourist zone. It was quite a climb up many stairs, but worth it. The food is all quite good, the service was exceedingly friendly. They were able to get us a table without reservations on a Saturday night(we arrived late, after the main dinner crowd — maybe at 11:30pm). I had the lobster risotto with prawns, which came with 2 massive prawns. It was the most expensive main course at 28 euros. The other main courses were more reasonable, about 16 euros. The bread and olives were very high quality, the waiter was very helpful with the wine, which was a quite decent vinho verde(they had 3 different vinho verdes by the glass…). My companion had steak at a seafood restaurant, and said it was quite good. The restaurant is very elegant, all white interior. Very nice place.

L’incontournable !!!

Really good restaurant in the heart of Lisbons Bairro Alto district. An oasis of class and more fish than anyone can dream of. We made this location our first meal in this city by the sea. First impressions were that here is where you eat great fish. In typical Portuguese fashion, bread, butter olives and cheese were placed on our table but the waiter informed us that if we touched them we pay extra and if not, nothing was charged. It’s a strange system to us both because you are left wondering how long this food is sitting out and exposed to various elements or someone’s sneezes, no thanks! We ordered their version of crab cakes over greens to start which was delicious, as a starter it was quite small but tasty absolutely! For mains we both got cod fish, his in an olive oil sauce and mine with a cornbread crust and black olives. Both were huge and placed on top potatoes and greens. To say this was good would be a gross understatement, this was amazing. I could barely finish it. We had a young local white wine to go with it which was perfect. We skipped dessert, ordered coffees and they brought us out a complimentary after dinner shot of cherry liquor which was beautifully presented. For two people the totally price was about 35 each.

My favorite restaurant in Lisboa and one of my favorite memories of the city was the meal that I had with a co-worker at Lisboa à Noite. The menu seemed to be heavy on the seafood but that’s fine with me. If you’re in town and looking for a good restaurant, I don’t think you could do better than Lisboa à Noite in Bairro Alto.

I echo the other reviewer about how good local cheese everyone gets as a pre starter is, I’m not the biggest cheese fan usually but I loved eating this with a spoon. Gill had goats cheese and honey to start and steak for main course, she’s normally fussy but finished all of both. I had a prawn based starter, very nice, but went for traditional bacalhao(cod) for main course, which I found quite average. Dessert was a traditional Portuguese pudding, which was creamy/milky/nutty as far as I remember and good but not amazing. Service was very friendly, even after I smashed one of their decanters, and the whole meal was excellent value

Service polyglotte. Une salle fumeurs au fond à droite.

This restaurant is in a small cobbled side street right in the heart of the nightlife scene in Barrio Alto. When we arrived, they served us a local delicious cheese(camembert type) which you eat with a spoon!(I liked it so much that I went to the shops to buy one the next day!). My starter was delicious, the main course was a type of fish & lobster breaded broth which was nice but had a little too much bread for my liking. However, the atmosphere was nice and although the food is expensive, it’s a nice treat and I would definitely come here again. The total bill of meal & drinks came to around 100 Euro for 2 of us. They specialise on local fish dishes. I would also like to recommend the Muscatel as an appertiser.
