We stopped by this place as we saw some decent reviews. It was a cold day so we intended to seat inside. The space was tight but there were empty tables. We asked to seat on a table but we were told that it was reserved. Found out later it was not true. So we decided to seat outside. Asked for a tagliatelle with wild boar, rabbit and a steak with potatoes. The pasta was average. The rabbit was reheated so it was quite dried, and the stake was similar of what you get at an event in a hotel. Quite bad. It was edible, but the service was extremely rude. If I could put a zero star I would. There are much better options in this beautiful city.

I’d give this place no star if possible. We arrived at the charming piazza, to find all tables full. We sat patiently on the little bench while the staff studiously avoided eye contact. Eventually we were told that we could sit inside, to which we agreed without protest as we were starving! We(a group of 3) were pointed towards a large table(seating for 8) before the waiter/manager quickly disappeared. We chose to sit instead at a smaller table(seating for 6) to free up more space. Waiter/manager returned, saw we had moved, and let out a tirade of shouting and abuse about the fact that we had moved that bordered on a tantrum. It is never appropriate to speak to anybody like that, and certainly not to paying customers, who had only been trying to help in the first place. In summary: rude, aggressive staff, with a serious attitude problem. Avoid like the plague.

Rude, bad attitude, bad service, and so-so food. The only plus is that it is the only place open late in the San Gimignano area. I’ve dined in Milan, Venice, Florence, Pisa, and other places in San Gimignano – from local haunts to the touristy to a few star decorated places. Will never come back here again. I can tolerate mediocre ingredients but not the terrible attitude. If you’re looking for delicious Italian faire, go somewhere else. Stay away from here. The bread was bad, risotto and pasta were gritty, the meat was old, and the maître’s/server’s attitudes belong in the gutter.

Petite salle voutée d’une trentaine de couverts, service rapide et bons petits plats à prix raisonnables. Un bon rapport qualité prix donc !

Really a wonderful experience. Food superb, service superb, waiter really special. Do not miss this restaurant as it is, without doubt, the best Italian food we have ever had.

This is a charming little spot right off the main entrance to the town. This location made it especially convenient on the rainy night we first visited this cozy restaurant at the recommendation of the folks at the nearby villa Il Borghetto. You walk down a small flight of stairs to a small but charming setting that is everyone’s picture of a folksy Italian eatery. Our server, «Not Frank» as he introduced himself(after I had divulged my name as being«Frank») was a wonderful fella with a rye sense of humor that entertained us all evening while providing us efficient service. Nice as he was, it was the food that brought us back for second meal later that week. Porcini’s were in season and both the porcini pasta were delicious with generous portions of the funghi, as were their wild boar dishes: wild boar stew and a wild board pasta. Beef carpaccio was light and tender and nicely seasoned. And a platter with a nice mix of Tuscan meats was devoured with much appreciation. But the dish that kept this restaurant in our memory throughout our trip was their tiramisu. It was prepared very simply with a single layer of coffee-soaked cake covered by a uniquely delicious layer of cream, much denser than whipped. It was more than just the standard cows milk cream whipped with mascarpone. Was it perhaps using the much richer sheeps milk cream that gave it the extra luciousness? We couldn’t place, it was the best tiramisu we came across. At our first dinner, the three of us shared a single order, as we so do normally. But on our second visit, in a rare departure from our convention, we each got our own order. Dinner or lunch here can be a delightful experience. Don’t miss the chance.

At the entrance of the charming/somewhat creepy town of San Gimignano is this tiny restaurant. It feels bigger because of the mural of the outside painted on the wall. Antipasto Toscana– included warm garlic bread. Spaghetti with meat sauce Lasagna We could’ve stopped here and had a lovely meal. They do pasta well. Rabbit roulade– kinda like cafeteria food– uniform color. Not the best Spinach– the Italians love to overcook their spinach. Just a heads up if you like it rare like me. White beans

Tiny restaurant with only a few tables, 1 waiter, a delightfully handwritten menu and a clear view of the kitchen. Was told the food was very good and appeared reasonably priced(~7−10 euro), but we only had time for pre-dinner drinks much to the dismay of our waiter. Nonetheless, was still pleasantly surprised by how nice and light the house wine tasted. A carafe cost ~4 euro.

This was a wonderful restaurant hidden up some stairs down a small street off the main street. We were able to find the restaurant by asking a local shop owner who told us that we were looking for a great restaurant. One could tell that the folks working there were committed to satisfying their customers with great food. We ordered crepes with cheese/spinach, lasagna and beef with wine. At end of the meal, the manager helped us find the best gelato to be found in town. We had a wonderful experience eating here.
