We had an hour for dinner near the Pantheon; Armando Al Pantheon wasn’t open yet but this place was. The Bombolotti Norcina made me very happy; carbonara was also a winner. Interesting that the reviews are so mixed but everyone in our party was perfectly happy.

Right on a Main Street of touristy restaurants, we tried this one. We were seated right next to another couple in a cramped setting. We ordered the house wine’ a full carafe, just don’t, the only place on our trip we didn’t enjoy the wine. I had the carbonara, my husband started with the red sauce pasta. My carbonara was very clumpy, huge portion, but was also luke warm. I had the grilled calamari, that was good, my husband’s original choice turned out to be not available, so he ordered a sausage dish, on a bed of beans, and a strange sauce. Maybe we just hit a bad night? The service was ok, but the owner kept talking to the couple next to us, he brought them special wine, roasted porcini mushrooms, really catering to them. It was odd having him talk over us, pretty much our whole dinner, distracting. Not sure why the reviews were so good. There are so many better spots in Rome.

Food is disgusting. Old, dry and disgusting. Location is nice but the food was the worst I EVER had. Should have had McDonald’s on our last night in Rome. Told the man(server, owner, manager?) that food was not edible and I wouldn’t feed it to a dog and he didn’t argue with me. I honestly believe he knew he served us OLDDRYFOOD. DONOTGOTHERE. This is the first review I have written. I just couldn’t let this go by without saying something and warning others. That’s how awful the food was.

Delicious food, but the service is too busy and slow. The one waitress didn’t want to seat us — she was so unhappy! Asked for the check — it took them 20 minutes. We skipped coffee and dessert because of the bad service.

Ok maybe 2.5 but definitely not a 4 or 5 star experience. The waitress was initially quite unwelcoming and appeared unpleased to have yet another customer — she did warm up a bit as the meal wore on as we continued to be pleasant and undemanding but not a great start. We both had the vegetable soup(the spelt soup had sold out sadly). It was over salted and overcooked. The broth had minimal flavour apart from saltiness and the vegetables were on the point of being mush. Edible but not even«good». We ordered two pasta dishes, pasta with oxtail meat and pasta with porchini mushrooms. The oxtail«meat» dish had no oxtail meat in the sauce — it did have 3 assorted size pieces of oxtail on the bone but they were completely undercooked so coaxing juicy lovely bits of oxtail from them was impossible. I love oxtail, i know what a delight it can be when cooked properly(and I do cook it on occasion). This was a sad insult to oxtail and would put people unfamiliar with the meat off trying it again. Oh the tomato sauce with the pasta(some sort of rigatoni) was fine but nothing special, but sadly the rigatoni was undercooked — and I don’t mean al dente, I mean it needed another 3 minutes in the boiling water. Not a good dish. The tagliatelle with porchini was presented as a HUGE serving, enough for two people… but it lacked any real sparkle. There was also a slightly odd sour taste associated with the mushrooms. Again the pasta needed more cooking — it was as if the chef was in a hurry. Once again not a nice dish and most of it was left uneaten. This is not a low cost place either — kinda mid priced — so we over 60 euros for a couple of beers, two soups and two pasta dishes. Would we go back? No. Would we recommend to others? Absolutely NO. Much better places elsewhere — check our other reviews.

Nice people, food was not very good. Soup so salty could not eat and all 12 dishes we had were poor. Food 2 service 4 for friendliness

Great food! We especially loved it because it had indoor seating and this was a major plus because it is located on such a narrow street that if you sit outside you have people constantly walking right behind you. Complimentary white wine when you arrive was also a plus! The veal was great and the mixed bruschetta was very different from others we have tried at local restaurants.

We went to Pietro’s after reading previous reviews on Unilocal. We had porcinni pasta, grilled seabass and wine. The dishes took over half an hour to get to the table while we munched on plain bread and wine. The dishes weren’t worth the wait; the pasta was oily, the seabass bland. They would have been OK at a mall in California but not acceptable in Rome. I recommend that you avoid this restaurant and all the other tourist traps in the same street.

Ok. I totally don’t get it. After following the positive reviews, I keep thinking maybe we were mistaken and went to the wrong restaurant, but after checking repeatedly, I’m know we just had one of worst meals here in Rome. The waitress was so unhappy to seat and serve us, even though we had reservations, and it was early evening(around 7.) We were served bread, even though we didn’t ask for it, and then we were charged per person with ¾ of the dried out bread still in the basket. We were also charged for«mineral water» that was regular water in a carafe. We ordered a salad that never came(luckily not charged for), and the food was mediocre at best. I’m not sure of the disconnect between our experience and the rest of the rave reviews. I guess my biggest cocern is that they pulled ‘tourist trap’ maneuvers. Really? 6 euros for tap water in a carafe?! My recommendation is to try elsewhere.

A real gem in the middle of mediocre tourist restaurants. My wife and I were in Rome for a few days and this was by far the best restaurant we went to, including some much more expensive restaurants. The service, the wine, and the food, are all amazing. We actually ended up coming here twice. The first time we were seated next to another couple who’d come for the second time during their trip because of the great experience they had the first time they came. After we finished our meal it was obvious why they did so, we were blown away by how good the food was. The second time we came we were seated to a regular who’d been coming regularly for years. She told us there is no other place as good in the area. Take it for what it’s worth, but if you stumble across these reviews, I’d highly recommend you go here! It will probably be the very best place you eat in Rome.

Restaurant is located in the middle of a long alley of restaurants with pushy servers trying to get you to eat at their place. This was one of the very few places that didn’t have the annoyance factor and one of the main reasons why we selected the place. Plus it looked very nice and cosy. It was a great choice. We had one of our best meals in Rome here. We started with the fried artichoke but wasn’t very impressed with it since it was dripping in oil and wasn’t seasoned very well. This was not a good start but then came the pastas. Linguine with clam sauce and the homemade pasta with black truffles was to die for. We kept fighting over who would eat which pasta and even though it was huge portions, we demolished both plates. The entrees were a hit and a miss. One was tripe with tomato sauce and cheese, not very stellar and wouldn’t order again. But the other osso bucco with beans and tomatoes was delightful. All in all, i would definitely recommend the place and would go back to get the truffle pasta.

Great restaurant near the Pantheon… It’s surrounded by other smaller places that cater to tourists, this is the place to be if you want a solid meal.

What a great little place. We decided to eat here for two reasons. first we Unilocaled it which helped us. Second as we were walking down the street and all the other restaurants had employees out there trying to pull you into their place, this place didn’t. We ordered the caprese salad which was fantastic. We got a bottle of the house wine which was 1L fir only 10 euro. Then we ordered two pasta dishes which were amazing. Definitely try this spot.

Among the plethora of touristy restaurants near The Pantheon, we found this amazing gem. You walk inside and feel like you’ve entered an Italian home and left the tourist hustle and bustle completely. The décor is charming, the staff is incredibly friendly(especially to us English speakers with almost no Italian) and the food is amazzzzzzing. It’s the best meal we have had-the ravioli and pasta with meat was just so unbelievably tasty and affordable! Plus the house white was super tasty.

Great ambiance and definitely has more of a local feel despite being nestled in between more touristy restaurants near the Pantheon. They were one of the few restaurants in the alleyway that did not have a host or hostess standing outside trying to get us to eat there. We waited about 10 minutes for a party of 2 to be seated without a reservation on a Friday night. The restaurant is small and only has about 10 tables. The menu is extensive and quite affordable for the location. We ordered the black truffle pasta and oxtail dish. The truffle black pasta had chunks of truffle in it and was so rich. The oxtail dish was quite flavorful as well. Overall great option and would recommend it!

We came here on a Sunday night. We were skeptical because when we showed up there was no one in the restaurant while near by restaurants were full of people. However, we decided to go in based on the reviews from other Unilocalers and the fact this was one of the few restaurants where there wasn’t someone trying to grab you. We ordered the home made pasta with truffle(€ 15) and home made pasta with pork sauce(€ 12 or 13). Both pastas were well done. Someone said this was the best pasta in Rome, which I think might be too much, but I’m willing to bet this is probably one of the better restaurants in this alley. Make sure you mix the pasta well because the first couple bites might be a tad salty otherwise. Of the two pastas, the truffle was definitely better. The smell, texture, and taste were all superior to the pork sauce pasta. Would definitely recommend that pasta.

I love the location. A little side winding alley filled with outdoor seats, perfect for people watching and getting the full Roman experience. My Canadians friends suggested I give this place a try, so off I went to try it. I’m so happy I did and I suggested it to every American I met on my tours.

The restaurant is down a street accessible from the far end of the piazza in front of the pantheon. It was down a street where there are a ton of restaurants and is a main area for tourists, so try and find as there a bunch of places to choose from. The food was great! I had Amatriciana — a dish that originates in either Rome or the town Amatrice. They correctly made it with guanciale(pig jowl(cheek)) and it was fabulous. Do not order the fried artichoke. It was literally just a deep fried artichoke. I was expected something more Sicilian where the artichokes are battered and fried and are 10 times better than just an artichoke dropped in oil. Everything else was great, and it was a very pleasant experience. The waiter is quite jolly, and they were not soliciting people off the street as many of the other restaurants nearby were doing.

It was a little hard to find at first but really worth it. Really friendly server greets everyone with free glass of wine to open your appetite. Lots of pasta to choose from for those pasta lovers like myself. Warning their signature dessert the homemade tiramisu is to die for! Big portion, super creamy and delicious flavor. Would definitely find this gem on my future trips ;)

I have NO idea why the first reviewer gave this restaurant 2 stars. This is the BEST food we had in Rome, bar-none. The staff is friendly and helpful– we waited a bit outside, but they gave free wine and apologies for the wait. The pasta here is incredible. I’m vegetarian, and there were TONS of options. Additionally, my meat-eating mom and aunt ate like queens. We The ambiance is charming and intimate(be sure to ask about some of the photos on the wall that show family and restaurant history). It’s a rustic, warm experience. The service is also amazing– Stefano(owner) is incredibly nice– greeting as many as he can!- and the rest of the staff was friendly and helpful. My only regret is that we only had 4 days in Rome… I would have eaten here for weeks on end. I disagree completely with the other review(it may be hidden because it’s in Italian) about the variety of food here: there was a HUGE, satisfying menu. It’s not particularly expensive, and it’s literally ½ block from the Pantheon. Seriously, I can’t recommend this restaurant enough! Go there. Immediately. And if you have to stand outside for a bit to get in, do it. It’s worth it. And tell Stefano I say hi.
