This is a solid place if your looking for italian food. Nothing too fancy but you do get what you pay for here. Everything is in single portions it seems but it is priced accordingly. They do not charge for bread, but coperto is 1.50 at this time.

While in Rome we ate here twice because the food was good the wine very reasonably priced. They have a large outside cover patio. Also the menu is very large and has something for everyone. The service is slow because they are very busy.

If you are looking for a lot of food, or a small price this is the place to go! My soccer team and also groups of friends had dinner here plenty of times during my study abroad semester and are never unsatisfied. Drink some of the nice house wine with some bread and enjoy your conversations outside or in the large restaurant they have. It is always busy so call ahead fro reservations or be ready to wait a bit. But, it is worth it and has never left a belly empty. Service is quick and they are wonderful people. If not Italian watch out here in general because places don’t split checks. Otherwise, make sure you are ready for a bit of a wait if you want to be outside and enjoy!

Cheap, va bene food, stronza workers, long fila.(grilled seabass not so good) mussels are okay and spaghetti and pizza too . But the way how the waiters treat you is something amazing i felt like so sorry that I want to finish my wine… They took the glass from the guests before finishing. Amazing che stronza che sono

Still busy every night of the week. We used to come here when we studied abroad back in 2011. The prices have NOT changed. We had three carafes of house red, a pizza and a pasta dish EACH and only spent $ 15 euros. Wait staff is rude, but as long as you prep yourself and know what you want, you really can’t beat the quality and the price points.

One of my go to spots in the neighborhood while I was living in Trastevere. Cheap, fast and delicious. 8 euro house wine and any of the pastas(especially gnocci) are your best bet, although everything I’ve ever ordered is great. Sit outside, watch the city go by and enjoy a fantastic meal. Don’t let the(sometimes) poor service lead you to believe you need to leave as quickly as the food comes out. They will not rush you out, so sit back, drink and enjoy!

This restaurant in Trastevere was an unsuspecting little surprise. We went here for lunch and thought that the menu prices were great. Large pizzas for under € 6. We stayed across the road and at night this restaurant was always full. I suspect to the cheap prices compared to everywhere else in Rome however the food is very comparable for those that you would pay 2 – 3 times the cost. The staff were very friendly and accommodating on our little Italian but helped us along with our pronunciation. I’d definitely head back here to eat dinner next time.

My friends and I randomly walked into this joint Bc we were hungry as hell and the place was huge and crowded with people in the patio area. We opted to sit inside w the AC. We all got an order of pizza and it was big. For like 2 – 3 euros you get a huge pizza(we should have known we are in Italy)… I think prices were cheaper Bc we weren’t in the main tourist location of Rome. Pizza was good but not amazingly good. It satisfied our hunger and we all had more than half a pizza left to take back to our hotel(which we are for dinner)… Overall a decent place to eat at.

We came here for our first meal in Rome and were so excited for some real Italian food! Unfortunately, we had all tasted better Italian food in America. Such a let down for our first meal. Also, the wine is very expensive compared to other restaurants nearby. The only reason it is so crowded is because it is one of the first restaurants you see when walking in. I recommend going in a little further for more options. Also, the bruschetta means one slice of bruschetta.

We were in Rome for 5 days and managed to eat here everyday! Its so good and sooo cheap! Please note, the BEST time to go is after 3PM, this way you sit outside and avoid crowded tables(they do bring out extra tables and sit you very close to each other). The service is fast, delicious and abundant. My favorite was their shrimp pasta, along with their complimentary bread. We also ordered the liter wine for 8 euros and tiramisu for desert. DELICIOUS !

It was very cheap and very filling. Their seafood gnocchi is sooooooo good, when I studied abroad in Rome, I ate there every Thursday, because that is when they made fresh gnocchi. Some other things I liked were their artichoke dishes, as well as their desserts. I would highly recommend it if you are traveling on a budget and you want a large multi-course meal. However, if you are looking for an upscale or a restaurant where everything is a guaranteed delicious dish I would look elsewhere(their food is very good, but there were a few things that were mediocre on the menu). Also do not order their red wine it is not very good.

BESTITALIANFOOD! Our first night we had Olga as our server she was wonderful! We order a pizza to start which was amazing, my mother got the Carlos Menta pasta which was very good, my boyfriend got spaghetti with meat sauce which was delicious and I got the spaghetti with shrimp which was mid blowing. We went back 3 times after that! Everything is cheap and wonderful. We will be telling our family and friends to come here when they arrive in Rome!

We decided to eat here three times while in Roma. Reason being was that the food was sooooo good, and it was so inexpensive. You can’t ask for anything else in my opinion. Also they have an amazing terrace-patio that faces a lively area of Trastevere. On a few nights the CD selling tent across the way would provide us with a good mix of Italian current pop music and trendy music of the day. It was free music while on the terrace. As well, they have a few cars parked outside the patio-terrase so it provided a good barrier so other cars couldn’t drive up close. Did I mention the patio-terrase was just awesome in the evening as it was well shaded and service was always pretty attentive and top notch. We did have to flag down the servers by raising our hand but then they were quite attentive to our needs! So on my first evening I ordered off the tourist menu. You get a bruchetta appetizer then a first course of pasta(carbonara) and then a second course(Milenese style cutlet w fries) and a choice of dessert. All of this for wait…13 euros. Second evening and third evening I ordered the Special pasta with seafood 8 euros and again the Milanese style cutlet. Seriously for a seafood pasta for 8 euros? This would be $ 22 — $ 24 back in Montréal. It was just all amazing! My wife ordered different kinds of pizza and we were never disappointed for the price! Pizza Marinara(no cheese) is just 2 euros. Pizza Margherita was just 3 euros!!! Seriously! I’m glad we ate here three times while in Roma as we looked around at a bunch of menus other places and none were as reasonable as this and the food was just amazing! *****keep in mind also they do put a service charge for tip on the bill. Look for it. No need to extra tip! Come check it out, I’d be surprised if you are disappointed!

We came into this place we had seen it very busy the night before and assumed they must have had great food. The prices are fantastic, but I guess the price is meant to replace good service? The service was terrible and our waitress gave us an attitude the entire time. The food was not great either, had it been sitting out all day? I’d only recommend this place if you’re on an extremely tight budget and have no taste buds

Great food, great servers. We went there on Saturday night, at around 8pm. It was very crowded and we had to wait 15mins. While we were eating, the line seemed to grow much longer. It was extremely busy but our waitresses were very nice. The portion is not big but it is cheap so we ordered total meals between three. Pizza was great! Tiramisu was good too.

Extrem gut besuchte Touristen-Pizzeria inmitten Trastevere.

Carlo Menta offers a reasonably priced menu, outside or inside dining and a well trained staff. While the food isn’t what you would get in a less tourist focused place, it’s good and fast. It offers a tourist menu(yes, I know) that offers four courses for 13 eu. It’s a great place for a quick meal and some good house wine.

I had to write a review for this place for my food writing class while studying abroad at AUR. Many of the expats that I met there scoffed at this place, comparing it to an Olive Garden. Shame on them! Although I was told to never patronize a restaurant that had more than one language on its menu for translating purposes, Carlo Menta just wants it’s guests to feel welcome. The service is alright, sometimes rushed, which is rare for Italia, but by the time you’ve downed a carafe of their house red wine, you won’t even notice. All of the pasta dishes I have had there are delicious. My favorite was the penne with peas and pancetta! Also their amatriciana is excellent. It is in a prime location just at the start of your walk into the heart of Trastevere. Can’t miss it!
