We came here for lunch at a weird hour but the staff was extremely welcoming. We had the tomato salad and that was very fresh and simple but delicious. As a second we had the fettuccine with tuscan sauce, a spicy bolognese. Also very delicious. The best was the florentine steak we had. It was seasoned and cooked perfectly and served with equally perfectly seasoned and roasted potatoes.

Mission in Florence: hunt down the famed bistecca fiorentina. Two days before we were in Florence, we called TA and made a reservation for 7PM. When we arrived, we were told that since we didn’t specify on the phone whether we wanted outsdoor or indoor seating, we had to sit inside because they were booked for outdoor seating. After we were seated, it took the waiter 20 minutes to come take our order. I don’t think they appreciated that we brought our own water bottles and didn’t purchase any beverages. For a party of four, we ordered a bistecca fiorentina(2lb florentine steak for two, € 38) and a fettuccine bolognese(€ 10). It was just enough food for us since we’ve been snacking and eating gelato all day. The steak came with the most amazing sage potatoes. The steak was amazing too. Pasta was nothing compared to the steak but a good filler. If you’re in Florence, check this place out! No one should leave Florence without having tried a bistecca fiorentina and this place doesn’t disappoint. Beware that the service may not be the best though.

I was in florence for only two nights and a friend who had been here recommended to go, I was almost out of time because I had another thing planned but decided to try to eat there anyway! I am so glad I went, the food was so good, the pasta was cooked perfectly, the sauce, everything was really delicious. Also, I tried a tomato salad, I had no idea what to expect cause it was my first time and I was so happy I ordered it, it was perfectly done, simple yet delicious. I wish I could have eaten more of their food or stayed longer but at least I got to eat really good italian food! Definitely go!

This place had great food and everything that the owner recommended was great. We loved the steak and the kids loved their pasta. This is one of those places that ensure you get more than your moneys worth. The only reason it doesn’t get 5 stars was the steak between me and my wife were off and we couldn’t tell which one was the proper way that they cook it there in Firenze.

After a harrowing experience driving the streets of Florence, we stumbled upon Trattoria Antellesi, and after talking to the owner(?), decided to give it a shot. My aperol spritz was delicious– the bartender even put a whole orange slice on top of my glass; nice touch. I ordered a dish of the region; spaghetti with boar ragu. It was really good. I know this sounds weird, but it’s delicious– DON’T eat the little black ball spice looking things in your dish. I made the mistake, it wasn’t very pleasant. Service was good; the workers there kept checking on us. Lots of restaurants in Italy are slow, meaning, it could take 45 minutes, 1 hour, maybe more. Just be patient, it’s surely worth the wait!

This is a little neighborhood restaurant with terrific food. After being in Italy 10 days, I needed a change from pasta… I ordered the steak… it was cooked perfectly(medium rare) and seasoned well and very delicious. My husband had pasta with clams… which he loved… with a light sauce of olive oil and a little garlic. The ambiance is warm and friendly and the owner interacts with everyone. We had to wait a few minutes for a table as did another group of 3… The owner treated each of us to a glass of champagne. I highly recommend this little gem!

Great Florentine steak, great size for the price, and an eccentric host. Plus they have free wifi if you ask.

Cosy, warm and friendly. And the food is great. I think I had an osso bucco as it should be although had dozens before that one. Thick and tasty tomato sauce. We also has a biftecca that you could call T-bone steack. Tender and tasty. House wine acceptable. Definitely a must and prices are very reasonable. Recommended.

2011, Firenze, Osso Buco. Changed my life forever. If this restaurant remains here whenever faith leads my heart back to italy, I will definetely come back to this restaurant if I am in Santa Maria Novella Firenze again. The restaurant has a home like/romantic vibe to it. The restaurant owners and the staff are great and the food impeccable. If only italian food tasted this great here in the U.S., to die for.

Seven years ago, my friend ate at Trattoria Antellesi, a remarkable restaurant run by an Italian chef and his American wife. It’s nice to know that Trattoria Antellesi still stands today and the food is just as good as it was then. In actuality, Trattoria Antellesi has been in business for over thirty years. It’s a historical place which sits in a seventeenth century building. Yes, so many buildings are old in Europe. And yet they are strong, still standing, and fit in without a question in today’s modern life. The atmosphere is homey at Antellesi. No one is rushed and the food is made with such care and detail. It’s simple fare and delicious without shortcuts. I ordered the osso bucco, which tasted as if it were braised for hours. It was tender and soft. I didn’t even need a knife to cut it. The veal was melt in your mouth. Slices of soft carrots, celery, peas, onions and capers were spooned over it. The sauce had been thickened. Aside from the meat, my favorite part was taking the marrow and spreading it over my bread. Oh heaven! The other dish we ordered was grilled salmon with salad. It was perfect. The skin was crisp, the fish was not overcooked, and it had a flavor so fresh. Just a few herbs, olive oil, and a squeeze of lemon. Good to go! Very healthy. Dessert was non-existent for us since the kitchen had run out of tiramisu. It wasn’t an issue for us since there was a gelateria right across the street. Trattoria Antellesi is the type of restaurant where you could linger for awhile. Large groups have fun and couples can enjoy that quiet evening out. Yes, the two scenarios exist side by side at Antellesi. I watched many go from course to course– bread to pasta to meat all washed down with a bottle of vino. Cheers to Antellesi! I can’t wait to recommend this place to my friends and hear about it seven years later. Although I do hope you go now! Today! Okay, next year? L’atmosfera è familiare a Antellesi. Oggi! Ok, l’anno prossimo?
