Fantastic pizza — they say the crust is made three days ahead of time and it doesn’t disappoint. Make sure to have everyone get their own pizza. Great prices too — including for bottles of wine. Would definitely return here the next time I’m in Florence.

Awesome pizza! We only tried the margherita, broccoli and sausage, and potato and nduja. Service was fast and friendly. No complaints. Come here for the closest thing to Napolitan pizza.

Santarpia was exactly like I imagined it to be. Hard to get a reservation, nestled in a piazza that isn’t really that special in Florence. But the pizza? That is another stratosphere in itself. I knew about the place for a few weeks now since it hit the ‘gambero rosso’ popularity circuit, the sort of ‘foodie bible’ for Italians. Giovanni Santarpia was already well-known for his pizza about 40 kilometers outside the city in San Donato. We used to drive out there on warm, summer evenings to eat my favorite ricotta-stuffed crust, rucola topped pizza on the terrace. I loved it there but I am also secretly happy to have him here. After the third(I kid you not — this isn’t NYC!) time trying to get a reservation that wasn’t at 7pm or 10pm, we finally got a 8:30 slot on a Friday night and were eager to try it for ourselves. The place is modern, sort of L-shaped with the pizza oven directly to your left as you enter. Our table was shoved into a corner next to the bathroom(VIP every day yall!) but we were sat next to three older Italian men who were an absolute job to overhear. We ordered two different pizzas, your classic margherita and a crema di zucca with guanciale version. We split both and wow, what a dream they were. Neapolitan style, the crust was perfectly cooked and the ingredients were really of wonderful quality. I skipped the beer and had Rose wine which wasn’t very good. Just get the beer folks, they have artisan options too. After wolfing down the pizza, we both ordered dessert, a pistachio panna cotta for my husband and I got a cake that was so delicious, I don’t even remember what was inside because I ate it too fast. Believe the hype, the place really is excellent, definitely a contender for the pizzas at Torcicoda or Mercato Centrale :)

Santarpia was a hit before it moved to Florence and when it opened a storm of pizza fans filled the place. I had to taste it ans after a few weeks of running, we could only find a spot after 10 pm. Yes, it’s that busy! The deal is that every ingredient is chosen with care, bought at the market or from a bio food supplier, their Tuscan bread is freshly made every day, dough for pizza rests for 48 hours and that makes it easy to digest. Few choices but innovative and well crafted on this tall Naples style pizza! Try their fried antipasti if you’re in for a treat. My fifth star is holding back for the furniture choices and the prices that may be a valid offer for tourists but we are used to a different kind of deal.
