About 6 weeks into our stay in Florence and we were craving a good burger. I mean, we’re from the Midwest – it’s unheard of to go more than a couple weeks without having one. Unfortunately, even though Drogheria seemed like a promising place to get our burger fix, we left appreciating the good try but ultimately decided that maybe the best place to get an good American burger was… America. First of all, when we saw that Drogheria was open all day we were thrilled at the chance of getting dinner before it got dark. Unfortunately, when we got there at about 6pm, we were told that they were serving drinks but wouldn’t serve food until 7pm. We did pass the time sipping on some drinks – a Hemingway for my husband, a negroni for me, and a soda for the kids – and munching on some chips that the bar sent our way. Nice way to tide us over a bit. We ended up ordering our burgers at about 7:15. We got a Supertuscanaccio and Delux, both of which came with their chips, which are thick-cut and very delicious. The Supertoscana came on Tuscan sliced bread with prosciutto, mushrooms, and truffle oil while the Delux was on a bun with bacon and egg. The Supertuscanaccio was interesting – the mushrooms and truffle oil were the main flavors that I picked up from that burger. The Delux was better; it’s hard to beat beef, cheese, bacon, and egg. However, in the end, we decided that burgers using Italian ingredients aren’t the same as burgers with American ingredients. For me especially, I realized that I was barking up the wrong tree – my favorite part of American burgers are the juicy beef, with fat oozing out and flavorful bread and Drogheria – through no fault of their own – doesn’t have that because Chianina beef isn’t as fatty as American beef and tuscan bread isn’t salty like American bread. We were glad that we at least gave Drogheria a try. dishes were an interesting lesson in different cultures. However, being a bit unsatisfied with the burger and at about 14 –16 Euro a plate, we weren’t raving about this place at the end of the night. If you’re in Florence for several months like we were and are *really* in the mood for something other than Italian food then check out Drogheria. Otherwise, leave American burgers for a visit or trip back to America.

Fantastic burgers and cocktails. What I liked about this place was that although they sell burgers, it was a bit different. There were lots of options on the menu with some Italian twists. I went for a delicious burger oozing with cheese. The meat was medium rare and the whole thing was messy and delicious. I loved the chunky crisps served with it too. Service was friendly throughout. We sat ourselves down and a waitress headed over to take our orders. A wide variety of fun cocktails, great atmosphere and music too. Definitely somewhere to visit if you want something a bit different while you’re in Florence.

I have had quite an hard time to rate La Drogheria, mostly because I was unsure whether to assign 5 stars or 4 stars. In the end I went for 4 stars, mostly because the dessert was quite«normal» and did not excel like the rest of the meal. First things first, the place is quite popular, booking is mandatory. Secondly, in Florence there is an expansion of «american burgher» joints, unfortunately most of them are not very good, and lack that«last mile» that would get them to be like things are in the US. La Drogheria does an excellent job under that point of view, offering a great atmosphere, a modern ambient, and a great great great level of burgher. Our dishes where big, chips were great, meat was cooked perfectly, tasty and juicy. Buns are great too, not the mass produced stuff that you get in many other places in Florence. Surely they are mass produced too, but at least I don’t get the impression that I could buy them at the Supermarket down the road… Menu is not overly complicated but offers a great variety of items and also some veggie dishes. Shame for the cake(we tried cheesecake), that was rather bland. To my review, they lost 1 star there. All in all I’d say that it’s one of the best places in Florence for burghers and grilled meat.

Looking for burgers while traveling in Florence? Go here now! This place rules for sure! They feature a great number of speciality burgers with all kinds of interesting toppings. You’re certain to be impressed. So, everyone told me not to eat burgers while traveling in Italy… but, after getting a bit tired of pasta, I did just that – twice! And, both times, I was not let down. One of those burger experiences was at Drogheria – a place that’s a bit off the beaten path in Florence but definitely worth walking the extra distance for. For my burger, I tried the Supertuscanaccio(new according to their menu). This burger featured a burger patty as well as mushrooms, proscuitto, and pecorino mugellano cheese… all served on grilled panini-style bread! TASTY! Tony tried the Brunch Burger, which featured scrambled eggs, bacon, and cheese on the burger! He enjoyed his burger just as much as I did. Note that we happened to hit up Drogheria for Sunday Brunch, which I later learned is another thing they’re known for besides burgers. Check this place out if you’ve been in Florence for a while and jonesing for a good burger! You’ll definitely be glad you did!

It’s an upscale burger joint. I’m a vegetarian. Luckily there are also 3 veggie options. Though not a fan of seitan, I am not dead yet and it was pretty tasty. Brilliant hand cut chips. Fun décor. Lurisia drinks. Upscale prices.
