I went there with my friend last night. As soon as you get in you realize you are in a different place. The interior design is definitely a great in and of itself. The first time you see Johnny you quickly realize that he is the matter mind behind this venture. You can tell he built the entire store around his passion for good food and«cose fare bene» or things well done, as we say in Italy. His food is no exception. Everything is well thought down to the details. I got the bruschetta with prosciutto porcini mushrooms and cheese. Really good. I am craving it, just talking about it. I am a believer of Johnny Bruscetta. As a closing note«sche» is a hars sound like skate not soft shelf. Order a brusketta and not a brushetta.

The main issue here is to understand«what» to rate. If you rate the idea, the owner(Daniele is simply fantastic), the beautiful furniture and the serving style the place deserves a «fat array» of 5 stars. If you rate the food that’s where things start to come undone a little, not because the bruschettas taste bad, but just because it’s a pretty simple food, re-engineered with a funky presentation. Some of the pieces that we tried did not taste as great as they looked, some others were just a collection of flavours that just went one on the top of the other. I came out thinking that it’s a very nice place to go to if I don’t really want a pizza but I still want something«bread based». Cakes were good, and I loved the idea of the drought beer brought to the table with the tap to let each guest pour his/her pint when wanting a refill. The idea is simply groundbreaking(he’s opening in several locations around the world), it’s a very basic food presented in a great way, in a great setting by really great waiters. I wasn’t excited by the food(in the end one of the main reasons for going there), but I thought that it was good nonetheless. Good, not great, so in the end I was left a little let down, hence the 3 stars. Mind you, if you are visiting Florence and have time it’s absolutely a place to visit.

Johnny is a genius. Probably his name is not Johnny for real but i loved his bruschettas all the same. I tasted two of them and was absolutely convinced. I love the concept of this place: you order bruschettas of 40 cm, and they come on long wooden board, which is fun. Plus you get to share with people and taste more stuff. A very convivial meal with plenty of flavors! Very important of course for a bruschetta: the bread is of very good quality! All the bruschettas have names of Italian cities. I tasted the«Montepulciano» which was delicious and very very tasty with a kind of purée of funghi that was amazing. I also tried the healthier«Vinci», which was very good but more boring(as healthier generally are, vegetables usually bring the fun down). Really good! The dessert was delicious too, a chocolate fondant, and believe me i eat a lot of them where i come from, and this one was really good. So Johnny also knows stuff out of bruschetta business. The place is very vintage, very welcoming, and when you arrive you are offered a glass of prosecco and some small pieces of bruschetta: very cool idea!

This is a new local trend inspired my an ancient tradition of Tuscany cuisine: The bruschetta. For those who don’t know the term, it refers to a typical slice of warm toasted bread topped with sauces or fresh ingredients, served as appetizer before dinner, and generally accompanied with a prosecco glass. This restaurant built its idea on the bruschetta theme, preparing very long slices of toasted bread with different choices of toppings. Furthermore, you can find other typical Tuscany recipes such as soupes like Ribollita, depending on season ingredients. The dessert part offers regular cakes or even sweet bruschette. Overall a very nice ambient, vintage mood and good food. Fried bread called Coccoli a little too heavy for my taste, but try the truffle oil chickpeas soup, simple and delicious!

Super!!!

I had the recent opportunity to taste the wonders of this newly opened bistro, Johnny Bruschetta. It is centrally located near the Sant’Ambrogio/Santa Croce area of Florence. I can’t help but be in love with a place that has bruschetta by the meter! The concept and décor of the place was styled just right. I liked it right away with various wooden cutting boards and chalkboards lining the walls. The place feels immediately warm and cozy. While you wait, you’re served a welcome glass of prosecco and you know that we’re off to a great start! Don’t you love places that give you that little extra touch when you arrive? I know I do. The dishes are very abundant in portion and if you want to leave room for dessert(which I highly suggest you do), don’t order too much, as you will fill up before you know it! The bread for the bruschetta is homemade and toasted to perfection, being thinner than traditional Tuscan bread it felt lighter… making it easier to eat more! They also serve gluten-free options, so be sure to ask while ordering. The bruschetta with grilled vegetables and melted pecorino was divine! Go for the cheesecake, they switch up the toppings based on what fruit is currently in season. I tried the cheesecake with fresh fig compote and I gobbled it up in record time… it was *that* good. Daniele(the face of the bistro’s logo), was not only friendly but, super helpful with explaining everything on the menu. You can tell that a business will do well when you see the passion behind the owners. The entire staff had on similar plaid shirts, suspenders and the male staff had beards. Now, how fun is that!
