Great atmosphere, great food, great service and fair prices. Been around along time and that says a lot these days.

Popped in here for a quick drink with my friends Nameless 1&2 — well dragged in actually as I wanted to go home. The barmen were polite and friendly. It is quite a dark pub although big and specious. I have had a pub lunch here in the past and it was very good no idea what it might be like now but I would be happy to back and try their menu. Only 3 stars because I was only there for one drink and did not see what the toilets were like or the outside smoking arrangements. I left alone and it is a very good spot to get a taxi just outside and there are tables to sit at while you wait.

Goggins is a darkish but open pub with a nice atmosphere. There are 2 parts to it, the older traditional bit to the front and a modern, carpeted groovy bit to the back. There are also a few Tvs scattered around the place which I absolutely hate in a pub but in the case of Goggins I am willing to forgive as it is about the only thing that is wrong with the place.

Goggins is a great local pub in which to meet a group of friends, as they have big tables with large booths that a group can cram into without too much of a squeeze. The pub is generally not too packed, and you should never have trouble getting a seat. The outdoor smoking area is where I’ve spent most of my time on nights out here. They’ve built a really nice wooden decked area, which is covered in and heated by outdoor heaters. There’s big old whiskey barrels to sit at, and a convivial we’re-all-here-snuggled-for-warmth-together kind of vibe.

Every little town has it’s local. some towns have many locals… some have too many. Monkstown has one… its called Goggins and its a happy little pub. It’s your run of the mill local, you will get to know the staff very quickly and they want to get to know you. The prices are standard. the seating is standard, nothing is too extravagant, nothing is too fancy… its a place to go and meet a friend for a quiet one before heading back to reality… Exactly what a local is for! The off-licence is a handy addition next door for those who plan to continue the party elsewhere.

Relaxed, generally empty, local. Goggins is an exceptionally friendly pub, a family pub even. I went in the other day to find the barman nursing a baby. His mates had brought it along for a visit, it’s that type of place. Gets a posh middle-aged crowd on Fridays and Saturdays. Has an excellent smoking area and a load of fireplaces, great for hot whiskeys around Christmas. The attached offy helps keep the party going, it’s a nice pub to drop into for one or two before hitting the offy and the road.
