Enjoyed a Saturday evening meal here while visiting Dublin. The food was good, prices are reasonable, and the facility is very nice. More of a Restaurant than a pub. Walked from the harbor, about a 15 minute uphill walk. Was quite busy, but at 7pm their was no wait. The bangers and mash, and the vegetarian pasta were both very tasty, and service was prompt.

Living so close to a pub has its downsides. Drunks leaving beer glasses on your wall, getting into fights on the streets and peeing way too close to your car… however there is the upside, such as getting free pint glasses left behind by Friday night punters. Woohoo! Anyway, my main problem with McCormack’s is the dodgy food — I have heard of people waking up the next day with food poisoning all too often after being there the night before(and no, I said food poisoning, not a hangover!). Still, I will give the place some credit since I used to go there for Sunday lunch the very odd time with my family when I was younger and lived to tell the tale. The back door is often clumsily left open which is great for a surprise robbery or rat infestation. If anyone has any ideas…

I arrived here starving. I had been here a long time ago and had not been back because I had forgotten how good it is here. You have a choice of sitting outside or semi-outside or inside. There is a car park. I had the roast beef with carrots and roast potatoes. The beef was pretty good… but the roast potatoes were the best that I have ever had. They were perfect and a perfect example of how roast potatoes should be. Seems to be all self-service which is fine and I decided to sit outside. As I sat down the ‘man’ said about giving scraps to the their dogs, perhaps he thought it funny. I ate quite happily apart from one of the dogs starring at me and whining. I asked the owner if the dog generally behaved that way she giggled and moved the dog. Some dog owners give other dog owners a bad name. Still 4 stars and I will look forward to going back there.

I go here some Sundays with my dad for a bite to eat and to watch the game. Its a nice place, airy and modern. It’s been kept well and updated frequently to keep it alive and kicking. They have a parking area around the back and plenty of TVs inside spo if you are looking for a nice bit of bar grub, a pint and a place to watch the game without too much int eruption this is a nice place to go.

More a restaurant than a pub in recent years McCormacks is busiest on Sunday afternoons when the carvery is in full swing. More accurately, it’s thronged. Word to the wise, if you want to beat the rush you need to beat the parish priest. There are 4 or 5 Churches within the space of a mile, work out their timetable and you’re laughing. That said, it’s good for a quiet one on week nights. And with the regulars all piled in around the bar it has an intimacy that you won’t always find in the midst of so much space.
