The Shoe Rack is one of those places that you maybe bought one or two things in years back, and as a result it has been indelibly etched in your memory as a great shop. Mistakenly so. Every time I pass the front window I feel compelled to pop in, but haven’t had any success in ages. Perhaps my quality radar has become more discerning in my old age, as the majority of shoes here are synthetic. Some styles are truly hideous, but there are a few, especially in the boots section, that are quite nice. From past mistakes though, I have learned that boots are for winter wear and are supposed to keep your feet dry, therefore worth an investment to get real leather ones. If a cheap, fashionable pair of shoes is what you’re after and quality and comfort is secondary, this is your place. If you want something that will last more than a couple of wears, try somewhere else.

Shoe Rack is a great place to check out if you’re jonesing for a new pair of shoes but don’t feel like spending a fortune. They have shoes of all shapes and sizes in a range of prices from über-cheap to expensive(but not ungodly so). Be forewarned however, as the cheap shoes are a similar selection and quality that you’d find at Penney’s or Dunne’s. There are a bunch of plasticky, uncomfortable heels and flats, but these are easily avoided because the shop does have some decent shoes too! Their sale section is really where it’s at though. Discounts are big, and unlike a lot of sale secrtions, you can find some great styles there. I saw some really adorable heels that were reduced from 80 to 20 euros! It was probably a big mistake not to buy them, so perhaps I will head back tomorrow and make things right.
