Wandering half lost in Central, I was thrilled to see the familiar sight of my subway station stop«Prince St» back in New York brightly emblazoned on a storefront. Not able to resist, I had to figure out what this slice of NY was doing in HK. I was warmly greeted by the host who suggested I try their wagyu beef burger. I sat at the counter and watched the chef put all the fixins together. I liked that he didn’t rush through cooking it and the result was fantastic! The bun was different than any I’ve tried on a burger and the meat was cooked perfectly. Could definitely compete with any burger from the Big Apple. I had to dock one star just for the amount of food for the price, but that could easily be corrected if they added one more side. Would highly recommend!

3 stars for effort, I like the concept but not the portions. The idea is to have different types of food from different parts of New York City. From your chicken and rice to you bulgogi sandwich. But mr jack of all trades… is a master of none. The portions and sizes leave you robbed and hungry. Could be fun place to bring a date or to reminisce about New York, but not a place for a bunch of dudes to get full at.

Street Meat is a restaurant/bar that serves NYC-styled fast food. The exterior design is like the entrance of a subway station in NYC. Inside the restaurant, there is a Prince Street station sign. The restaurant itself is quite a subtle one here on Wyndham Street. If you’re just walking by, it’s difficult to notice that it’s actually a restaurant given its special design like a NYC subway station. Regardless, it reminds me of the good old days in NYC! The six of us ordered most of the dishes on the menu to share, including the wings, lamp wrap, ramen burger, chicken bowl, lobster roll, station sliders, grilled corn, ribbon fries and one of the specials, ox tongue soup. The recommended dishes are the wings, ramen burger, grilled corn and station sliders. For dessert, their macaroon ice cream is a must-have! As you can tell by the name, Street Meat is not quite a vegetarian-friendly restaurant. However, the chef custom-made a veggie kimchi ramen burger filled with bell peppers for my friend who’s a vegetarian. Along with the fries and the corn, my friend was very satisfied. It seems like their cocktail menu is more interesting than their food. We all ordered different cocktails. However, what baffles me is that the drinks are quite expensive compared to the food. One cocktail is about double the price of a dish. I’m not quite sure if they want to distinguish themselves as a bar or a restaurant? The restaurant seems small as they only have a couple of seats surrounding the kitchen. However, there’s a hidden bar at the back if you just want to come here for drinks! Follow the sign that says«staff only» and you’ll enter into a whole new world.
