Highline is good. How good? It’s about as good as a place where you’d tell your friend that, «Hey, there’s a good place there.» Behind an one-way mirror* and the end of the restaurant Street Meat, it is quite purposely hidden. It’s not that hard to find once you know what you are looking for. The décor is great here, very stylish and cozy, and very different from Street Meat’s «New York subway joint» look. They serve primarily whiskies. And not surprisingly, to appeal to easy drinkers, they serve a good collections of Japanese whiskies. They are very proud of their cocktails(and mixology behind), but I never wanted to waste some good whisky with other mixes, so I only ordered a Hibiki on rocks, while the rest of my friends each ordered their own choices, but all whisky based. The bar is sponsored by Penhaligon too. So you’d notice a nice scent filled up the room, but only after they turned down the air-con quite a bit, after two guests individually asked them to do so. But otherwise? Price tag is at the edge of being called expensive. Ok it IS expensive, as they don’t have happy hour deals. Ladies got a glass of free whiskey every Wednesday, so it helps a bit. Also, quite a good strategy to place a bar here, and it certainly also drives people to eat at Street Meat afterwards too.(See my Street Meat review later for food.) Also — surprisingly they serve shisha too. I couldn’t imagine everyone’s there having shisha, as room was really limited and ventilation would be a problem, but it did add a bit of variety. * Note: I hate calling it one-way mirror as much as I hate calling it two-way mirror. It should be «one-way glass» instead, if you allow me to be a bit pedantic. But English is not about what it «should be», otherwise flammable and inflammable shouldn’t mean exactly the same thing either…

Highline is a hidden bar behind Street Meat — and anything secretive/hidden is cool right? The door of the bar is locked, but just tell one of the friendly staff at Street Meat you want to access the bar and they’ll gladly give you access. I love the décor of the place(see pictures yourself), and the cozy/dimmed light setting makes this place unique. Their signature cocktails include the Penhaligon’s perfume drinks — the concept is simple: when presented with a tray of Penhaligon’s perfumes, all you need to do is to pick the scent of your preference and the mixologist will prepare a corresponding cocktail. If you don’t feel like something fancy you can try their Rosemary infused gin tonic — tried that last night and think this just became my fav drink of the bar! There’s a nice outdoor area for the smokers. Also, I think the place is actually really ideal for private parties!
