I am sure the people who gave great reviews for this place are notorious drinkers. The food here… sucks. The service here, sucks even more. I was SO excited when I learned that there’s finally a Caribbean joint in Hong Kong. We tried to come here on a weekend night, the music was SO loud that you cannot talk to your company even you tried to scream. But I was so determined to try it so we went again during a weekday night. Pretty quiet there. Only 2 people were there(not sure if they work there or not). My bf wanted to make sure they are still open so he went in and ask if they still serve food. He had the most unwelcome greeting even encountered in our whole trip in Hong Kong. Whatever. I really wanna tried the food and they were still serving it. When we were about to seat ourselves, this woman who we thought was a customer came and asked if we came for drinks. We said we wanted to eat. She said let me check if we are still serving food. Huh? Somebody just told me you were. Anyway, I let her check but I didn’t know what was the point. Because she never came back and update us. Onto the food. There’s NOTHING Caribbean about the food. I am totally qualified to make this comment. I make Caribbean food quite often. I even go to a ethnic store and buy ingredients to make my own jerk sauce. If you never have beef patty before, the beef patty taste ok. But it’s not like Jamaican beef patty. The flour is not the crispy ones that you would have in an authentic Jamaican joint. But I know a lot of Westernized place make it this way. So I guess is ok. I love Callaloo so I ordered the Callaloo and Cassava Chips. It was a nightmare. I can’t even describe how bad the Callaloo taste. We also had the Carrot Cake. The flour was not coherent at all so when you slice it, it all fell apart. The service throughout was bad. When I asked about the items in the menu. The waiter seems like he knows nothing about it and tried to make shxx up. It was only us in the restaurant/bar, but the only waiter there was busy checking on the bartender and the owner’s conversation and it took us awhile to get his attention a couple of times. I looked up this place some more afterwards. It occurs to me that one of the bartenders that night was one of the owners. It’s pretty disappointing that the whole time we were there, we felt very unwelcomed. Nobody came to check on us. Everybody who were there did not look happy working there. Well, it was Monday, I guess… Do not come here if you want real Jamaican food. Come here if you want some drinks and not converse with anybody.

As much as I love to travel, I really didn’t put much forethought into exactly WHAT I’d be eating while staying in Hong Kong. Shortly after arriving I quickly realized that I probably should have put a tad bit more thought into it since I tend to stick to the basics when it comes to Chinese food(which for me pretty much equates to fried rice and lo mein). While I’m all for trying new things, I’m not very adventurous when it comes to Chinese food, so after a couple of days, I was frantically searching for some American food like a kid determined to find Where’s Waldo in a seemingly impossible environment. After walking up and down countless hills in the various ‘hoods of HK and almost giving up I finally laid eyes on Rummin’ Tings… At first glance I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. Could I be seeing what I think I’m seeing… And after taking a sec to refocus and make sure I was seeing clearly, my heart nearly jumped out of my chest. OMGosh!!! Yes, it was real. I was really surrounded by amazingly gorgeous looking American food. I couldn’t have ordered quick enough. Loretta(our server) immediately became my new bff as I bombarded her with endless qustions about which dish I should order. Everything on the menu seemed like it would be fantastic, but since I knew I couldn’t order it all, I settled on the Lump Crab Sole, Potato Salad and Cornbread w/chili butter. The lump crab sole was amazing, the potato salad was definitely hittin’ but the BIGGEST winner of the day was the CORNBREAD with the CHILI butter. Who would’ve thought that cornbread with just a hint of sweetness coupled with hot(really spicy hot) chili butter(something I’ve never heard of in my life) would have been so delish!!! It was so tasty that the hubby and I just couldn’t leave without ordering a second round. Everything here was perfect. The food was on point, service superb, and we actually met a couple of locals there that we ended up going out with later on that night. I’d highly recommend you drop by Rummin’ Tings if you’re looking to grab some grub and/or meet a couple of new friends!

Fun place for drinks on the way to LKF! Women usually get 1 for 2 drinks! Always ask!

We friends and I came here on a Saturday night for a girls night out and were pleasantly surprised with how good their drinks were! I had a piña colada and loved it. It wasn’t too sweet or strong, and it was an acceptable portion. The service here was great and so was the music. It was a nice mix of throw backs, Jamaican songs, and Top 40s. The venue itself is rather small though so be careful if you’re trying to go with a bigger group. Also, the A/C isn’t the best in there. Unless you’re standing directly under the A/C, it gets pretty sweaty. This place isn’t perfect, but it’s a great place to grab a drink and hang out with your friends.

Great range of rum and other cocktail list. Late night bar full of music and fun right on Hollywood road.
