Came here for lunch with a friend that works upstairs of Jardine House. To be honest, after being in Hong Kong for 2+ years, and even more when I was younger, this was the first time I had ever step foot into Jardine House! I’m glad my friend recommended this place because what a treat it was to have their vegetable ramen(it’s close to impossible to get japanese ramen in HK). I was pleasantly surprised at how good the broth was, the hot tea was just as delicious — haha. The service was good, but certainly slow due to the lunch time hustle bustle. We sat at the bar, I’d like to come back and get an individual table. Aside from the good food, the ambiance and décor were great as well. Until next time!

one of theh best wagyu i’ve ever had in town! we ordered 3 dishes: salmon tartare, grilled wagyu, n beef sukiyaki. salmon tartare: the sauce can bring out the fresh taste of salmon. a nice starter grilled wagyu(medium): i could tell the wagyu was a bit fat but the chef just handled it perfectly! it started to melt after my first chew! yummy! the best dish among the three! beef sukiyaki: balance of sweetness n freshness. the beef slices were a bit raw n pink though. great service. nice environment.

In the bottom of Jardine House is Miso, a huge(for HK) Japanese restaurant and teppanyaki bar. Being in the CBD, it is one of those places that is incredibly popular for business lunches, but less so for evening service. The set lunch runs at about HKD200−250, and comes with the standard miso soup, sashimi, and your selection of main. I thoroughly recommend the tempura, which is really light and fluffy, as well as hot through and crispy. The fried chicken isn’t great, but I think they may have forgotten it off our order and rushed it through. The sushi and sashimi sets were very fresh and tasty, the quality of the ingredients really coming through. However, despite the sashimi rice bowl coming with a cooked crab claw, I think this dish is better at Rei in the IFC. For refreshments, I do recommend the plum wine, which comes with a massive ice block and a real plum, and the Angry Boy, a Japanese dark ale. Service was a bit slow and patchy, but the place does get busy during weekday lunch. The staff are at least perfectly polite and attentive. At around HKD450 per head including some drinks, it is not cheap. However, it is a safe and reliable place for a business lunch, a friends gathering, or even single diners, as there is a separate teppanyaki bar that you can sit around without looking like a lonely saddo. Make sure you book for lunchtime, as despite it being a big place, it does get full quickly.
