Went with the hubby and got the curry loin and katsu prawns. They were perfectly fried without being oily. It was crisp but the meat was nice and tender. Honestly it was as good as some places in Japan we went to. This is def the place to go if you are looking for tonkatsu.
We went on a Sun night and it was a full house.

Tonkichi offers a wide selection of fried food items; pork, prawns, chicken etc.; all of which are pretty on point. Actually the food is always pretty good. I cannot speak for the sushi that this establishment offers; however, as I have never tried it here and have only seen one other group of people eat it.
In terms of gripes, there aren’t many, especially not on the frontier of food. Having said that, the staff is quite hit and miss. Sometimes the people are quite grouchy and usually they are very amicable.
TL;DR, the food is one of the best I have eaten for Japanese tonkatsu cuisine and I would definitely come many times again, but the staff can on the odd occasion leave something to be desired, though not often.

Tonkichi offers one of the best tonkatsu options in HK, if not the best. The set menus come with unlimited refill of rice and cabbage. The crust is deep fried to perfect crispiness, yet the meat remains tender and juicy. Apart from pork, there also deep-​fried prawns and oysters. There are also sashimi, sushi and salad, but those are not what one comes to Tonkichi for.
