With a fun name like Gastrobox, I expected this be quite the dining experience. Instead, we were greeted with mediocre food that lack any zeal at all. For appetizers, we ordered the calamari and corn tortilla nachos. The calamari was freshly fried and the squid itself was not rubbery. The batter lacked flavor, which made the whole dish just average. The nachos were weird made with Dorito nacho chips. I ordered their angus beef cheeseburger, and the meat weirdly didn’t really have any meat flavor. It came with fries that were OK. There were only two redeeming factors and reasons why I didn’t give this place a 1-star review: BOGO happy hour prices and the herb bread they give you as an appetizer. For this price range(~$ 120-$ 300), you can definitely get a much better meal elsewhere.

We were just looking for a nice place to have a farewell dinner in TST with plans to go elsewhere later in the night. Overall, Gastrobox was an awful experience and I would not wish a meal there on my worst enemy. First of all, the restaurant is tastelessly decorated, with paper place settings and disposable napkins. Not a good first impression. After sitting down and cracking open the menu we saw that they have raised prices from what is posted online. Furthermore, they offer a prix fixe menu for a fraction more than any entrée, which was an obvious way to find some value. The salad was fine, but my partner didn’t like it. The soup was essentially canned tomato soup with cream wildly splattered atop. It needed all the pepper they could muster. The entrée… I had risotto with«king prawn». The singular shellfish had been overcooked threeways and had more the taste and texture of mozarella than shrimp. In contrast, the risotto was not cooked properly and was still hard, dry and lumpy. It tasted terrible, too. The little flavour it gave was at best like green pepper but more accurately like moldy cheese and potato(parmesano it was not). I did not finish my plate and we left before our included coffee or tea — dessert was extra — after bein ignored by the wait staff for three or four passes by our table. I still have a bad taste in my mouth from my visit here and it’s not just from the food. DONOTGO. This is not authentic Western food; it is barely food.

The food was flavorless. We could’ve gone home and bought a can of Campbell’s soup and some shitty pasta for a quarter of the price.
