Good food, nice atmosphere and efficient service. It is a bit soul less though and everything seems to be standardized.

I was surprised to see the size of the portion of the meal when it came. My fork hardly fit in the pot where the baked beans were in. The menu stated«toast» but what I got was half of a toast slice with no butter. After having the main meal and desert I was still hungry. Flying Pan is about the same price but at least you will be full from the main course alone. Coming from East London where Brick Lane is known for its curry, this an interesting venue to visit. Staff are nice and welcoming but the place the looks more like a trendy bar rather than a place to relax and enjoy a coffee. Air conditioning was on full blast, it was blazing hot outside. I had to make the difficult to freeze or to fry. Oh well I at least I tried the place finally. Doubt I will try again.

Overall, I was happy to find this place and give it a try. Nothing terribly special based on brunch and an awful«Smokey Mary»(I had to ask for pepper and Tabasco to add to the watery tomato juice). Probably 3.5 stars, but I’ll(hesitantly) round up in hopes of the potential of the other dinner items and the outdoor terrace. Our group had the Everything breakfast, omelette, mac and cheese, cheese fries, eggs benedict, French toast, and a «jar» of mojito :) The food was ok: no exclamations of excellence nor complaints(other than a question about the uninvited red sauce over the omelette that tasted like a plain marinara). Sadly and confusingly though, 2 dishes our group wanted to order for brunch were already«sold out for the morning». They explained that a certain amount of that dish were allotted for brunch and those had already been ordered, but we could order the dishes in a hour(at 2.30pm) when they would allow the next ration of that dish to be available. I don’t work in F&B, but that doesn’t make any sense to me: they have the food available in the kitchen and refuse to serve it to someone who has asked for it, but tell them they can have it in an hour!!! I’m questioning whether it was appropriate to round up on this 4-star rating…

if you’re on ANY kind of a time schedule, probably best to skip this place. service is slow, and you’ll find yourself having to wave down waitstaff multiple times before someone bothers to approach your table to submit a food/coffee order or bring you your bill. in terms of atmosphere though, brick lane has a pretty sweet coffeehouse vibe. i had an iced latte and wanted to putter around on my computer for a little while on their outdoor terrace. they do offer free wifi, so come here if you want to sit outside and chill/work/play on your laptop for an extended period of time, smoking ciggies(if that’s your thing) and relaxing over some cups of coffee or even cocktails. the food menu has a decent variety of western-inspired dishes, and one perk is that breakfast is available all day. i had the salmon eggs benedict. now, i have a serious thing for poached eggs, and i get upset when a poached egg turns hard-cooked due to inattentive kitchen or waitstaff(letting eggs cook too long, letting eggs sit under a heat lamp, etc.). i was definitely pleased with the consistency of the yolk in the poached eggs i ordered; they were perfectly cooked. the hollandaise was clearly pre-made prior to service that day(a proper hollandaise should be made to order), but i don’t really hold that against brick lane since a pre-made hollandaise seems to be standard in more pedestrian breakfast/brunch places like this one. if you’re looking for organic/free-range/farm-fresh/healthy/quality-inspired food, look elsewhere. this is really just a nice coffeehouse with coffeehouse food(think starbucks food but on a real plate). no real maple syrup for their french toast, no real hollandaise, and the menu contains no indication of the quality/origin/etc. of their ingredients. the staff are pretty clueless on that front as well. probz will come back here for a coffee and wifi/laptop sesh if i’m ever in admiralty again and craving an outdoor seating area, but otherwise. .. i’m skippin’ it. and probz won’t order food from here again despite the perfection of the egg poach.

Great place for an all day breakfast. French toast however, it’s not as good as I thought. But do come as it is easy and relaxing here.

People had been saying how good Brick Lane was(on the Kowloon side), so I decided to check this place out. It was a nice weekend afternoon when the Occupy Central/Admiralty was still going on, so not many people here anyway(because of the roads/bridges to here are inaccessible). It was a super chill out place, with the option to sit on the balcony. Not much of a «view» per se, as it is facing the Government Headquarters, but it’s always nice to have some outdoor area in Hong Kong. I ordered a usual standard breakfast, and latte as usual. To me surprise, it took them so long to serve the breakfast, let alone the coffee, despite there were so few customers here. As we were sitting at the high table at the balcony, we could see what’s going on at the open kitchen. And we saw one of the staff washing dishes /glasses, but had no intention making our coffee. So we asked the staff, and the same went on for another 10mins. Apparently not everyone of them know how to brew a coffee and the imbalanced of distribution of work didn’t make a good impression. The breakfast was okay. I mean, you can tell by the picture that nothing was exceptionally good. We ordered the scones as well, which was pretty much pre-made so it was served in a timely manner. It was slightly better than average, but that’s that. If I wasn’t visiting here on a very chill out weekend with no other plans afterwards, I’d probably have left without waiting for the breakfast, and gave a 2 star review. But 3 is the max I can give at this point.

Catering skills are poor and not recommended for hosting events. Friend hosted a lunch and starters/main took forever. They keep on saying that it’s coming, they are preparing it(even for a mixed salad). It’s been an hour since we ordered. We literally had to go upstairs to the another venue to grab snacks and appetizers for the kids to eat. Need to up their game really fast!

Won’t come back again because: — 1) Super slow service — waited for an hour for our burgers and linguine. 2) Undercooked(pork) meatballs found in pasta — center was still pink and its pork so not really that safe for eating. They were tasteless meatballs to start with. 3) Ordered balsamic vinegar salad but it came in Italian dressing! They must have ran out of the vinegar and decided to use another dressing as some of us did get the vinegar dressing. First, they didn’t consult us about the switch. Secondly, it’s just odd because it’s a set menu for a private party that was pre booked days ahead. They had the exact headcount to plan this you would think. NOTIMPRESSED

the best egg benedicts in hong kong. thumbs up! we went there on saturday, so it wasnt that noisy n crowded. it’s great for friends to chat for the entire afternoon or for students to study for exams. one thing to complain: we think their water wasn’t «fresh» so they put oranges, but we could still taste the ugly smell… ewww maybe its a tactic to ask u to order drinks! haha
