I ordered the Dan Dan noodles here with a honey lemon water. You order and they give you a number card to place on your table and they bring the food to you when it’s ready. As I was waiting, one of the workers brought over a tray and took my number but I realized they brought the wrong dish. I compared the slip on the tray to my receipt and it was incorrect. They brought me #7 instead of my #5. I think the worker just looked for the first number and gave me the food. I brought it back and they all kind of stared at it for awhile almost in disbelief. Eventually, they took it back and gave me my number. The actual food was so-so. I’m not sure I would really call it Dan Dan noodles as it was very sweet but not spicy at all. The lemon water was good though. Probably won’t order here next time I’m at HKG or will order the dim sum dishes instead.

Located in the newer food court of the international terminal, Chen Fu Ji is essentially the Wikipedia of Hong Kong food: you will find food selection that includes the popular dim sum dishes such as shumai and various congee dishes. Chen Fu Ji’s decent food and reasonable price make this place an optimal place for a quick HK cuisine snack during a layover! While the food isn’t rave-worthy, the dim sum dishes at least are decent(Excellent by airport food standard), so unless you happened to be riding in business or first class on the plane, Chen Fu Ji is an awesome food break from the horrible airplane food! Even though it’s within the airport premise, the prices aren’t ridiculous thanks to the airport’s equal-pricing policy. For example, an order of shrimp dumplings is about $ 5USD. It would be blasphemy to claim Chen Fu Ji is a good representative of the HK cuisine, but if you are unfortunate like me and can’t explore Hong Kong itself, I think this restaurant is a good sampling spot that also serves as a good layover snack stop!

Chen Fu Ji Noodle House There are not many vegan options at this airport, but this place will do! For 9 U.S. dollars, you can get a bowl of vegetable noodle soup which consists of a dark broth, house made noodles, broccoli, cauliflower, and bok choy. Don’t be alarmed by the broth which looks like soy sauce. Surprisingly, it was not too salty, it was very simple and light. The noodles tasted fresh. It also helps that they have a window viewing of them making the noodles so it feels as though my noodles were made to order. :)
