I ordered a kid quesadilla meal at 13:36 and I didn’t get my food until 30 minutes later… There were two servers behind the counter and one inside the kitchen. I’ve been watching and observing the servers the whole time I was waiting(well it is meant to be for the customers to watch): they were really. really… slow and slow and SLOW!!! When it was around 13:50 I just had to ask the lady who took my order where my food is?! *starting to get impatient and to the point… I can feel the heat building up in me…* she told me to wait for a few more minutes… Food quality: didn’t feel like I’m eating a quesadilla at al(not sure if that’s because I ordered a kids size…) The tortilla they used is not what I expected(not in a good way). They made it crispy on the outside. Like come on I did not order a panini!!! One piece of advice: Don’t go when you’re in a rush and there must be better Mexican food choices than Cali-Mex in HK.

We order delivery from Cali-Mex on a pretty regular basis and it’s quickly become a favorite. Having ordered from a few of the nearby locations, we have found that the Luard Road location is SIGNIFICANTLY better than the other locations(at least in our delivery experience thus far — I have never actually eaten in any of the locations). My wife is a big fan of the Original Chicken burrito, and I am a big fan of their Grilled Chicken quesadilla. The medium-spice chipotle salsa is great and adds a nice amount of spice and flavor. Similarly, the grilled chicken is always tasty and well-cooked. The tortillas on the quesadilla are sometimes a bit overdone and get crunchy(which I actually like, but others may not) and the chips are oddly expensive as a side item. We usually just order the guac and use the stash of tortilla chips that are generally on hand in our apartment. One big plus for picky eaters like me – they have never once messed up my request to leave items off the quesadilla, which is majorly impressive! Keep up the good work Luard Road Cali-Mex, you are a welcome addition to our delivery rotation.

This isn’t Mexican food to me(but I’m from So Cal and bias… it’s not«Mexican» food unless it’s a taqueria on the side of the road or in a taco truck, the food made by an abuela from her own personal recipes haha) but it’s a nice Chipotle rip-off. I’ll take what I can get! Good high-quality ingredients and gigantic burritos. They’re expensive, but they normally last me two meals as I can only eat about half at one time. So at least there’s that! I recently had their breakfast burrito for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised! TONS of bacon stuffed in there with eggs and hashbrowns and salsa. Yum! One thing that made me raise an eyebrow at this particular location is I saw an employee, who was wearing rubber gloves, so as to safely handle ingredients, repeatedly pick up her phone and play around on it and then not change her gloves before handling the food again. Isn’t it a total DUHHH that phones are completely filthy? I thought that was super weird. And she wasn’t hiding at all which makes me think she was just completely clueless. Management could do themselves a favor and tighten up on teaching employees about cleanliness. Plus it was just tacky for her to be on her phone anyway. Germs and tackiness aside, a solid burrito with solid ingredients.
