I came again and the soup was hot. Yes it’s the best phở in HK. Thanks for bringing back a little bit of Mini Saigon of Cali for me! I tried their wings too and they’re good as well!

One of the best Vietnamese restaurants I’ve had in Hong Kong. Flavor of the food was quite good. We were able to try a lot of the different kinds of food including phở, banh mi sandwiches, spring rolls, egg rolls, and the noodles mixed with fish sauce. All were quite good, thought I did feel portions were a little small. Overall, if I were craving phở this would be a good place to go for it. It’s a smaller venue so there may be a wait at peak times.

This cute little tucked away restaurants definitely brings a tasty Vietnamese food option to the Central area. Although it still doesn’t compare to the Vietnamese food in California, Bun Cha is one of the best Vietnamese restaurants I’ve had in Hong Kong. We started off with their egg rolls, which were perfectly crispy and their spring rolls with beef, which were plump and light. For our main dishes, we had the pork bahn mi, beef phở and vermicelli with pork. The pork in the bahn mi was juicy and well seasoned, and the baguette was delightfully crispy. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the mayo that they put on it, but it wasn’t that big of a deal. The beef broth in the phở definitely hit the spot with pungent beef flavor, and the beef slices came raw which allowed it to gently cook in the hot broth with being overdone. Lastly the vermicelli had just the right combination of veggies, noodles, and meat. The noodles were also well prepared, not too mushy and not too hard. Overall, I would definitely recommend Bun Cha if you’re looking for some solid Vietnamese food.

I have to say, after trying out multiple mediocre Vietnamese restaurants, I feel like I finally came across one that has food that makes me happy. The broth is clear, and the taste is very clean. Not bad at all.

Good salads and fresh shrimp rolls. I’ve found that the beef can be quite tough, so I try and avoid the beef dishes as a generality. The chicken salad is full of fresh flavours and is my go to dish.

I’m constantly in search of authentic phở in HK which has been disheartening and is time consuming. I’ve been here twice now after reading a review on a HK food blog after it first opened and have finally gotten around to writing this review. The beef phở at Bun Cha reminds me of homemade phở I used to enjoy back in Sydney when my Vietnamese friend used to invite me over for dinner. The soup is light, tasty and not overly flavoursome due to MSG. The gripe I have with the phở at Bun Cha are the noodles. Phở I’ve had in Vietnam and Sydney never use dry noodles which even cooked for a long time still has the chewy texture. Unfortunately this is not Italian — al dente is not desirable, you want soft slippery noodles which can only be achieved with fresh noodles. Hong Kong is the land of fresh noodles — surely Bun Cha can source some close enough to phở? The only other gripe I have is that their starters are pretty small for the price charged(with the exception of the deep fried spring roll). A good place to visit if you’re looking for«clean tasting» phở.

FINALLY!!! The best PHO I’ve tasted in HONGKONG! 78HKD. I am estatic. The broth is sooo yum and not salty! I substituted the regular PHO flat rice noodles for the vermicelli noodles which stay al dente even if it sits in the soup. *thumbs up*. I kind of wish that they could add more veggies. But I’ll leave the five stars because it still is yummy. I have yet to go back and try the other dishes. But I can tell you with full confidence that the PHO here is LEGIT folks! =P This is a small joint so maybe you’d be comfortable with at most 6 people. They have one small outdoor table which is nice on a hot night. GOODBYEFOREVERBEP!

Hong Kong has always been lack a good Vietnamese joint, I’ve been collecting bits and pieces here and there but never all under the one roof. This place is by no exception, it’s not perfect but it does 3 basic Viet dishes really well — Phở, Banh Mi and Bun. Nice to have authentic favour near home and why would I settle for less when you grew up with Viet food in Sydney. Regrettably, I have say bye to BEP all together. By the way, I still do the occasional travel to Sham Shui Po for an avocado shake fix.
