This place was amazing. Food, wine and service were 5 stars all around. Really cool concept where the menu is inspired in some way by the the exhibition in a neighboring art gallery(whose art spills into the restaurant), while still using Scandinavian ingredients. We opted for the tasting menu with wine parings, which is a great value, given that it is basically the same price as a la carte, but allows you to try several dishes and wines. The white asparagus soup and bacalao were the highlights for me, offering a depth of flavor that I have rarely tasted from those ingredients. Even though I know little about wine, I could tell that the parings were perfectly tailored for each course. The house made bread was also excellent and contributed to the fact that we were so full that we opted to skip desert and move straight to a post-dinner whiskey tasting. I rarely even comment on service in my reviews(I just care a lot more about the food), but the service was an integral part of the experience at Restaurant Krebsegaarden. The head Chef and the Sommelier served our table personally and spent a ton of time interacting with us. They were both very friendly, funny and extremely knowledgeable about both their food and beverages. Their gracious service elevated the meal from merely delicious to a truly memorable experience. One thing to note is that this is a very small restaurant(5 – 6 tables) and we saw the staff turn away several walk ins during our meal. Reserve ahead and you will not be disappointed!

Couldn’t rave enough about this restaurant. The food, the wine, the staff, the atmosphere. I ate at over 10 of the«top» Copenhagen restaurants these 2 weeks and this was hands down the best. A must eat in CPH. You won’t regret it!

This place is incredible. The food was amazing and the service was amazing. The chefs are very engaging and friendly; they love talking to their customers and made the experience even better. It’s really awesome how they switch up the menu every month; it makes me wish the restaurant was in NY because I’d definitely be coming back to see what other awesome meals these chefs create.

Don’t let the lack of reviews fool you on this restaurant. With only 9 tables, it’s a small great with big flavor. The owner of the restaurant is one of two staff on the floor, and he really adds to the experience. I had the moussaka as an appetizer, the lamb for dinner, and crème caramel for dessert. Of course all of this with a wine pairing. Everything was perfect. Every wine was such a perfect match to the dishes, and this is probably because the owner personally goes and selects the wines once they create their new menu. Everything from start to finish made this a perfect night, and I know I’ll be back to Krebgaarden to eat and to see Mats the owner.

There is a very good reason this place is the #1 Copenhagen restaurant on TripAdvisor. To start off, the service is excellent. The two guys serving us(at least one of which I understand is also the owner) were just completely lovely, treating us like friends the second we walked through the door. They chatted away with us about our music tastes, joked about our mutual love for cheese, and just really took the time to explain anything and everything about the food and the wine. Me and my boyfriend live in the area, and had walked past this place a million times since we moved to Copenhagen. It looks incredibly intimate from the outside, like you are peeking into somebody’s living room, where they happen to be hosting an elaborate dinner party. We always talked about checking it out, but were too intimidated to just walk in and ask for a reservation. I wasn’t even completely sure it was a restaurant — it only has about 10 tables, so I thought it might be a venue for private events or reserved for visitors of the art gallery next door. With our anniversary coming up, I suggested we finally go for it and booked a table online. And I am so glad we did! Aside from the service, the food is exquisite and the wine pairings great. What I liked was that the wines were all very unique; the tastes were exotic but at the same time went incredibly well with the food we were eating. The food itself was amazing… I won’t go into detail about what we ate, as the menu changes depending on the art collection currently on display(as does the décor!) but I’ll say it was very creative while simultaneously being so satisfying. Definitely worth a visit, for a special occasion or if you just want to treat yourself to a lovely night out in Copenhagen.

We must have been lucky because we walked right in to this place without a booking. We had no idea how lucky we were… from my post eating research, this place is in the top 5(non professional reviewers in Copenhagen. #1 on Tr! pAdvi$or. It has a somewhat casual atmosphere but the food is far from causal. The chef’s(two in total) are very enthusiastic about their dishes. The explanation of my main dish was no less than 5 minutes. 5 mins is a long time when 95% of the words are ingredients and preparation. They do not rush you and the food was great. I enjoy restaurants that offer smaller menu’s and this one has a limited menu. The menu appears to vary depending on the season and mode(oh and art on the walls) of the chefs. All the dishes(our table order 3 of the 4 main offered) were very good. The enthusiasm of the chefs might not be for everyone but if you are a casual«foodie» and enjoy knowing exactly how your meal was prepared then you will love this place.
