So, this is the food truck outpost of Beaujena’s. Never been there. But this truck, man this truck. So firstly, the location apparently varies. We found it on Broadway near Garry. They post their location on their facebook page: The foodtruck does sammiches. Delicious, delicious sammiches. Their menu changes. I went with a colleague. She got the death by bacon sandwich. I got the pickerel po’ boy. So normally, po boys are really satisfying, but you can feel the starch and the carb and the grease weighing down on you before you’re even halfway through the thing. For some reason, this guy was a lot lighter and I basically plowed right through it. Maybe they got the fry right. Maybe the bread was a bit softer and lighter. It almost certainly had to do with the really sharp slaw in it that cut right through the grease. But it was gone. Gone gone gone. My compatriot… yeah. Lots of pork belly, slow cooked until it was so tender that it was separating like you wouldn’t believe, and the fat was melty and wobbly without being super fatty. Bacon was substantial, and neither soft nor crispy. Had the same slaw and aioli that the other sandwich did. The bread was starting to fall apart at the end, and it was definitely dripping out the bottom, but who cares? She gobbled it down. This tiny, quiet, 5’0″ maybe 100 pounds wet Chinese girl polished off this monster with no problem. Then she went back the next day and Did. It. Again. She mentioned something about her dad being the only person she knew able to get pork right down to that consistency. The lady, who I would guess would be Beaujena, had a lovely personality. Also, at $ 8, a major steal. …dooooo iiiiiittttttt
