I’ve been visiting this place on and off for the last 5 years or so and it finally dawned on me to do a review. This review is based solely on their pizza because I’ve never ordered anything else. Stick to what you like, right? I have searched far and wide throughout the Lower Mainland for the perfect pizza and their pies rank amongst the top 3. It’s gooey, cheesy, and just the right amount of toppings. I live in Surrey and have actually made the trip down there late one evening just because I was craving it. Thanks guys and keep up the good work!

I come here more for the ambiance and friendly service. This place is often open late, and it is one of our default Greek places when the craving hits. A decent selection of pizzas and traditional Greek dishes is available. Service is friendly, and the venue is large enough to hold large gatherings for 50+ people. When we come here for family gatherings, we will often order the Dinner for Four, their Appetizer Platter, the Lamb Chop Platter and several pizzas. Pizzas come with nice, crispy crusts, but the toppings may be a bit sparse. It might be my imagination, but the entrees and platters seem to have been slowly creeping up in price, while the serving sizes seem to be getting ever smaller. Food still tastes the same, but there are several places that offer larger servings for the same or less money.

Don’t be fooled! Extremely disappointing! I ordered the ravioli and I wondered how they got THECHEFBOYARDEE into their kitchen because it had more in common with Alphagetti than anything resembling Italian food. So if you like paying 13.95 for something you can get in a can at a supermarket, go here. Girlfriend describes her prawn souvlaki as «dry, flavourless, and overcooked.» We highly resent paying so much for so little — this is the only revenge we can get, so don’t consider me a hater, I’m just saying this is a cheap and shady business that is massively overpriced. Save yourself the heartache — let this business go down under, and I don’t mean to Australia.

I love the food and service. The prices are a bit high but most of the times worth the price! And they deliver!

Ordered out so cannot comment on the service. Ribs: Quality of the meat was very low, sauce was not tasty. Honestly, it looked and tasted like it was store bought frozen ribs. Lasagna: Watery, bland and what little taste it did have was strange. I’ve had frozen lasagnas far superior to this

From the moment we arrived the waitress or owner Tiana J. went out of her way to provide great service. We were expecting an elderly friend to arrive and needed to be in a place that wasn’t too drafty or loud. The music, by the way, comes from speakers far away in a corner which is nice because you hear the music but it doesn’t overwhelm. Nice bossa nova romantic background the night we were there. Her counterpart in the kitchen was also quick to acknowledge me when I arrived and was generous and gracious in putting my delicious lamb chops back on the grill for a few moments. I had asked for medium-rare for some reason and then realized they were too rare for my taste. My fault. We had a delicious appetizer of shrimp with sautéed vegetables. So good with the accompanying garlic toast dipped in the sauce. Most of us ordered lamb in various forms for which Trocadero is known, but the calamari, spinach pie and lasagne were also very tasty. This is a place for large groups and families and both were in evidence that night. It’s been a very long time since I was in a Vancouver restaurant selling steak with lasagne– this menu is not for the trendy crowd. I appreciated the fact that the plates are not overwhelmed with filler like rice and bread. Yes, Trocadero’s serves those starches with the food but they are not in huge quantities in order to make you feel you got more for your money.(like a certain restaurant on Davie Street) A very nice evening with people who understand quality food and customer service.

I can’t say enough good about the service and food Trocadero provided for a recent family party of 30 people. Marino helped with all of the planning details and even opened the restaurant early to accommodate us. The food was delicious and everything arrived quickly so our entire group were able to dine together. The floral arrangements and décor, combined with the skylight made for awesome pictures! Everyone had a great time. Thanks to Marino, Irene, and the rest if Trocadero staff for making our event a success.

Stopped in this evening with my Love. He ordered the pork shoulder special and I had the soup and hummus. This place had the BEST hummus! I come back just for that dip. The service this evening was fantastic. The restaurant was full and the staff were on top of their game. Excellent. We will return.

Have to say most disappointed I have ever been in a restaurant before. Service was terrible, I get it some people have bad days. We all do, I work in the service industry as well, but you don’t have to act so rude to customers. Im not asking you to be my friend, just deliver my food in a respectful manner. When we did finally get our food after a very long wait, I can say it was not worth it at all. Maybe the chef was having a bad day to who knows but the food wasn’t very cold, cheese was barely melted and I didn’t realize we were rationing toppings for the apocalypse. I have been here before and this was the first time it was like this. Before it was always sub par so needless to say, I will not be eating no-melted cheese 5 piece pepperoni pizzas again.

I’ve literally been eating here my whole life, as I’ve lived in the neighbourhood and have a soft spot for lasagna. I can’t give a 5 star rating solely because all I ever eat is the lasagna and steak. It’s fantastic for the price you pay, but I just can’t speak for the rest of the menu. Staff are polite and very friendly. I consider Trocadero a part of my childhood and will continue coming here until the day it closes.

I’m always a sucker for family-run, spacious, old-school style neighbourhood restos like this one. Probably been here for decades, which means usually solid food, known for their lamb chops, apparently it’s the favourite destination for Chicago BlackHawk’s Patrick Kane whenever they’re in town. Like how the menu’s got everthing: pasta, greek, pizza & ribs — great for takeout. And a low delivery minimum too, just $ 12. It ain’t no Vassili’s but neither are the prices, total casual. Lots of free parking in front and the sides. Big screen TVs for the games.

I’ll never come back here. The service was absolutely horrible, right from the beginning. We walked in and the place was deserted, but the female server(who did see us) let us stand at the front for a good minute before seating us. She mumbled at us before scuttling away to join a table of three other people who were busy with make-work of folding napkins, but were actually all on cell phones. I actually had to get up and go over there twice to ask for wine, etc. when my wine did come I was told that ‘the little white floaty things were pieces of cork’ and that I could pick them out with my finger. Um… Excuse me??? The empty plates sat on our table for a very long time… Because she was busy with her cell phone in a completely empty restaurant. The food was good and the cook brought it out himself. He was very nice and happy. Too bad he wasn’t always there! I think this place is family run so maybe our server was the unfortunate sister who got stuck doing a job she hates. Either way, the good food won’t make up for the overpriced terrible service.

I have been dining at Trocs for years and it is always hit or miss! Lucky for us the food was a hit this time around. That in itself was a bonus. Usually we order two appies and two entrees and always end up taking food home. This time were were smart and ordered 3 appies and one entrée and shared everything. We started out with Fried Sauteed mushrooms,(Olive Oil, Garlic and lemon juice, this was DELISH!) Kalamari and Garlic Tiger Prawns(Served with Garlic Toast) for the appies. The mushrooms were mouth watering. I could not stop eating them! The Lamb Souvlakia was juicy and tender, grilled to perfection. The food was a solid 4 stars today! We also ordered a pizza to go for some friends. Which was devoured about 5 minutes after delivery, so I assumed that it was tasty! Or they were STARVED! The décor is another 80s flashback of a Pizzeria of my youth. Trocs is cozy, laid back environment and a great to place to catch up with friends and family.

I think this place has really gone down hill. I remember maybe 5 years ago having soulvaki from here and was good– tired to relive that and it did not happen. We went on a weeknight– they were on groupon thought we would try something new. — wont be going back anytime soon Ordered a greek salad to start, super oily and not even like a good olive oil, it coated your mouth. viniger was no where to be found and cuts on veg was really rough, super big and not enough variety, a lot of cucumber not enought tomato etc. I wanted prawn and scallop soulvaki– and they didnt have any? thought okay this is a sign i shouldnt have that many carbs. lol. so I asked for garlic prawns(appy) a piece of pita and tzitziki. Husband ordered spaghetti and meatballs. That weird mouth coating oil showed up again. My prawns were actually swimming in it, no joke half of the dish was that oil. My husbands spagetti was coated in it to. I asked the server what it was and she asked the kitchen to advised it was butter. it was not butter, it was some cheap oil and it was disguisting! I used paper napkins to trry to dry the prawns and used tzitziki to change the taste. Def less then satisfying. Bill came and my tzitziki pita side was like $ 4. meh. The server was far from friendly or engaged. The restaurany was absolutly empty. There was 2 people and we were seated completley far from anyone. Someone came in sat down and then left– I guess they were lucky. Wouldnt come back here unfortunetly– even just writting about that mouth coating odd oil makes me gag a bit :(

It’s simple. Good food, big portions, friendly attentive service and a family ambience. Yummy pizza, delicious Mousaka and more than fair prices. If you are looking for a family restaurant in the area and want to avoid the soulless feeling of a chain restaurant? This is the place. Maybe I got lucky and I ordered the right things… but the service and food put it smack into four star territory. Next time I’ll try the lamb shoulder and apply a more critical edge. My kid hasn’t eaten this much(healthy) food in forever. Big thumbs up.

Interesting little find in this restaurant. The food is ordinary, service is respectable, ambiance is pretty dull. Unfortunately when it comes to customer service the owner is clueless! This evening I decided to take chance and try our luck at finding a new restaurant to add to our list of fav. We routinely use groupons and groupon now. On this particular evening Trocadero showed up under groupon now. Great deal — $ 15 for $ 30 worth of hopefully yummy Greek food! We started with an appetizer of calamari — or Kalamaria. It was nice, not superb, not terrible, nice. We decided to both order the roasted lamb with rice and potatoes Greek style. Before our main dish a Greek salad showed up at our table. I must say it was one of the worst Greek salad I ever ate in my life. At home I would have to make significant efforts to muffed up a Greek salad to that degree. The balance of veggies was so off. Too many cucumbers — not washed or skinned — not enough tomatoes, feta or dressing. Tried to find the oregano… not a chance. I must admit the lamb was plentiful and looked yummy but, again, nice, not terrible, not superb, nice. The rice was old and clumpy, the potatoes were lacking flavor and basic seasonings. The lamb was $ 16.95 each– a fair price for what we got. Nothing ecstatic nothing horrible. Our server — which turns out to be the owner — was attentive to our needs regarding water and general service. The rest is a lack of understanding basic principle of client relation and needs. I showed up ahead of my wife with a reservation for two. I was seated at a window table away from noises and clam. Perfect for a nice dinner. Within 20 minutes the server — the owner — decided to make a table top of 12 people on the spot 2 feet away from us. Not only that but he put all the little kids — all 4 of then — at the end where we are sitting. A very noisy bunch. Screaming bunch! I asked the server — the owner — if he could move us somewhere more quiet since the restaurant is at the most a third full. He nicely moves us… near another 8 top o.0 At least they were not nearly as noisy… phewww. We get our meal, have a good discussion with the wife and then the time came to pay. I informed our server — the owner — that it was our first time at Trocadero and we discovered them trough Groupon NOW. I showed him my Groupon NOW… unfortunately our server — the owner — informs me that this Groupon NOW is for TOMORROW! I went … hu? I asked if thier was anything he could do and perhaps ask the manager… that’s when we found out he was the owner. Perfect then can you perhaps help us out with this silly predicament? No sorry I got taken advantaged of before and you need to take it up with Groupon 0. o After 5 minutes of back in forth and getting no where I finally told him that was fine but he lost a couple of customers. That did not phase him at all. So I ask him for the interact machine and proceeded to pay. At tha point it was clear to my wife and me we would not comeback anytime soon. With that in mind he he came back and offered an olive branch in the formed of a … $ 5 dessert coupon 0. o Now call me crazy but what difference does it make to give us $ 15 off our meal and called it a day? You make a first time customer happy and we might even comeback and try the pizza everyone is talking about. Perhaps when our friends, family etc. asked us for a place around the neighborhood would have recommend this place. guess what mister owner, none of those will happen. I would even venture that if you need to use Groupon it would because you need to generate more traffic on slow days. Well consider that next time, mister clueless. Conclusion the customer is never right at Trocadero. Oh and beware of those Groupon NOW they are not all NOW0. o

It wasn’t a very busy restaurant but we were seated in the back section behind the divider. It felt like we were alone and hence didn’t experience the vibrancy of this restaurant as indicated by others. They should lower the partition so that you can see other people. Me and my son came for a quick spaghetti and meatball dinner. It was good with huge meatballs. The Caesar salad was nice and very garlicky. Service was friendly but not warm and family-like as others have stated. It is better than a Boston Pizza.

Maybe it was an off day. Went for lunch hour, place was empty, had a steak sandwich that was bland and chewy. Was surprised it was that mediocre since it’s been around so long. Maybe the real chef called in sick that day.

Looking for a feel good family run place? Look no further! I love Trocadero for the following: –they treat you like family –awesome caesars(extra extra spicy w/multiple beans and 2 limes) –steak and lasagna combo for 19.95 –owner is a huge hockey fan and they have a big screen on game nights Within it’s category(family restaurant) I will gladly choose Trocadero over Boston pizza(impersonal, and soggy pasta) any day!
