The food and vibes here are very authentic. The ox tail is amazing, it was one of the daily specials. The Jamaican jerk chicken is my favourite. I’m a spice lover and their spicy sauce is in my top 5. He makes his own ginger beer and it’s bomb! The workers are very friendly. There’s a barber shop beside them and I see them bringing plates of food over to them which was super cute.

I love this place; it’s family run and super authentic. The service is somewhat lacking but I don’t come to a place like this expecting great service or speedy food delivery. I come expecting Caribbean feel/atmosphere, tasty food, and good prices. If you want better service and pay twice as much, go down the street to The Reef… His oxtail is packed with flavour(Wednesdays and Saturdays only) and sells for approx $ 13 with rice and coleslaw… I prefer their chicken patties over the others. The food and drinks(incl. ginger beer) are made in-house from scratch. BTW, the music he plays is awesome.

So we have been sitting here for about 45 mins with no food on tbe table. No service either. There are two people in the back, unfortunately working very slowly. There is no AC in here either. My hulkified boyfriend is hot and hungry and now if my food ever does reach my table I wont enjoy it at all. The food: my bf got the curry goat and it was pretty well all bone, the meat was rubbery and lacked spice. I had the jerk chicken with rice and peace. The rice was pretty plain, my chicken was over cooked and majority bone. Not enough spice for jerk chicken, very disappointing. The ginger cocktail thing was just bland and tasted like ginger juice. My bf did say the beef patty was ok though. The service here is horrendous. No one greeted us, or told us that we should order then pay before sitting. They have 2 menus, literally only 2. The thing I’m most upset about is that the ratings for this place on Unilocal are high. This makes no sense unless the standard for some Unilocalers is considerably lower than others or that the locatation is under new management. Do not reccommend and not returning. Sadly $ 40 down the tubes.

Worst service that i’ve ever experienced in Vancouver! They have a seating area but yet you have to help yourself to a menu and approach the cash register to order, what restaurant does that? Food finally arrived, i ordered the curry goat which came with rice & peas and coleslaw. Curry goat was awful, undercooked and rubbery and rice tasted awful as well. Also there is no A/C so bring a towel to wipe the sweat off if u plan to visit on a hot summer day.

I really enjoyed my goat curry(only available some days of the week), but my wife didn’t like her jerk chicken a lot(not enough chicken and she doesn’t like char on her meat, but I think she just doesn’t like jerk). The chicken Jamaican patty was fantastic. Atmosphere is great and if you get a seat at the bar, the chef cooks right in front of you. $ 28 after tax.

Most authentic Caribbean restaurant know in Metro Vancouver. As soon as you step in you feel the Caribbean vibe. Wednesday & Saturday are my favourite days to visit as that day they serve oxtail. I’ve heard the snapper fish is to DT for too. Chef Bounty puts a lot of love into the food and you can taste it. Conveniently located on The Drive not far from Comm-Broad SkyTrain Station makes this an idea location for lunch or dinner.

Always exceptionally tasty in a very laid back atmosphere. The sautéed calallo(sp?) with saltfish is a personal favourite, but you can’t go wrong with a pizza bowl of jerk chicken. So good! Vegan/Veg friendly

Went with the intention of getting something spicy and i was totally amazed. The atmosphere was very nice and welcoming, you can either sit at a table, at the bar or take out. The owner has lots of regulars and there’s nothing just sitting out waiting like other places. I’ve had the patty’s and the roti and both were excellent. Price range was good for the quality of food and he makes everything upon order so I’d definitely recommend.

Amazing authentic food. Great vibes! My favorite dishes are the Ackee & Saltfish and the brown stew chicken. Favorite with my 11year old son is the Jamaican patties.

Another hidden green on The Drive. I first came here over ten years ago when house-sitting for a local. Now that I live nearby, it was time to go again. I have no idea why I waited so long. Everything I have had here had been great, and the spicy snapper was my treat for today. Highly recommended, and Bounty clearly knows what he is doing.

Went there for the first time today. I had the jerk chicken. It had a good level of spice, good flavor, and reasonable portion. It came with flavored rice with beans that were cooked well, and were moist. The coleslaw, I found better than most I’ve had. It had a strong, flavorful dressing. I don’t usually like coleslaw because it’s too much like raw cabbage with white vinegar or mayonnaise. This was the least like that I’ve ever had. The homemade ginger beer was robust and appealing. The server/cook was very relaxed, friendly, and compellingly pulchritudinous.

Thanks to previous reviewers as I would never have tried this place. Really tasty and fresh with friendly service. They have one large table to fit 6 to 8 people, and a few smaller tables for 2 or 3, and a bar facing the open kitchen where singles could sit and eat if desired. The small shop is clean and comfy. The process is: you place your order at the small counter and then take drinks you’ve ordered to your table. When your meal is ready they bring it to you with paper napkin and proper metal utensils. After you’ve finished you pay at the counter. They have regular menu with dinner entrees, snacks, pizza and specials each day of the week. They also have a range of sweet, Jamaican bottled drinks. I didn’t get past that but there is probably more to offer than what I noticed. I went on a Thursday for their chicken stew special. It was served with a generous portion of «rice and peas» — which is Jamaican flavourful rice with beans, and fresh slaw heavily dressed with a slightly sweet oil-based dressing. The stew tasted fantastic with cloves being the dominant spice and just the right amount of heat for the dish. All elements of the dinner went together really well and I really enjoyed it. My only complaint is that they use leg joints for the stew which is a lot of work to extract the sparse meet from the bones. No sign of complimentary chips and sauce. I’ll definitely return to try another daily special one day.

Yeah mon, Chef Bounty got the cuisine on lock. Great staple in the neighborhood. Louise G. below gave a list of the specials, so plan your nights with that. The goat dinner is my favorite thus far, but he’s a bit short on the Caribbean drinks, but I blame exorbitant Canadian tariffs on my favorite things like Dragon Stout. Otherwise, it’s all irie and I’ll be there soon enough for the oxtail.

Authentic. Delicious. Amazing. Started with some complimentary plantain chips and mango sour. YUM!(Pic: ) Daily specials. I tried one of the Saturday specials: Oxtail Stew:(Pic: ) It was soooo very, very, very good. Meat cooked to perfection. Deliciously seasoned. Served with rice and bean and a side of some yummy coleslaw. I devoured it. Delicious roti.(Pic: ) Done Guyanese style(roti prata or gaddamba roti). Filled with seasoned veg and choice of protein. The jerk chicken option was amazing. Everything that roti and jerk chicken should be. No short cuts. Authentic, delicious and lovely service. We will be back again and again. As good as it gets!

Its gotta be one of the jewels of Commercial Drive! For a long time, we eyed this place trying to decide whether or not we should go in because the exterior didn’t look very inviting — but don’t be fooled! When you first walk in, the music is upbeat and relaxed. You are most likely to be greeted by Bounty(the chef) who is super friendly and can make excellent recommendations. The décor is simple but nice. The place is clean and tidy. The restaurant isn’t very big, but is definitely cozy with plenty of seating for 2 — 4. The Kapone is amazing with flavourful spices. If you are not as adventurous and is not big on spicy foods — the Hawaiian Veggie is sooooooo yummy. My favourite is the Jerk Chicken. I always feel bad when I pay — for such a wonderful meal, it doesn’t cost much at all(therefore, a good tip is in order!!). My research tells me that they cater. My favourite part is that they’ll come to your house and cook a romantic meal for two — if you’re «in» to impress!!! If interested, they offer cooking classes as well! This is definitely my favourite Jamaican joint! website:

Yum! I agree with other reviewers that the location and outside appearance is a bit uninviting but it’s well worth looking beyond. Granted I was hungry when I arrived and could have ordered everything on the menu but I opted for jerk chicken. The chicken was so flavorful. I could have eaten the rice and beans alone as a meal. A wonderfully friendly place and smells heavenly. Preparing for my next visit!

Despite an uninviting exterior, the Jamaican Pizza Jerk is run by super friendly people and the food makes you wanna shout, «Ja mon!» Today I sat down for the ‘Kapone’ Irie Bowl, which is to say delicious jerk chicken, red onion and sundried tomatoe sauteed and baked with feta in a bowl shaped dough form. Ooooooh it was heaven with my coconut water drink! All told, the damage was $ 14 with tip. There are mostly veggie options available here and the music is always bumpin’. Ah highly recommen’ dis joint.

Kind of Scary on the outside, in an odd block on Commercial, but quite cute on the inside, and we were nicely surprised! I can tell that this is a real hub for the Jamaican community. There were some music lovers jammin’ in a car out front to a CD someone has just cut. They were playin’ it loud, and they looked serious about it. A couple of guys were putting up posters for the release party. A friendly customer service person greeted me, I explained I just need something small, and I can’t eat Pizza. They have soup!!! I was so glad. That soup was seriously delicious, and home made, with a mix of veggies. Now I’m looking at the website, and I see that they have plenty of things besides Pizza. They have the Roti! They have a variety of traditional dishes and I am going back ASAP. Maybe even tomorrow –no kidding! Check this out:
