Was craving for noodle soup and decided to try this place as it had good ratings on Unilocal.Had the laksa with shanghai noodles which tasted pretty good except that I found the noodles to be too thick and hard. I would recommend this place to those who would like to try out standard Chinese cuisine but not to have high expectations.

Ordered here through LazyMeal two times prior. On both occasions it was early, which was great. Food was good too. Ordered tonight through LazyMeal at 9pm. Delivery window was 40 – 60 minutes. At 60 minutes in, we called to inquire about our order… They told us to call the driver. We did a few times in a 10 minute window and no response. Called back the restaurant and they said keep calling the driver. We did. No answer. We called the restaurant back(now it’s 10:20pm) and the person doesn’t speak English well and hangs up mid conversation. Call driver again. No answer, full voicemail mailbox. At this point we assume we don’t have food coming our way. Driver arrives at 10:30(over 30 mins late) while we are walking our dogs. We told him to forget about it and leave. The number he called from was the same number we dialed 8+times 1) it’s not our responsibility to stalk your driver 2) your driver should call back 3) be able to offer solutions to customers vs telling us to do things If they had offered a discount for the hassle I would have been more inclined to accept the delivery, but since the delivery guy and restaurant dropped the ball we won’t accept the food and instead order someplace better. Shame. It was really alright food.

Was craving Chinese food, so decided to go here for lunch. The guy who waited on me was friendly and polite, though seemed a bit rushed even though the place was mostly empty. The place was clean and orderly, with a view into the kitchen. I ordered chicken gyoza(pan fried), a hot chocolate, and simply fried rice. All three came quickly enough, though the gyoza took the longest. The fried rice was fine, nothing extraordinary. It was interesting in that they used ground beef instead of sliced and added some cabbage. I prefer slices of beef(this type began to taste funky after about 10 minutes, though maybe it was due to the quality of the beef). Anyways, it didn’t have much flavor and I had to add a lot of soy sauce to it. The positive for this dish was the portion size — it was huge(I was only able to finish half). The gyoza were pretty standard, though larger than most places I’ve eaten at. Nothing special about them either, though. And the hot chocolate was just from a packet you’d buy at the store — not worth $ 2.25. The total turned out to be $ 20 before tip, which is fine if you’re sharing with a friend, but a little much if you value quality over quantity. If you want water you have to ask for it, I think. All they gave me was the tea and I didn’t see anyone else with water. Will try a different place next time I am in the area and wanting Chinese food.

This place needs to train their servers better. The waitress messed up my order and I didn’t get food for almost half an hour. She did not check on me or followed up the entire time. I saw others who got in much later than me getting the exact food that I was waiting for. I grabbed servers to ask. Then my server showed up to say they just started making my food. Are you kidding me? Not a single apology, no nothing. I left. Did you expect me to wait another 10 mins? Clearly She forgot my order or someone else took my food. It’s their mistake. Not doing their job correctly. Then explain it and apologize. That’s how you should deal with your paying customers. Poor, Dumb service, not worth another visit.

Another good lunch at Next Noodle. Had the Shanghai udon lunch combo. Came with corn soup, veggie appy and some custard(?) dessert. Service was quick and efficient.

My friends recommended me to check this place out since I am obsessed with noodles — especially noodles in soup. My friends and I ordered their deep fried chicken wings in garlic, spring roll, this wrap that is similar to pekin duck and their sea food laksa! The chicken wings were delicious! It was hot and crunchy and flavorful. It was pretty addicting that I could probably finished the whole dish myself! The spring rolls are also hot and crunchy — I’ve been to many places where the spring rolls are kinda soggy. The wrap has a twist to the traditional pekin duck, which was pretty good! It was already wrapped up so it was ALL in one and you can get a full bite rather than the tiny bites like how they are normally served.. . and it saves the wrapping time! Their seafood Laksa is one of the highly recommend and it was delicious! I am not a «spice» person, I can’t eat food that is too spicy but the server reassured me that is isn’t too spicy and he was right! I love my noodles in soup super hot — like burning tongue hot and it came out super hot and the noodles were chewy. . which I love! The portion was perfect and there were a lot of ingredients in it! The service was awesome, the servers are all friendly and one lady would always come around to take away the emptied dishes. Would definitely come back!

It looks like this place has changed owners — I’ve driven by it a million times in my life but never went in… until now. And without having read any of the mixed reviews prior, I have to say I actually enjoyed it. I had the spicy wontons which was good. GARLIC, CILANTRO and SPICY. Winning combo. I could have eaten 2 bowls(but I’m working on my portion control and saving money LOL). I also had the Laksa which came with some special noodle that I have not seen before, despite all the noodles I’ve encountered. But I LOVED it. I don’t really like traditional thin vermicelli — especially in soup — to begin with anyway, so it was perfect. The noodles were almost like udon but thinner and chewy. I love chewy. Malaysian fried rice was flavourful and pretty spicy. It was what I would expect to get. The food was good, service was the norm. So lucky me, I had a great experience. Or maybe I just have good taste in dishes: P

Came in here for a pre-game meal and it sure hit the spot. I couldn’t believe the extensive menu they had and was more impressed they had a lot of vegetarian options for my hubby to decide from. I had a small wonton which came out piping hot and had lots of flavour. Hubby ordered the vegetarian soft chow mein and salty garlic tofu. Portions were huge and we managed to finish it all. We would definitely go back and try out their other dishes. I mustn’t forget, service was very good too. Servers made sure our tables were cleared of empty plates, tea cups full and checking up on us. I think the owner even came up to us to see how everything was and suggested other dishes next time. Added bonus: washroom was very clean!!!

I liked this place a whole lot. 4 out of 5 times, their food was great with generous portions. The service was fast and polite. Plenty of choices for all kinds of customers. BUT The place has new owners now and it’s going to shit. Their lunch specials used to be varied with different selections every day: main + 3sides + soup. Now it’s the same 5 combos every time. The sides are 2 with pickled carrots and a mango dessert shot. And the soups are still lame. On top of the food quality sucking, the staff has changed too. My favourite servers are gone. And most importantly, THE cutest Hailey is nowhere to be seen. I came here once a week for lunch but now it will be once a month… Maybe. Sad.

Came here again after they changed owners. The food went from terrific to horrible! What happened Next Noodle Bar?! The soup was tasteless and the ingredients were tasteless. Very disappointed!

Pleasantly surprised by this place. Very large menu selection. I wish the vegetable dishes were half the size(and price). It’s a lot of vegetables. Wontons were good, wish the soup was a bit more flavorful though. The duck wrap dish was my favorite. We had great service. Will come again.

Fairly good. I ordered for delivery on a Saturday evening and I’m glad i gave this restaurant another chance. I ordered their Crispy Ginger Beef($ 12.95), Japanese Eggplant and the Deep Fried Wontons(6pcs). Avoid the deep fried wonton at all cost! It wasn’t good, and really disappointing. The wrappers were good but the filling, just sad. All it had was a tiniest cocktail shrimp. Not even, maybe ¾ of an inch, no pork, no chives, no nothing aside from the shrimp. It was tiny and bland. So if I were you, I’d pass on that. The ginger beef was good but i noticed some of the beef were probably old and rubbery. The flavor was good but could use a little more kick to enhance the flavor a bit. The japanese eggplant was okay, just right. This is a good place to order for delivery on a lazy weekend, they deliver for free and minimum is just $ 20! The employee who received my orders was friendly and answered my queries politely. Fast and efficient delivery. I’ll give it a go again, but i would dine in next time.

This review will only really stand for about seven weeks because Next Noodle Bar is closing down on Oct 16, 2015. It’s a shame that local business are forced to vacate due to rent increases. We need more of these downtown. Decent food, friendly owners, and not chains. I don’t want to imagine what’s going to appear in this space, or what’s going to happen with the rest of this block. Downtown is seriously lacking in good Chinese food, and Next always hit the spot with an extensive menu and great service. I wish the owners well.

Omg! I can’t believe that I have never written this review. I have been coming here weekly for the past 4 years after a coworker recommended it for my *very serious* noodle cravings. Sometimes I come more than twice a week. Sometimes I order non-noodle items. I am never disappointed. I always leave satisfied and in better spirits even on otherwise gloomy days. Since I switched offices(still in the hood) I have introduced many colleagues and friends who have also become regulars. This is just that type of place. It’s easy to see why. Next is solid in everything one could ask for in a favorite lunch spot — great food, stellar service, reasonable prices and positive atmosphere. For decent Chinese comfort food, there is simply no other place in the hood. Period. That’s why my friends and I were so devastated to learn that they will be shutting down in October. Arghhh OMG nooooo! I’m so sad even just writing that. Apparently rent increases have left owners with no choice — it has basically TRIPLED! Why Vancouver? WHY??? Why would you drive out such awesome local businesses? To the staff and owners of Next Noodles, THANKYOU so much for everything! I sincerely hope you’ll find a new location(not too far) soon. In the meantime, until October, bring on the noodles!(and sometimes rice, hehehe)

By far the best Chinese in downtown vancouver that I’ve come across. High standards of both cleanliness and quality with delivery around the city till 10. Fast and friendly service both in the restaurant and with delivery. Highly recommend crispy ginger beef and spicy chicken chow mein. Classics.

This is our go-to restaurant when craving Chinese food downtown. We’ve taken our Chinese parents from Richmond here, and they approve. This review is based on their dinner service since I’ve never been here for lunch. Its conveniently located, the restaurant is clean & spacious enough for a stroller(also has 2 highchairs available), the service is quick and friendly, and the food is above average. The first time we came, we tried a crispy noodle dish since we figured that’s their specialty with«noodle bar» being part of their name. The portion was large, but was just OK and could use a bigger meat/sauce to noodle ratio. We also tried a fried rice dish, and again, just OK. We did discover several dishes that we keep going back for though: Garlic Chicken Wings(garlic and crispy chicken), Mu Shu Wraps with duck(their take on peking duck with shredded duck meat and veggies instead of crispy duck skin, still very good for $ 12), and Beef Brisket Clay Pot(yummy flavors, but wished it came with rice and we didn’t have to order it separately). Also, they’ve got Pea Tips not on the menu but you can ask the server if its available– its pretty good. Like any Chinese restaurant, it is best to share so you can try all the different dishes. If I had to eat a whole fried rice or noodle dish by myself, I would get pretty bored of the flavours really quick– but that’s just me(I have a few friends who are fried rice fanatics who would disagree). They also give you fortune cookies with your bill, and I just happen to love fortune cookies. :)

First time here. From outside I noticed the place look pretty small but once you entered, they have nice and clean kind contemporary atmosphere. We sat across the kitchen counter where I can see alive show kind of a few chefs cooking(YES A FEW). I watched them make it FRESH every single dishes. So, we decided to order Szechuan style noodles, calamari, eggplants and crispy ginger beef. The Szechuan noodle style taste very good indeed. Spicy and perfectly done. The crispy calamari had such a light and fresh batter on it, non greasy typical deep fried perfect for guilty pleasure kind of cheatmeal and it came on covered enough amount of spicy savory green/red chillies. The eggplants was perfect, not over cooked at all. And the winner of our food is crispy ginger beef. I’d highly recommended the ginger beef and eggplants. The chef REALLYKNOWSHOWTOUSEGAS. Lol. The best Chinese food in downtown Vancouver. The price is fair and the portion is pretty generous. Honestly; you really can’t beat the prices for the taste and the amount of food you get. Perfect for dine in/take out. Oh, when I dined in, they reassured our food was good and freshen up our drinks(we had tea) too. Absolutely this service deserves a good tip:). Oh, their washroom are clean as well. Truly, this place is a must visit. Will definitely be going back here again.
