Love this place for take out! Our order is always ready in under 20 minutes and they do free delivery if you don’t want to leave your house.
The sushi is delicious and affordable. Staff are friendly. Restaurant is clean.

In a neighbourhood with an overabundance of sushi joints, Hoshi doesn’t stand out. Neither the price, nor the quality were great. Not sure why it currently has 4-​stars. Plenty of better options nearby.

Good value for dollar and good sushi. Our server was very nice and attentive. We had the vegetarian box d and e with a side order of tempura. Everything tasted fresh and was good. The restaurant isn’t huge and wasn’t super busy for a Thursday at lunch. I noticed allot of takeout. I would recommend this restaurant.

Great little neighborhood spot. Incredible value! Ate like a king (i.e. I ate for two people because the person I was with decided they didn’t want to eat what I ordered for them) for $ 35. Wound up here by complete accident meaning to go to Hoshi below sandbar but glad we wound up here instead. Wonder if they’re related. Anyway, the place is very simple and less commercial than many others. The quality of the food was excellent which is what’s most important. I asked the waitress what was fresh and was referred to the tuna, toro and salmon and that’s what we got. Along with chicken teriyaki, vegetable spring rolls, edamame, strangely not on menu, and complimentary miso soup, what’s better better than free? Great soup that’s free. We brought enjoyed the fish and each dish was amazing quality and well flavored. Certainly off the beaten path a bit but easy enough to get to from downtown, this begin neighborhood spot gets top marks. A solid four out of five stars.

I haven’t enjoyed sushi at Hoshi nearly as much recently. I’ve found the rice to be too wet and sticky. I ordered a crunchy spicy tuna roll recently and it was absolutely drowning in a sauce that completely overpowered the rest of the roll. I also ordered a smoked salmon roll and didn’t find it to be as fresh or tasty as I expected it to be. For a similar price there is better sushi near here.

They get my 5th star because of the PRICE! Now, I know Vancouver has some über affordable sushi, but this place is fast, easy, tasty, and cheeeeep. Where I come from, you’d be looking at $ 30-​$ 40 easily for what I ate, and I paid just $ 18 TOTAL. Major shock, but boy, I’m excited. I’ll be eating here as a much as possible before I head home.
As a matter of fact. I think I’ll go there today. :)

«Free delivery» here really means «we’ll get to you eventually». We waited TWO HOURS for our order. We were told 45mins-​1 hour. No problem. After an hour and a half we called again. They said «it’s almost ready». So they hadn’t even made it after 90 minutes! It showed up another 30 mins later without even an apology. Sushi was fine, the chicken udon was not good. Will never order from here again, terrible customer service experience.

I have been walking past this restaurant for months now without thinking about going in, until this last week when I found myself starving at lunchtime. I decided to give it a try. So glad I did. The sushi was fresh, the service was quick and pleasant, and they even have gluten-​free soy sauce. My lunch consisted of an avocado roll and a tuna roll and lots of tea. The whole thing came to $ 5.99. I was in and out in about 20 minutes.
A perfect stop for a quick lunch.

Tastes like UBC sub :’(yuck! Me and my boyfriend don’t like!!!
We ordered yakisoba, but it was more like yucky so bad! The spicy salmon was not spicy enough, the scallop roll was not really a scallop roll. Wasabi was dark green; we had no idea why. I did like the waitress thought because she gave us a refill on water.

Came here yesterday because the reviews were good. Had the spicy salmon roll which wasn’t very good and a few pieces of nigiri.
The quality wasn’t that great and neither was the service. I thought the prices were on the high side.

The food here is pretty good. I had the dynamite roll which had two crispy tempura prawns just as it should. The chicken yakiudon was tasty and was a respectable size. The service was notably bad here. There were only 3 tables sitting down and the server didn’t come to take our order. We had to call her over and she apologized saying that she was too busy. When a restaurant is unusually busy and the service is slow, I understand so I don’t take it into consideration in my review. However, 3 tables should not be too much for any food establishment to handle so I have to give this poor lady a 2 for service. Nothing impressive enough to make me want to come back and there are so many options for sushi around town so I probably won’t be recommending this place. If you are just wondering if the food is good, go ahead, don’t worry it’s more than edible.

As soon as my partner and I went in the waitress was very rude (and continued to be so throughout our stay there). The food was okay. It was good, but not good enough to make up for the horrible service. Also, I don’t know why this has such a low «$» rating because it is more expensive than many sushi restaurants I’ve been to in Vancouver (that serve larger portions).
I went here because it’s relatively close to my new place and because the reviews seemed good, but it was a terrible experience and I will not be going back. I do not recommend this place for anyone.

Was in the neighborhood and saw the great reviews so off I went to get my sushi fix.
This place isn’t one of those «very» cheap sushi joints. Yes their miso soup is the same instant mix most restaurants in Vancouver use, but their salmon dishes use sockeye! Their dynamite rolls have not 1 but 2 pieces of shrimp and it WAS crispy! I must say, for a Chinese run sushi restaurant this was impressive. Come to think of it, this may be the best Chinese run Japanese restaurant I’ve ever tried in Vancouver. Even though I ordered take out, presentation was done well. The fish and rice of the sushi was well crafted– did not fall apart when picked up, rice conformed to the shape of the fish, the dynamite roll was even and straight front end to end, with the fillings well aligned, rolled tight and firm (I used to live in Japan, so these are standards that one would look for when eating sushi, because to the Japanese, food is not only to be enjoyed by the palate but also the eyes– so to speak.). To recap this isn’t a very pricey venue either. A trustworthy place to satisfy your Sushi cravings, disappoint you will not.
