Great location. Friendly staff and chill atmosphere. If your looking for a good price for a filling meal than you don’t have to go far for a nice eating experience.

So I went here for lunch on a week day where I had time to sit in and eat, and it was pretty good. I had my favourite, avocado roll, on black rice, which tasted pretty damn good. I also ordered salmon sashimi, which was fresh and had a beautiful deep color to it.(Good quality). The service was a tiny bit slow considering it wasn’t too packed. We basically had to call her over for a few things… like the bill… even though she had cleared our table and we told her we were done. We had to get back to work. It is a small whole in the wall, but the food was great, and the service was polite and friendly. I would come back here if I was in the area. As well, the prices are reasonable. One last note… I love places that offer black or brown rice! Way to keep up with the times! Not traditional but healthy and tasty! Give it a try!

The stars are only for the good service, but my roll wasn’t even rolled completely. The nori and the rice were hanging out on the side for all six rolls. I didn’t even pick up the rolls. They served me rolls that were half rolled. I should have said something but I was too hungry. Also the staff was talking about their customers in Korean amongst themselves. The baby was quite loud and the parents were not doing anything about it but I just found that unprofessional.

sushi sushi is my favourite delivery place for sushi. they are quite vegan friendly. for example if you order the tnt roll you can ask for inari instead of prawn and tuna. it is delicious and way tastier actually! there sushi is always very clean tasting. the staff are very friendly and the service is always consistent

Does anyone else ever get so hungry and cranky that only certain foods can appease you? I know it may seem counterintuitive as you might imagine someone who is hungry shouldn’t be too picky but this is a different type of hunger. Perhaps it’s why comfort food is not really the same for everyone. In any case my point is that this is one of those days for me so in a sincere effort to be fair, I figured I should make that disclaimer. Now for my review of Sushi Sushi. I must say I am extremely disappointed with this place. The two stars are just for the service and because I am feeling guilty for wasting food. I hate wasting edible food but what I was offered here was so far off the mark that I experienced a stomach upset quite different from but equally discomforting as the original definition of the condition. I wanted udon. I don’t normally do so but for some reason I felt compelled to ask whether they use the packaged or frozen udon. As those who know udon know, the packaged udon gets mushy while the frozen one is chewy(el dente). The waitress looked at me strangely and obviously had no idea what I was talking about. Bad sign. How does someone who serves udon in a city of Japanese restaurants not know the range of quality in their staple ingredients? I should have turned tail and ran right then and there. But silly as I was I stayed and was not surprised when the bowl of steaming noodles that arrived were of the mushy variety. I was surprised however to also find that the broth was full of msg and that the vegetables and meat were far from fresh. My inner foodie/diva was so offended that I literally starting shaking at the thought of having to eat, let alone, finish the sad concoction. But I tried… I really did. Nonetheless, despite my hunger/shame, I had to put my chopsticks and spoon down after only two bites. To her credit, the waitress did apologize upon seeing that I didn’t enjoy my food. But I was too ashamed about the waste to look her in the eye, so I merely paid my bill and left. NOTE: I visited this restaurant and started this review quite a while back(early 2014) so I am not sure if things have changed or if the place is still even open.

I used to live right around the corner and I miss it so much. You won’t get your fat greasy rolls here, they are light and clean tasting, just how sushi is suppose to be made. I love the service, everyone yells thank you 2 to 3 times as you leave and they all remember little things about me, as close to a Japanese restaurant as you can get.

In the genre of hole-in-the-wall sushi places that deliver, it’s hard to top Sushi Sushi for a balance of value, convenience and deliciousness. From the crispy-rice crust of the sushi pizza, to the quality of their sashimi, to the variety of rolls and other dishes on their menu, they’re our go-to choice for catering a Friday night with the kids. And dining in is lovely. The room may not be sumptuous, but the welcome is warm, the service quick and attentive, and the affection they show to our kids is genuine and much appreciated.

Bland salmon, old tasting rice and very stingy on the soy sauce(one sachet for two people!). Only order from the cause they deliver, my favourite place doesn’t — yet. I would give this one a miss unless you have no choice.

most boring sushi ever. Rolls are super small, fish is less than fresh but not rancid. Service wasn’t at all friendly and I don’t plan on going back, ever. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

If it wasn’t for the great location and abundance of sushi places within 2 blocks… Ordered the dynamite & california rolls, not only was it just ok in terms of bland taste, just no ‘oomph’ factor. what i didn’t like was it seemed they were falling apart. Service was good, and seemed to do lots of take out. simple décor, but u know, probably will give them a 2nd chance simply b/c of the area, just nice to walk along West Broadway to check out the shops.

The ladies at my office like this place as it’s quiet. Nice if you like to have relaxing lunch, but it’s quiet in here for a reason. Today the gyoza was undercooked, in a overly doughy wrapper, with pork filling that reminded me unpleasantly of catfood. The roll was very thin and dry. The sonomono salad was pretty, but bland and not vinagrey enough for me. Wont exactly be my go-to place.

Our favourite neighbourhood sushi option — so beloved that we have a standing order.(If you like salmon and tuna, and need to feed 4 people, call and just ask them for Alex’s standing order.) We got addicted to Sushi Sushi for their black rice sushi — a much tastier option than brown rice, though pretty expensive so these days we usually order all white rice. We also love their sushi pizza(basically a flat circle of rice that has been fried so it’s crispy and sweet, but not oily, and topped with raw fish — yum!), their agadashi tofu(again, light and not oily) and their special rolls(especially the mango crunch and the spicy tuna). A small room but with very friendly service and speedy delivery(though it doesn’t start until 6).

This is a decent, if nothing special, sushi restaurant. The prices are fairly reasonable and the service is friendly and quick. I went today and had a california roll, tuna roll, and yam roll for 8.50. The fish seems to be their strong point as it tastes quite fresh. I’m really picky about my sushi so I wouldn’t go back there anytime soon, but at the same time it’s certainly an ok spot.

I wandered in to Sushi Sushi after feeling a rumbly in my tumbly. They had a vegetarian rainbow roll on special which sounded delightful. It was $ 6.75, and when I asked the server if it was a big roll, she responded«there are 8 pieces». Sweet… when I got home, I opened the styrofoam to-go box only to be shocked. It was the smallest most pathetic roll I’ve EVER seen. Taste wasn’t horrible and the wild salmon sashimi I ordered was decent(6⁄10). I’m still hungry and I’m angry I paid over $ 12 bucks for such a disappointing meal! I wouldn’t waste my time at this place. I felt it was overpriced and not tasty.

I’ve been to a few Sushi joints around Van while I’ve been here, and I think this one of the better ones for sure. I had the lunch box(I think that’s what it’s called), but anyway, it had a little vegetable tempura, a shrimp sunomono, BC roll, chicken teriaki and miso. All for $ 6ish. The pros of this place: Nice and clean inside, friendly waitresses, cheap good quality sushi, they do black rice too. Reasonable sized rolls(not too big), but with great presentation! I would go back again especially for that lunch box. It was a great size. This place is worth checking out if you’re in the area.

We used to go here all the time. Now I’m disappointed. They just don’t seem to be on top of customer service anymore. We were all hungry on Sunday afternoon, and wanted to grab a quick bite somewhere familiar. The place was pretty quiet. Service was SUPERSLOW. They forgot to serve us one of our rolls. They were pretty sure that they served it to us, but I had to stand my ground, and let them know that we didn’t get it. They eventually made the roll. It was okay. Oh, and twice we had to ask for more water and tea. There was only one other patron in the restaurant, and they weren’t busy. Why they could not handle this simply task, I do not know.

One cold day I was walking by Sushi Sushi and was lured in by their ramen special. One California roll and a bowl of ramen for $ 7.50! I was seriously jonesing for some soup so it seemed like a great idea. But it was bad. The California roll was standard for a cheap sushi joint, maybe a 4⁄10 — OK, but boring, because it’s a California roll. As for the ramen, I’m pretty sure came right from a Sapporo Ichiban packet(chicken flavour, if I’m identifying my Ichiban properly) — same overly salted taste and little grainy bits of unmixed flavour packet bits sticking to the side of the bowl. The noodles were overcooked and the broth was super strong, like they used the 2 packets of soup stock for only one portion of soup. I wasn’t able to eat more than a few bites. For cheap Japanese food along Broadway I’d stick to Kits Sushi.

This is a no-frills sushi joint. The service is quick and friendly, the price is right, and the sushi rolls are pretty good(for the price). We stopped by Sushi Sushi for a quick«snack», but ended up ordering an entire meal. We split the Nigiri combo, the unagi roll, spicy scallop roll, and the spicy tuna roll. I was not impressed with the nigiri — some of the pieces of fish had a very off-putting texture. The rolls, however, were pretty good, even though they all suffered from the«over-riced» syndrome. Each bite was too big and barely fit into our mouths. The unagi was the best of the bunch; we had them add avocado to the roll, which I think made a difference. Overall, this is a good place to come for a quick sushi fix.

8. Sushi Sushi It’s hard to identify one sushi place from the next when you walk along West Broadway. All have similar signs pushing lunch box specials and they all decorate their walls with laminated photos of maki rolls and sashimi. After five years of trial and error, Sushi Sushi became my staple sushi joint. It’s the only place in town that offers a shrimp sunomono salad, garden fresh salad, miso soup, chicken or beef teriyaki AND a roll of your choice for $ 6.95(I prefer the shitake mushroom roll). They deliver to locals for a $ 20 minimum and offer black rice as an alternative to the regular sushi rice. My only complaint is the teriyaki dishes are often under sauced. They’re fast, efficient and offer a quiet environment to eat in or take out. If you’re looking for something a little more lively with variations on the regular sushi staples, try the Eatery on Broadway and Collingwood. Location: 3105 West Broadway Price: $
