Nice exclusive club that makes you feel special for having weird so called«creative friends». To me everything was good, it may have been great, but I kept on compering it to the SoHo House. Thus, I rather spent my kid’s tuition money on a SoHo House membership.

Spoke it up ladies and gents. This private members club is the perfect place for exclusive events and small get togethers. A home away from home it’s complete with an art gallery, movie theater, dinning rooms, bars and roof top patio. If you’ve got the coin to pay the annual membership fee you won’t be disappointed.

Great décor and atmosphere for a party but with all the music and chatter, there’s not a balcony to escape the noise.

3.5÷5 Don’t understand all the hype of this place other than it’s exclusiveness. Been there few times but nothing great nor exciting about this place. Well I guess I can see myself coming back here if I’m happen to be around the neighbourhood and hungry/thirsty but don’t want to deal with all the line up & loud music at other restaurants around.

My alma mater held an alum event at the Spoke Club the other night, which is how I was able to enter this ‘super exclusive’ club. The event was on the second floor so I didn’t get a chance to check the first floor(just a note). Location is great; the streetcar stops practically right in front of the Spoke Club. There’s also a lot of bars and restaurants around so you can relocate to other venues should you need to continue on with your party. The party appetizers were your standard fare; there wasn’t anything that was unique, but they were fine. I really like the décor of this place; wooden floors with an industrial look and a nice view of King Street. Anyway, I’m not a member nor do I know a member so I don’t think that I’ll be returning. However, if you’re invited to go to the Spoke Club, check it out. Good for: events

The Spoke Club is a private members club located in the heart of King West. I’m not a member but I have been here many times to attend parties, private functions and also be invited as a guest of the few members that I know. I have only had food here once and it was good — it was forgettable to the point of I can’t recall what I ate but I do recall it was good. The dining room service was very good and the restaurant is very intimate — if you need to have a business dinner or even a romantic meal with that somebody special, this is a good place. The facilities are very nice and clean and well decorated. But where The Spoke Club really excels though, is the rooftop patio. It’s very nice. I can’t think of a better way to spend a summer evening in the city other than being on the rooftop patio. I’ve always debated being a member here. Unfortunately I don’t think I go downtown enough to justify the expense.

One of my friends is a member at Spoke Club so we decided to have our annual Christmas dinner in the private wine cellar room. The setup is great with a beautiful long wooden table that sat 22 of us comfortably. The food was slightly disappointing though. The seared albacore tuna salad is quite good but I had the halibut as my main and I found it very dry. I also has a taste of the risotto which I did not like at all! All in all it was a great night with great wine and great friends, I just think they need to step it up a little with their menu!

I only had drinks here my first time at the club. They were mediocre for the price, but good enough that I’d likely return. Ambiance is awesome.

This is a very very cool venue. The staff are great, as is the service. the menu although small is extremely well put together with some very interesting flavours. I have been a member for four years and I will not give it up for anything. Quite simply put, I love the place and by the way, the patio is THE place to go in the summer

I’ve gone through the reviews and my experience was a bit different, but that is most likely due to the fact that it was for a business lunch(client is obviously a member). I had no idea this place even existed and was so impressed with the patio view and how nice it is — easily one of the best in TO. In terms of the food, it tasted great and the service was very good as well. I never even knew this was a members place till writing this… funny though, I ran into an old colleague who was VP of marketing and then said to me, «I didn’t know you were into the media and entertainment scene»… guess I should have clued in then… overall would return.

Surely one of the best patios in the city. As a member it’s a gem. Always full of unexpected and great well organized events, it’s a place where I always run into someone and feel very comfortable. The staff is amazing, the wine list is superb, and the cocktails are very delish. The food is great too and recently had an egg dish that looked so simple but was to die for. Great for meetings, partying, networking, dates, you name it.

Ugh I don’t get this place. This is a club for media type people. But the type of people who become members here don’t have anything interesting to talk about. Guys only seem interested in picking up girls, thinking being members at this club is an enough of a bragging right to impress the girls. It makes me wonder if these people are even serious about arts and media. Frankly I had more engaging conversations with staff here. This club holds fun arts events and parties, which I think are worth the price of membership. I’ve come here for exhibitions for a number of times, which were really fun. There is screenings of rare old movies too here. Patio is fabulous and foods are pretty good, and staff is polite. There are lots of couches everywhere to sit down and hang around for conversations.

Did the tour, was offered a trial membership and declined. I never saw a place so full of wannabes and nobodies pretending to be somebody. Do I sound negative? I wouldn’t spend the money on a membership for something that on a world class level just doesn’t rank. I don’t like the words world class, my feeling is if you have to say it, then you are not.

Oh this place is nice! My experience started with an elevator up to 4th floor. We were greeted by front desk man who took our coats. I appreciate how he calls the membership holder ‘Mr. ___’. Everyone here makes an attempt to use your name when speaking with you, nice touch. Inside there are 3 levels of seating areas, in varying arrangements. Downstairs there is a large party room, screening room and dining/wine cellar area. Take a peek at their amazing cellar its so huge(and kept locked hehe). I came here for a movie screening. The chairs in the screening room were super comfy :). Afterwards we headed back upstairs to grab a drink. There are modern style couches and seating everywhere. The ‘library’ is a little quieter set on the back of the main floor. I LOVE the washrooms(handtowels not paper-towels provided). there is also a large dining area, I heard the food is good but I stuck to drinks on this visit. This is a classy members only club. I appreciate the attention to service. As for the crowd, it was mixed ages, on the trendy side. Everyone was dressed well(didn’t see any Tshirts and jeans). It was average noise level, very comfortable for conversing :)

3.5 Stars VIBE It’s interesting to review this place after the opening of Soho House(which sad to say I think has The Spoke Club beat in the exclusive members club arena). That said, now that all of the«cool kids» have hopped over to the Soho House, the Spoke has a more subdued vibe to it in a good way. I’m lucky to have friends who have memberships to get me in. I’ve been here a few times for events and I love the patio. Bartender service has been pretty top notch but the staff here are university students so I think that’s gone down a little bit. I did overhear a conversation with the bartending staff about«exams.» Hmm. On a Friday after work during the holiday season, it’s difficult to find a seat and chat. We didn’t want to sit in the dining room but managed to get a seat at the bar. WEATE/DRANK The food here is great! This really is a great place to take a client or have a business lunch. We split between the chips, the fried chicken and the salmon sushi. The chicken had a little bit of a spiced kick to it and was finished very quickly. The sushi had a bit of tempura on the sides and it was fantastic! These guys also do negronis very well. OBLIGATORYCATCHYREMARK I’d hate to say that The Spoke has lost its luster as an «it» spot(except maybe during TIFF) but it’s still a nice place to hang out.

I was given a free trial membership to the Spoke Club last year, but sadly, never had the opportunity to use it. According to the description provided to me, it’s for those in the arts and entertainment scene. I am not the one to fawn over stars nor do I work in the industry(AND I live uptown), so I didn’t get to try it. So, I was excited to go over and have drinks at the invite of a friend who lives within steps of the Spoke. Add to the fact that it’s members only, I really wanted to pretend I was part of the exclusivity club. I was expecting handsome men handing out towelettes spritzed with mint as I entered the entrance. I was expecting James Bond elegance mixed with high end worldliness. I got neither. You enter the Spoke Club through the elevator, 4th floor. There was a couple in front who looked like they just came from Much Music in «cool» flip flops and casual t-shirt. I guess no real dress code here. My friend was already on the patio, and I have to admit, it is nice. Everyone seemed busy preparing for some event and I kind of felt bad for those who just wanted to chill and hang. Lot of hustling and bustling. When we were up on the patio, we got kicked out of a space that was going to be used for a private event. Then another area was sort of blocked off to prep for another event. We stood near the bar for a couple of minutes, drinking wine out of our plastic cups, before heading down to find a place to sit. My friend suggested we try the library(?), but that was closed as well. I thought well geez, for nearly a grand, you would expect better service and/or communication for members of what was open or not. We headed to the dining room(because everything else was blocked off) and the girl folding napkins just looked at us as if we were intruding. My friend, who was getting quite irritated, asked if we could sit and the lady said the restaurant was closed but could ask if we could sit. My friend just waltzed up right to a table, sat, and said now its open… and we would be happy with the bar menu. Food was quite good actually so no complaints there. I don’t think I would pay to become a member here, although I don’t work in the industry. I am sure that this would be a great networking place. Also, it’s just nice to bring your guests or potential clients to a place that is for«members» only. However, take out the members only part, and you’re left with pretty much an average restaurant/event space on King Street. If you’re interested in a membership though, be sure to think of what your favorite book is.

This is a great spot to hang out on a summer night on the rooftop patio! I try to stop in each time I visit Toronto as the service is awesome.(It should be as you need to pay to be a member). If you hang out there regularly you’re bound to run into some interesting and cool people. The view is also good from the roof, a nice way to experience T.O. If you don’t know someone with a membership, your best bet is to hang out by the door and look very friendly… hope someone takes a liking to you…

I didn’t even know this place existed, which is kinda the point. I was brought here by a former Member for a mini tour of the place. The guy at the front desk didn’t seem to have a problem with us wandering around even though we didn’t currently have memberships. We were required to leave a name with him though. There’s lots of space, but each room is very cozy in its own way. Interesting artwork can be found on the walls. Beautiful warm finishes throughout. We wandered upstairs to hang out on the rooftop patio. Interesting view of the city from there and nice and quiet compared to the bustling club crowd on the streets below. Lots of seating available for various group sizes. If this place was open to the public, I would rate it higher, but the membership fee is astronomical($ 800 per year and $ 500 initiation fee). I suppose it probably wouldn’t be as beautiful if it were open to just anyone, but I don’t like the exclusivity of the place. I have been invited to an artist’s event here later this month. Stay tuned for my update.

There’s a massive misconception that this is the hidden enclave of the beautiful and famous. In fact, it would be extremely difficult for there to be any more sorry looking wannabees packed into such a space. Remember all those kids in high school who so desperately wanted to be cool? They’re all here. And they’ve all exercised their«bring a plus one» option just so they can show off to their fake-friends how extremely important they are. A slew of old used up stick insects on one side of the room. A bunch of balding men wearing shirts with skulls on them on the other. Vapid, uninteresting conversation. No real mingling. They have 1200 members. Therefore the place is pretty much always guaranteed to be full of a whole LOT of social rejects who will spend half their time staring at each other. The irony of a pack of thousand-plus faceless people paying money in order to feel unique is not lost on the author whatsoever. Sure, they have decent meeting space… a stellar selection of drinks and wonderful, pretty staff… but you’re more likely to find an «important person» hanging at the well-stocked bar at the Biermarket downstairs or sitting in the beautiful back room of La Merceria coffeeshop less than a block away. If you’ve decided that you’re going to be buying your friends, there are plenty of better places to shop.

Came here on a random night not quite sure where I was going or what I was doing. .sounds like many nights. Only aftger looking it up, post-experience, did I find out that weird hotel-type checkin was there becasue it was a members’ only club. This place is amazing, from the lounge space, the excellent heated rooftop patio to the wine cellar and private theatre. bartenders are totally fabulous and will cater to your tastes. the venue is incredible. I’d consider joining but its an arts & media type of place and while I like hanging out with arts&media people I myself have absolutely no interest in paying the 800 $ membership fee to shmooze with people. but as the other reviewers have said, it’s probably worth it if you’re in the industry.
