Loki Lounge

This place has a sketchy feel to it. You go down some tiny staircase to get in. Once in you see how tiny the venue is and how dirty the bar is. Also this is the place that Rob Ford’s crack smoking friends got shot at… That should probably say enough.
Come here during the day for Barcraft and stay away at night.

umm… Can anyone say fire hazard?
VENUE
The venue was in a great location (around King and Spadina) but it was in the basement. Walking down the stairs seemed odd since it was fit for only 1 person (regardless the direction) and the coat check completely blocked traffic. It was in this little corner under the stairs. It kind of reminded me of where Harry Potter slept at his uncle’s place.
Inside was ok. The washrooms were ridiculously small and in odd places of the venue
There was only 1 bar and the dj was right on the floor with us.
Our booth was one little couch and a small table that was basically a table top on the floor.
The couch was really pretty though and they did have some great wall decorations. I think with different lighting, the place could have been gorgeous.
CROWD
getting there at around 11 on a Saturday, the venue was EMPTY. Not a single person other than my 40 person group.
It didn’t fill up until about 1. There were sooooo many ppl that you couldn’t even grind if you wanted to because you were packed in like sardines.
MUSIC
the music is definitely not top 40 on Saturday nights. It’s more of BET. Rihanna is as close are you will get to Top 40.
SECURITY
Ok this is where I was utterly disgusted and shocked with the attitude and force used. We were waiting in line to leave and as we know from the previous section of this review, only one person can walk either up or down the stairs to leave.
So there was no one coming down and we decided to go get our coats. All of a sudden, security comes and shoves my friend into the wall and yells wait in line. umm… hello? we were waiting in line. no one was coming down. My friend was the first one in line. Can anyone say power tripping?
seriously though. that was completely disrespectful and uncalled for. Already you have way too many people in the club and you are waiting for some ppl that are at the top of the stairs debating whether they want to come in or not when there is a massive line up for people to leave? Is $ 20 bucks worth that much to you to shove a guy into the wall?
I will not come back here again to go clubbing. But maybe if there was an event here, I may come back b/​c the venue looked nice (I think…)…well except for the washrooms.
