We didn’t try the hot pot, but the Chiu Chow dishes are excellent and very authentic. The spicy chilli chicken is great. The pan fried yellow noodles are very well made. The Chiu Chow seaweed fish ball fun-noodle soup is the most authentic and most flavorful one I’ve ever had in Vancouver. The décor is kinda wacky, but the food is good and that is all that matters.

Worst place ever. We went here because my friend suggested it and said it was good, as we walked in and it was completely dead. Should have taken that as a sign. But stayed anyways. They have changed owners for a year now so maybe that’s why it sucks. We had AYCE hot pot. Bad idea. We ordered 2 soup bases tom yum and pork bone. The Tom yum was flavourless and the pork bone had like 1 small piece of pork and again flavourless. We asked them if we could have extra tom yum to add to our soup and they said it’ll be $ 3?! $ 3TOADDMOREFLAVOURTOMYFLAVOURLESSBROTH?! Are you joking me. Then we told the manager and she said oh okay that’s fine. The meat seems as if it’s been in the freezer for months, understandable considering NOONE was in the restaurant on a SATURDAY night. My dinner was not good & for the price? No. I will never ever be back.

DONOTEATHERE!!! Chubby lamb not only offers hotpot now but also offers a la carte menu. Food was not fresh, Service was horrible… Especially this one waitress who looked pissed the entire time. price is cheap for $ 22.50 but for the quality of food & service you get, better just pay an extra $ 5 and go to toyotomi or elsewhere…

Wow, this is my very 1st review on Unilocal.Seriously, this place doesn’t even worth the 1 star. Worst AYCE hotpot ever! Owner changed, owned by PPL from mainland china now. The service is really bad and the food quality is not as good as before. Don’t waste your money!

AYCE hot pot! It’s in a little plaza with a bunch of other Asian restaurants. From the outside it doesn’t look like much, but it’s pretty big. You can choose to have two different soups — one spicy and one not spicy. They have a sheet where you mark what you want and they bring it out. Once you’re ready to order more ask for another sheet to mark what you want. I found that similar to other AYCE places, what you mark does not equal to what they bring out. For example, when you write two orders, you may sometimes get a lot, or you may get a little… Bottom line, it’s hard to gauge what you actually get! I like that they have a good selection of meats, vegetables, balls, etc. Even though it’s a hot pot place and we cook everything before we eat, I still appreciated that everything came out in clean dishes and seemed clean. Service was also on point and they constantly made sure we had everything we needed. Not sure how this place compares to other places in Vancouver, but it’s pretty solid IMO…

I really like this place! After trying a few hot pot places in the area, this is pretty much a true AYCE hot pot place. The soups were tasty, the meat and vegetables were fresh. The prices are reasonable — $ 150 for 4 people. Sometimes you have to order things a few times, as they don’t always get the orders right, but for the most part, they were good! I will definitely be back!

Food is fresh and broths are tasty. I found it a bit pricey for two people. Much better if you come in groups. Set price is $ 22.50 each person + $ 7 for the broth for two people. They even have divider pots if you don’t want to mix. $ 52 total for two people. Make sure your really hungry before coming to take advantage of the all you can eat.

$ 18.99 per person plus $ 7 for mushroom broth. If you want 2 soup bases, it was $ 9. $ 1 extra for all you can drink soda :)! Food quality was decent and fresh. Veggies looked like they were cleaned properly. The mushroom broth had a variety of mushrooms, snow fungus and wood ears. The staff refill the pot with the same broth afterwards. Like most places, we did not receive all the items we ordered in the first round. Service was good. Staff cleared plated and refilled tea promptly. Ambiance is a bit dated. The restaurant was clean which I like. Parking in Richmond is usually a nightmare and especially at this part of Richmond. We managed to find a parking spot at 9pm but the lot was still very much full of cars plus cars that made up their own parking spots.

Not really a seafood buffet. They charge you per oysters and mussels. Only one free per patron. Rest are unlimited though the prawns aren’t the best of quality and aren’t as fresh. Pancake is overrated and lacking flavour. Overall not what I expected and parking is a n nightmare, so that leaves me few reason to return.

Food is great, fresh and way better than the other hot pot places. Though I think Little Sheep is still better in the soup base, this place is certainly great! Great service too!

I love hot pot and I love Chubby Lamb. For a small Chinese restaurant, the service is good. They refill your water and replace your plates without you having to ask. TRUSTME! This is considered great service for a Chinese place. The food is good and the price is standard. This is absolutely my favorite hot pot place! Highly recommended.

I’m not much of a fan for AYCE very much because, as a guy, you tend to try to get«value for your dollar» and you end up eating WAAAAY too much. In fact, I rarely go to AYCE any more. Chubby lamb is not a bad choice if you decide on AYCE. Depending on what you like, you can get various cooking broths for your choice of menu cooking items. Recommend the spicy broth, tho. For myself, I would load up on meat and seafood. Minimal veggies and tofu. All of that is a waste of stomach space. Not a true dining experience, but if you want to enter the realms of Asian pigging out, this is for you! Just don’t eat yourself into oblivion.

Hot pot is a foreign concept to non-foreigners. I’ve gotten too many blank wtf stares that I’ve given up trying to pitch the concept. I’ve been to a few hot pot joints around town, and Chubby Lamb tops my list. Great AYCE value. Ingredients are consistently fresh with the fatty beef being my favourite. Good variety of meats, seafood, and veggies. The manager/owner is always friendly, as are the other staff. A rarity for such a place. Try it.

For when I can’t get into Cattle hot pot(which is only a few doors away). I don’t like Chubby Lamb as much because the inside is homelier-looking and not as clean. Cleanliness is a huge deal for me, so I get wary when the bowls and utensils are sticky and still stained. The only reason I still come here from time to time is because they always replace the bowls with cleaner ones upon request. Food quality and price are comparable to Cattle. Sometimes the meat is on the fatty side, but I really like their spicy soup base. They have a good selection of meats, veggies, noodles, etc. and soda is AYCD for $ 1! Service is pretty fast, and it’s better if you can speak Canto/Mando. This is definitely a good place to go with a big group of friends on a chilly winter(and heck, fall and spring) night. We’re allowed to get really loud and gross(read: gluttonous) here. As with any hot pot restaurant, you should call in to make a reservation on weekends/holidays.

Surprisingly, for someone who’s a fan of hot pot, I’ve never been to Chubby Lamb before. I’ve heard many people rave about this place so I decided I should finally give this place a try. The overall experience was excellent! Food was great, we just had to check off the items we wanted and they would bring enough for the number of people at your table, unlike some places that will deliberately cut down on portions even when you ask for extra. Chubby Lamb’s method works well for portion control too because it actually gives you a chance to try different items, then re-order your favourites the second/third/fourth time around! Their selection of hot pot items was great, and everything came out quite quickly. My favourite item actually wasn’t a hot pot item though. Their green onion pancake is TODIEFOR! I think our table of 8 people ordered 6 orders of green onion pancake and the dish was gone as soon as it came out! Cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside and soft and tender/chewy on the inside, I would go back time and time again just for this item! In addition to great food, their service was also top notch. The waitresses were always friendly and attentive, and brought what we asked for in a very timely manner, be it more food items, extra cutlery, more dipping sauces, tea, drinks. They even came by a few times to change out our plates so we always had a clean plate to eat out of! Another unique aspect of this joint that I haven’t seen at other places, is that you can add unlimited, all-you-can-drink pop to your all-you-can-eat meal. It’s not the cheap, watered down fountain drink stuff, either — they bring you the whole can, as many cans as you want with your meal! The only disappointment of the night was realizing that I should have checked out this place a lot sooner! Two thumbs up for sure, and definitely my new favourite hot pot joint! :)

First things first, you should definitely call in to book a time slot, especially on weekends. Either 6pm, 8pm, or 10pm is best as they get rounds of ayce hotpotters during those slots. I love the food, and all the sauces are free(garlic, green onion, satay, peanut, vinegar, chili oil, etc.) unlike other places that charge you 50cents per extra condiment/sauce. The meat is really good — fresh and not dry(if you eat hot pot a lot you know what I mean by dry). Green onion pancake is a must-try…I don’t care that they probably only put it on the menu to fill you up… it is freaking awesome. It’s what I would eat once I’ve already stuffed myself with all the other stuff. Also pop is $ 1 with free refills(again, to get you full… but still a good deal if you don’t want to gorge)!

Myself being not typically a big hot pot fan, I had no idea why I chose this place to dine when I was in Richmond earlier this year, and I wasn’t even sure why the hell I’ve landed to a city as hideous as Richmond, BC. The food is above average, I’ll give you that. The seafood is good so was the meat. But the service was a bit low since the waitress didn’t really know what they were doing and had a apathetic attitude. And it’s for sure overpriced, I didn’t know eating out in Canada is so expensive. I would probably only go back if somebody’s paying for me.

I’m so glad that I didn’t spend a penny at this place. The wait staff was rude beyond belief. We walked in around 7:30pm on Friday and saw a few people waiting in the front lounge for table. We waited for a wait staff to appear from the kitchen at the back to inquire about the wait staff. I didn’t even have the opportunity to mutter the first sound of my question, this middle age waitress gave me a really annoyed look telling me in Cantonese«no table, no table, no table». No kidding! I could see that for myself. I don’t think she realizes that many other people, unlike her, can use their intelligence to interpret situations from their environment. I don’t let things go. That’s just me. I insisted on her giving me an estimated wait time. I looked around and then her … it’s not worth a 2-hour wait.

I liked this place better than HKYK. We could be inconspicuous customers here and not bump into anybody else we knew. The hot pot soups were really good and of course we ordered the basics and did the AYCE thing. Which we really shouldn’t do. We eat so little. The waitress kept asking me in Chinese to order more. She was a nice lady, funny and always wanting to feed me. Overall. Good value, nice service and simple. Hot pots are good for a cold winters night.
