My favourite ayce place. Have yet to find anything better. They bring what you order and wont skimp out on the meat. Excellent service, excellent quality, excellent drink selection, and very clean and comfortable. I go almost every week. If you haven’t tried yet, do the ayce… Forget about those stupid groupons or lame single pot sets. Ayce is where its at! Dont forget to get a stamp card. Thats it im done.

This resto is actually good. My buddy and I planned to go to Claypot and came here instead since Claypot was closed around noon. I love their Chinese Herbal soup base and they actually add chicken thigh for enhanced flavour. Herbal soup base tasted clean and flavourful. I couldn’t stop drinking the soup. Meat and seafood selections were great as well. Pork, beef and lamb all came out thinly sliced. They were all good. Plus you can order any drinks aside from pop and plum juice. Beer, bubble tea and iced teas are listed as well. Service was prompt as well. Our bill costed around $ 60 as it’s $ 11 for herbal soup base and charges $ 20.95 per person. Would definetely go back.

My go-to for AYCE hotpot in Richmond if I didn’t want to dish out the bucks for Landmark. The service was very prompt but there were only two other tables dining at the time. However, it’s surprisingly how other restaurants could still have insufficient service. The meat and veggies were fresh! I would definitely pick this over my once go-to hotpot, Claypot. The atmosphere here is much more comfortable and quiet than the rather large and loud Claypot. They had these delicious deep fried yams, so addicting! You have to try these! Also deep fried chicken wings, fish cakes and AYCD(drink) for $ 1.50. They also had deep fried buns with condense milk, but they were almost burnt. Should never serve food that is over-done. –1 star

A few of us went here during lunch time(just as they opened) armed with Groupons that we had purchased a while back and got the pre-set tom yum seafood soup base hotpot deal. This seemed to be the best time to come because there was no waiting and we were one of three tables that were occupied(possibly because it was sweltering outside — who eats hot pot on a hot day — we do!). The deal came with a variety of seafood(already in the soup), fresh veggies, dumplings, noodles, and also a side of fish cakes and chicken skewers. Basically, tonnes of food! While some might be turned off by the tom yum seafood soup base, I really liked the sweet, sour and salty taste of it, and it really complimented the seafood. Another highlight were the chicken skewers which were very tender and flavourful(though eat these quickly as they really aren’t great cold). Service was quite good and the server that we had was very attentive. Overall, this is a pretty decent hotpot place that serves up fresh ingredients. Nothing about it will blow your mind, but it will definitely suffice in filling your belly with hotpot goodness. I would go back to try out some of their other sides and hot pot options!

I didn’t like the tom yum seafood soup base. The sides, fish cakes and satays, were ok. The décor is better than average with fairly comfortable seating. However overall, it’s not as good as some of the other hotpot places I’ve been to in term of taste.

Well we had to wait for over 40 minutes for a table, and the men’s room is absolutely horrid! But still MaThai Hotpot gets 4 stars from me! MaThai Hotpot is a tiny hole in the wall restaurant in the middle of Richmond’s Asian food street — Alexander Road. There are probably a 100 or so Asian restaurants all packed tightly together within a 3 or 4 block radius. Finding parking can be a challenge most nights but if you don’t mind the hike you can always find parking at Lansdown Shopping Mall. Ok back to MaThai… It’s a all you can eat hotpot the offers lots of delish food choices… Meats(beef, lamb, pork, chicken…), seafood(pawns, oysters…) veggies … Basically it looks like you can pick anything that walks on 4 legs! They even offer you a variety of cooked dishes. Fried chicken wings, and deep fried sweet buns. The other thing I like is for $ 1.50 you get all the canned pop you can drink! That is unheard of! This place probably holds like 40 people at most, and we went on a Monday night and it was super busy! Be prepared to wait. Service is so so here. I could only observe 2 waitresses and they both seemed to be hopping all night. I know our waitress was super busy but I can see that she really attempted to provide us with the best service she could. She was by often to fill up our hotpots and to make sure our tea cups were filled. MaThai is worth a try if your hankering for some hotpot on a cold Vancouver winter night!
