It was my sisters birthday and she really wanted to try this restaurant. Her husband, myself, and our 95 year old grandmother showed up for our reservation. Being greeted and seated was fine, no problems there. It was an hour and twenty minutes after ordering, when our food finally showed up. Only the surf and turf dish came, we had to wait an extra 8 minutes to receive our three portions of fish and chips. Clearly poor timing by the kitchen staff. The steak was overcooked, requested mid-rare, came medium-well. The fish and chips were undercooked as the batter was like oil soaked powder, and had a bit of a funky smell. It was absolutely disgusting. After complaining to the manager, and requesting the bill, our dining experience lasted nearly three hours. In my opinion, that is ridiculous, and downright shambolic. Plus they had the nerve to charge us for food that was inedible, and left uneaten. I recommend not being fooled by the glitter or the frills that this place offers, prices whether high or low, its the food that makes or breaks the dining experience not the décor.

I have had an awesome time here over and over again! Great service(Mario was awesome). As far as food goes, make sure to have the Miso Encrusted Halibut.

This was without a doubt, one of the worst experiences of my life. I ordered the mixed seafood platter which was supposed to include salmon, crab stuffed lobster and prawns with a penis beurre blanc. For ten dollars more you could make it a three course dinner by adding a selection of an appetizer and dessert(I chose the lobster bisque and crème Brule) The dissapointment began with the bisque which was flavorless and barely warm. It continued with the main course where the salmon was very overcooked although I was informed it would be medium rare; the lobster was not stuffed with crab but topped with a mixture of crab and cream cheese(forgivable except for the lobster and topping were cold and the prawns were overcooked to the point of being rubbery and there was no hint of a penis beurre blanc. Although the rice was not inedible neither was it inspired and the stir-fried zucchini was bland, simple and not what one would expect of a supposedly well respected restaurantMoreover before dessert was served the table was informed that there was no more Crème Brule. The service was sub par with far too long before dishes were removed and an excessive wait for a cold meal. Furthermore, although I was the only one to voice my concerns, I was informed by other members of the table that they too had problems with the meal, from bland flavors to undersized ‘king crab” to cold food. The washroom was not terribly clean and a 1700.00 bill for 11 people not including alcohol was extrodinarily unreasonable considering the poor service underwhelming food and small portions. A Big Fat Zero across the board in my humble opinion.

I drove up from Seattle to take my Mom and two boys for brunch today. We had so been looking forward to it and the weather was beautiful. 3 of us ordered eggs Benny. The eggs were perfect for egg salad. They were hard and cold. The English muffins weren’t toasted and the Hollandaise was bland. My avocado was brown. Overall it was awful. My son’s crab cake was cat food like and very smelly. When the waiter asked how everything was, I replied that the eggs were over cooked. he replied that he would let the kitchen know. We won’t be back, maybe they have had a change of owner, it used to be quite good. If you’re in the area, I honestly would recommend Pajo’s over The Boathouse. $ 100 and no one could eat their food. The restaurant was empty yet the park was packed. Too bad, the location is stunning.

…they must have changed owners as this place sucks now!!! The food is horrendous and you’d be better served going to a White Spot. The servers and hostesses seemed to have been all replaced by 12 year olds. This place is a HUGE ripoff now.

The fish tacos are apparently one of the best things… they apparently weren’t that great. I also wouldn’t know cause I can’t eat wheat… And they recommended them to is even though we asked what the gluten-free menu items were. Good ambiance for the game

I booked lunch for 6 of us, and surprisingly, the restaurant was very quiet when we arrived. There weren’t many lunch customers, although we were there pretty early(~11:30am-12:00pm). Having said that, we were able to get great service because it was pretty empty. The food was above average, but nothing incredible or something I want to come back for. I would come back to Boathouse Port Moody for its scenic view or a family outing. It’s not somewhere I would come for a romantic dinner or a special occasion.

I would recommend this place simply because of its beautiful location. The picturesque water and mountains nearby, provide a breathtaking backdrop to look at while waiting for your food. There were lots of windows and you could get a great view of the scenery pretty much no matter where your table was. The food is pretty great too! A wide selection of seafood ranging from fish, crab, lobster, mussels and clams. I chose the clam linguini. I found the portions to be just the right size. I ate everything on my plate and was comfortably full. My dinner cost around $ 25 which included a glass of Pepsi. This place has the potential to be high end in terms of the boathouse like interior and table settings. I did see a lot of families with young children. The noise level was quite loud during dinner time. The servers were pretty friendly but the service was a bit slow. Overall the experience was about average.

This particular location is at rocky point in Port Moody. The parking can be pretty hectic because the parking space is shared with the patrons of the park. There is a complimentary valet service offered by The Boathouse if you are eating at the restaurant. If you can get yourself a seat on the patio, you would have a pretty good view of the water. There are tables along the windows that also offer a good view of the Burrard Inlet. The restaurant itself is very spacious inside with high ceilings with wooden beams; it is big enough to accommodate a large party or two. We started off with steamed mussels in thai green curry broth, crab dip and sweet chilli chicken. Steamed mussels were delicious; the mussels were plump but on the smaller side. The crab dip was okay. It was very creamy but didn’t have enough crab taste. Sweet chilli chicken was sweet and didn’t pack on too much heat. The halibut with miso crust was absolutely succulent and cooked to perfection. That was my favourite meal of the night.

Worst restaurant experience ever. Sat in the lounge by the bar as it was a busy, sunny day. Took 25min to get our second beer as they didn’t have enough clean beer glasses. Food took 1hr to come out, and it was one appy and one kids meal. Hiring kids at the front to seat people and quoting 1.5hrs to wait, not recommending the empty lounge where the restaurant might actually make some money. Going out of business strategy.

Food was awesome. It was a busy Saturday night so we were seated on the patio. Prices were a bit high. But overall a good time.

this place has steadily gone downhill in the last few years but it may have finally hit rock bottom. poor service, low quality food and little to no care put into what is being served. we went for brunch(5 of us) and 3 had to send their meals back because of things not being correct or edible. eggs were overcooked to rock hard, fries cold ect. the avocado in my omelet was black and rotten. absolutely disgusting. the only thing this place has going for it is the view & location. I might return for a beverage on the patio in the summer, but would never eat here again. sadly, most of the healthy items have been removed from the menu and it’s just lots of fried stuff now.

I’m not sure about all the negative reviews, but we have eaten at the Port Moody Boathouse dozens of times and have never had a negative experience. Some have been outstanding what others have been nearly good, but we have never been disappointed. It starts with the setting of course. The restaurant and the view is outstanding. And the food and service is above par. Is it the best? Probably not. But we never think twice about whether to come here.

We have tried to enjoy this restaurant a few times now but unfortunately(or maybe fortunately) we will not be returning again. The view is nice, yes, but for being a seafood restaurant they sadly miss the mark. I am a restaurant server myself so I am a very forgiving guest but all of the problems we have now encountered make for an unforgivable experience 1st visit: arrived for lunch and seated fairly quickly on the patio. Waited a good 10 minutes for a greet at which point I actually got up out of my seat to let someone know we were out there. A server came out and went and cleared plates at another table out there without so much as a glance our way. I tried to say excuse me and was met with a «in a minute» over her shoulder as she walked away. Another 5 minutes passed and she returned and asked if were ready to order. No «how are you» or anything… ok fine she was having an off day I don’t need chit chat just friendly service and maybe an apology for clearly not being able to give us the service we were expecting. We placed our order and ordered a drink from the bar. I ordered crab legs a side of vegetable and a side house salad with no nuts. The salad arrived with nuts before our drinks. The drinks came and I informed her of the nuts in the salad. She took it back after blaming it on the kitchen and we continued to sit and wait… and wait and wait… since we both didn’t have our kids and didn’t plan on driving we were hoping to have a few drinks and enjoy a leisurely lunch. Lol i guess we got slow and leisurely! Our drinks sat empty the entire time and we would have drank 3 easily each. Ah well the saga continues… lunch arrives and I have no butter for my crab and still no salad. I remind her of the salad and she goes to retrieve it and we also ask for more ketchup for my husband’s fish and chips. She comes back with the salad with nuts again and ketchup and no butter. I ask for the butter and this whole time the empty drinks are on the table no offer for more or anything. I also remind her of the nut allergy and she goes«so do u want me to get them to remake it or do u want to just forget about it now» I told her I wanted the bloody salad so she leaves AGAIN And I try to ask her for a drink as she is walking away and once again she does the whole«in a minute» thing. By this time I was pissed right off. Bad service is forgivable is they are at least friendly! She was downright rude! So anyways comes back with the salad and the nuts were clearly picked out of it. Dunno if she was embarrassed to tell the kitchen she screwed up again or what but I have a severe nut allergy!!! I literally just pushed it aside after fishing through it and seeing she missed a few. And I never did get another drink. As we sat there with our dirty plates stacked on the side of the table and empty glasses I began to realize that she most likely would not be returning to offer dessert or the bill. Too bad too because we easily would have had 3 drinks each 2 entrees and dessert and after dinner drinks. I finally had to go get up and ask another staff for the bill. She wasn’t much help and said oh you will have to ask your server… who seriously never came back. We gathered our stuff and went back to the bar and waited for someone to come help us. We had to pay at the bar didn’t get to pack up the crab legs didn’t get dessert didn’t get drinks and still paid for the salad that could’ve killed me… I was so mad I just had to leave. 2nd visit– service not quite as bad as the first but I did receive a dish that I did not order. By the time I got my food my husband had finished eating. Our bill was also wrong and it took ages to get fixed as again we had a server missing in action. No offer of dessert which we wanted but again we had already waited so long with plates piled on our table water glasses empty and then received the WRONG bill before we were even ready for it. 3rd visit– went into the ladies room to wash my hands with my daughter before we sat down. There was vomit all over one of the stalls. Like everywhere! It was on the walls, the floor, the toilet everywhere. It was disgusting! The stench in the washroom was overwhelming. I went and told one of the servers on my way out and she goes«ewww that’s sick!» When we went to leave after eating we went back into the washroom and it was still there… We will never ever return. Ever.

Only been here for lunch. I had the eggs Benedict. My wife had the steak sandwich. Both were excellent! My only complaint was the portions. Most plates coming out, including our own, felt a bit on the small size. I have been to other Boathouses for dinner but I would have to say I much prefer their lunch menu.

Not so «Appy» about«Appy Hour»!!! Glad that we didn’t stay for the dinner… We wouldn’t have thought it to be so badly reviewed, but here I am reading about nearly our exact experience, written over and over again… TERRIBLE!!! We spent the day at beautiful Rocky Point and walked around to the beach across from the Boathouse. Had a look back and decided that some poached prawns and cocktail sauce were in order. Upon our arrival, we discovered that it was still Appy Hour and we could order a few Appy’s to try at a decent price. Prawns, Halibut bites, and Calamari and yam fries… Great! Service to start was slow(servers were chatting at the end of the bar). We ordered a couple bevies and some ice water. The drinks came but no water, so I asked Crystal(our server) again. Food came and we dug in. After one bite our she asked how everything was… we did just get it, so we said good. Flagged down someone to get Crystal back to order more prawns before 6pm. She came and said that it looked like we were looking for her(because I was! Why not come on over to the table to be sure?! This was 5 mins to 6 and our drinks were empty, and nearly out of water. Didn’t see her again for 20 minutes when she came out with our second order of prawns. During our drink-less wait, we ate through our other appys and discovered that the bottom half of the calamari was a bunch of dark brown crumbles, which to my pallet(had more than my fair share) tasted burnt. I brought it to our servers attention when she dropped off the prawns and she told me that those are the bits and were ok. I reiterated that they were charred and inedible. I asked why it took over 20 mins for our prawns and that we would have ordered drinks 20 mins ago had she asked. She said they were busy(not really, most people came in that we saw at 10 after 6). She filled our water and slammed down my Wife’s water glass and walked away shaking her head. She came back with the bill, we paid, and I asked for the manager. Denis the manager came over and listened to what I had to say(all of the above). His first words came out with a stink like he just ate a cigarette butt. Ewww! He seemed to listen and said he’d bring this to our servers attention. I guess he’s heard this often enough… because he didn’t seem to care if we came back or not. Funny thing is(Denis), tomorrow is our Anniversary(which we celebrate monthly), and this was going to be our go-to place as it has such a beautiful patio view! Oh well, 2 appy’s, 2 dinners and a bottle of fine wine will be purchased elsewhere every month! They won’t see our $ 200 every month! This place isn’t worth a second try, especially after reading how many people get sick and have had such terrible experiences. We just moved from False Creek and frequented the Kits and Downtown locations, and will miss them dearly… We are not happy with our new, local Boathouse! Grrrr!!!
