I had recently started going here as I was looking for a good Sushi place with a nice atmosphere. I am also a fan of the tatame rooms. The first visit I found the Sushi very nice and the rolls were mega. Like they say in the menu. Service was good and we thought this was going to be our new«go to» . The Second time we invited a friend to join us. We had ordered one roll while waiting for him and when he arrived about 10 minutes we ordered another .I was hoping to sit and enjoy them as they slowly arrived separately. We also added a third order when he had picked out a few more. As we sat waiting I did comment to the waitress how it was taking a long time. She had told me it was very busy. Although I did watch the table across from us. Order, eat, and get their food packaged to go and proceed to pay, all the while we had received nothing. When I voiced my displeasure at the front they were very apologetic and said it was coming. It was quite empty now and in a few minutes all our food showed up at once .Not exactly how I ordered it or wanted it . The owner did give us a free roll and a slight discount. I would rather have had better service. OK one more try. I keep hoping. It was a not a busy night. We went with another couple .I had made a reservation. The table was not set. We were not offered water or tea or to get drinks ordered We waited fifteen minutes after we were seated when I finally phoned the desk to ask if she could take my order. She was more than willing to take a phone order but I had to inform her that I was already there and waiting. .They did come quite quickly. The orders were filled quite quickly. But now these so called«mega rolls«were half the size. There wa s a language barrier with the waitress .And a mistake with an order but all in all everything went pretty good. Except no one ever refilled the tea or water or asked if we would like anything else., and after we were finished eating no one took any empty plates away. Even though they walked by many times. I finally asked if they could take them away . This place looked so promising at first unfortunately my search must continue … Here is a picture of how big they originally were. I forgot to take a new picture, but is honestly was half the circumference. A little consistency would go a long way !

their teriyaki and special rolls are really special and delicious. no other restaurants have Asahi’s roll types. sea breeze roll, fish and chips roll, cryspy crunch roll … unique and yammi… especially their red burn roll was so spicy but delicious! it is really good somebody who likes real spicy taste. the sise of foods sre generous and their prices are reasonable. it was good for my family dinner.

We ordered the pork gyoza, ebi sunomono, agedashi tofu, Fire combo and spicy tuna tempura roll. The appetizers were all ok, except that the free edemame was cold — we prefer it warm. The biggest turn off for us were the rolls. The tuna and salmon in the fire combo were all chopped, like they went through a blender. When we got the spicy tuna tempura roll, we thought we had received the wrong order. The tuna looked like it was from a can, we could not see any tempura and there was too much imitation crab meat. It was not as appetizing as it sounded. To top it off it is more than what other local sushi restaurants charge. This was my first time coming here and I don’t think I’ll be back.

I hate to downgrade these folks because the staff really is lovely, however, I have to be honest and say that the quality of the food has been going downhill progressively for the past 4 months. The chicken teriyaki, rolls and tempura are awful. The sashimi is still good, and the udon soup is good.

It’s a good hidden gem in Port Coquitlam. It’s a bit pricey but I think it’s worth it. And the little old Japanese waitress is so cute and friendly!!! I like their #2 Bento Box! :) it’s really filling and their tempura sauce was great! They provide plentiful teriyaki sauce too.
