Meet the Manager
Nate S.
Manager
Nate has been involved with the planning of the West End Well long before it had a name. He was introduced to the concept by his father, current board member Bill Shields, years ago and has been working in related fields, gaining the experience and training required to oversee such a project. He began working in the food service and hospitality industry while in high school and maintained a number of part-time hotel and restaurant jobs throughout his studies at Carleton and La Trobe universities. More recently, he has held a number of management roles at The Fairmont Empress Hotel and Spinnakers Gastro Brewpub & Guesthouses in Victoria, BC. Spinnakers’ commitment to local food and sustainable practices provided a great example for the potential of the West End Well café, and left Nathaniel with a strong command of the wants and needs of such an establishment’s staff, suppliers, and customers.
