I was thrown off by how the owner treated his employees. The lady served us was doing a good job but made a mistake while telling us the takeout price as we couldnt finish everything. He literally took her aside and scolded her. We understood her and paid the price we ought to pay but I’m just pissed by the way he treated the girl as i saw her almost tearing up. And also through friends I heard servers dont get any of the tips. Dont waste all your money tipping while the people who really deserve them dont get them.

I’m only giving this place two stars because the service was terrible. The food was decent for AYCE, not nothing special. First off, someone needs to learn how to use spell check on their menu — while most of the typos were fairly easy to figure out, there were a couple that left us puzzled. After we ordered, our server forgot three things we had ordered, so we ended up ordering them again on our second round. What really irked me was the tea. I had requested some and it took me asking twice before she arrived with a pot. When I poured it, I thought it was a bit weak, so I checked and sure enough, there was no actual tea, just boiling water. When I pointed this out, she felt she should advise me that it was green tea — yes, I know what green tea is supposed to look like, and that wasn’t it so she took it back and returned with a pot with about 6 leaves which looked like they had been previously used. At this point I gave up and just ordered water. Lastly, ice cream is on the menu, of which I was informed the options were chocolate, strawberry or vanilla. I ordered vanilla and the server asked if I wanted vanilla and chocolate — sure, why not. It showed up with two scoops of chocolate. I’m not adverse to any ice cream, but again, a serious lack of communication made for an overall unpleasant experience.

I’ve tried many of the sushi restaurants in London but Wonder Sushi is by far my favourite. My friends and I have been enjoying their food for years. The price for all-you-can-eat is fair and a bargain for the quality you receive. Even if you’re not a sushi fan, there are plenty of alternatives such as udon noodle dishes, rice dishes, soups, teriyaki steaks, salmon and chicken, and much more. If you go, try the dinner menu when your all-you-can-eat price includes sashimi and other specialties. My favourite menu item are the grilled scallops. Delicious!

I lived near this restaurant. And I would never eat there. In the summer last year they had their product laid out on the ground at the back of the building. Not in containers. Just laid out on the disgusting ground. They ended up being shut down for a few weeks by the health department. Which just makes me wonder what else they do.

Wonder sushi used to be good. But now, the terrible service just drove me away! Waiters were alway staring at you when you were having dinner. They were chatting, walking around but never helping. We had three people and they only brought us 2 bowls and 2 spoons. Btw, they all had a long face recently. I didn’t know what was going on here but I would not recommend here.

Great price for all you can eat sushi and surprisingly not bad sushi. The reason that this place gets a 3 star review was the service and the atmosphere. This place has some tables and chairs and … Well that’s about it. The waiter was horrible and kept forgetting things we asked for and never came back to the table after we got our food. I would maybe eat here again…

Went for a Saturday all you an eat with friends. It’s not great, and they felt rushed to give you food, forgetting stuff. They gave us raw egg sushi prepared from the previous day.

Food is great however the menu for ayce lunch has shrunken since the last time I visited. Still great food but making rolls have gotten smaller as well. Recommend the salmon belly, its like Salmon Bacon goodness. The teriyaki steak is a hit or miss, but when they get it right its mouth watering goodness. Highly recommended if you want to try very good ayce while in London. There are two locations in London, and this review is for the Highbury location.

I was here on a business trip. I typically go to the Wonder Sushi in Wonderland Rd. What a big mistake it was coming to this restaurant. I would give this place negative stars if I could. As someone who understands Chinese, I was so ashamed to eat here. Why? Because all I could hear was this one waitress cursing up a storm in Chinese about the two foreigners’ tables being full of «idiots» and«asking for too much water» or «needing the bill when she’s obviously busy»(and that’s putting it nicely). As someone who has waited tables at night in order to pay for the full load of classes I was taking during the day, I have gone to hell and back in the regards to the concept of respecting the customer. Even if your customers can’t understand what you’re saying, don’t you think you should at least have the courtesy to keep your mouth shut? Seriously. Don’t come here unless you think customer service is a joke and like being made fun of to your face in Chinese.

This place here is where I lost my sushi virginity, and I’ve never looked back. It all started on a summer day two years ago, when a friend of mine came over, said get in the car, we’re going for sushi. I got in, slightly sceptical as I was squeamish about fish. As soon as we walked in to the little strip mall on highbury that i’ve walked past thousands of times in different states of inebriation, I was getting nervous. What if this raw fish is nasty? Will is smell? Is there anywhere I can politely spit things out if its nasty? But, alas, there was nothing to fear. They had a great selection of non-sushi items for first timers like me. It was awesome. My friend knew exactly what to order for me, and I loved it all. Since then, I’ve been a sushi freak. I love it. I want it near me, inside of me, on me, all over me. Thank you Wonder Sushi, because without you, there would be no me.

A lovely place to go with friends to enjoy some well made sushi, probably the best place in London to eat sushi at a restaurant

First, we should make sure one thing is understood — there’s a difference between sushi, and all-you-can-eat sushi. It’s a whole different philosophy. Sushi is art-as-food; stuffing yourself with as much as you can handle goes against the whole idea. That said… all you can eat sushi can still be awesome, and this place is. It’s just not the same as going to a «proper» sushi restaurant. There’s tons of selection — not just fish, but tempura veggies, and other options. They bring your food very fast — I think our first dish arrived within 3 minutes of them taking our menu sheets. As long as you eat everything you order, they’ll keep on bringing the plates — no buffet lines to deal with. You get a drink, miso soup and green tea ice cream included with your meal. The ice cream is *amazing*. The food itself was rather plain, not a lot of effort/thought was put into the presentation. But again, that’s not really the idea here. The menu states that there’s a maximum time of 90 mins per group. I’m not sure how strictly that’s enforced, but if you’re looking for a place to sit with coworkers/friends all night it’s something to keep in mind. The service gets 1 star — barely. The greetings consisted mainly of grunts. No smiles to be seen. When picking up empty plates from tables there was a lot of crashing and banging into the bins — good thing they use plastic! It’s loud enough that it takes away from the meal; if you’re talking with friends people have to repeat themselves a lot. A great advantage to all you can eat sushi is trying new things, and we did a lot of that. Now I have some new favorites — takoyaki is delicious! If you’re a sushi-noob, you’ll find lots of fun things to try. If you’re a sushi lover, there’s tons of selection and you don’t have to try to narrow your choices down to one or two things like at most places. If you’re a sushi snob(as I can be, not judging) you won’t be crying tears of bliss, but you’re getting stuffed on sushi, so there’s that.

Following my review of the other Wonder Sushi branch in London, I have to say this one is not as good as the other one. In term of the food, it’s petty much similar, but in terms of the service, it was terrible. When we went(and we have only been at this place once…), the restaurant was almost completely empty. The food took forever to arrive and half our order was either missing or the wrong sushi/sashimi. The other branch is now the same size as this branch. But I suggest that you go to the other branch for better service.

The only thing to wonder here is why people still eat this food. I have to disagree with Pheng, the price is not decent. For me, sushi is less about consumption and more about quality. The fish tastes old, the seaweed wrappers are stale and chewy, and although I left full($ 63 for two people) I was unsatisfied. All you can eat sushi = epic fail. I don’t understand for a second why this place is so busy! Does this place cater to the closeted S&M crowd; people who need to be told what to order, how they like it, and how much it should cost, and to eat it with a smile, knowing all the while how horrible it is? If that is the case… Leave this place immediately and go to Asahi. master commands it.

This location is bigger than the Wonderland one, which I have turned away from twice due to the long wait. My love of sushi isn’t very broad — I can eat a california roll or the avocado/cucumber — but I can say that what I’ve had here is good. There is enough options(beef teriyaki, noodles, soups, egg rolls to name a few) to fill your tummy if sushi doesn’t appeal. The way you order and how it is served to you takes some getting used to, but that’s part of the experience. You select dishes from a list and your choices come out in sporadic bursts. You pay for what you eat… anything left over is a surcharge to your bill, so don’t order too much right away. Pace yourself… the servers definitely do.
