Best salmon in town, fresh from bc. Too bad this kind of excellence was too good for Edmonton and you’re now closed for good. What a great loss to the culinary scene. This place was the.

What a fantastic meal! This cute little restaurant is one of Edmonton’s little gems. Be sure to try the Shrimp Lollipops! They are amazing. They have a good wine selection and a great food and incredible service.

I went here with my colleagues while in Edmonton for work in July 2013. I was wow-ed! My first impression was of the overly chatty server, and I wasn’t sure what else to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. The food I ate here was among the best I have had, ever, in a wide variety of restaurants. I tried the shrimp lollipops which were light, crispy and delicious. The side gnocchi was amazing. I have never had gnocchi that was browned up at all, but it was light and pillowy. And finally — the main. Lemon chicken with dates and ricotta. I have raved about this to anyone in earshot who wants to talk about food in Edmonton. The crispy breaded coating was super thin — barely more than a millimetre or so, but it was so crunchy and perfect with the juicy chicken. There was a light, zesty sauce. It was Christmas in my mouth! While I was taken aback by our over-warm welcome and chatty server, and did not really find the quiet relaxing meal I was looking forward to, the place was completely redeemed by an over the top great meal! Would definitely go back and recommend to all my friends!

Went here last night and I had the beef stir fry. The beef was tender and flavourful and the vegetables were perfectly cooked so they retained a crisp freshness which complimented the succulent beef. The sauce was creamy yet light. Not too rich and for someone who has trouble finishing an entire meal I gobbled the entire thing up. I did add a side dish of rice with my stir fry because the main dishes here come only with vegetables. Beyond that the service was fantastic; our server(perhaps one of the owners) was extremely good natured and generally excited about the dishes on the menu. Will definitely be returning.

Well it has been 18 months since my last visit and it makes me a little sad that I haven’t had the opportunity to come here more often. Always the greatest service and a really comfortable environment. This time around I did have an item off the menu, not just a special, and it was wonderful. But to be fair everything is very wonderful. Great flavor pairings and unique ideas.

A friend of mine goes to Grant Macewan and told me she had a great dinner here and strongly suggested I try it out. I couldn’t go for dinner but decided to try their lunch. It’s quite easy to find, has a parking lot and is nicely decorated inside. The confusion starts with their menu. It’s a small booklet that seems a little scattered. The listed price for the Lemongrass Ginger Pork Po’Boy is $ 13 but my bill was less then that. Not a bad thing but still confusing. Now about that Po’Boy… The meat had good flavor but the multi-grain bread wasn’t as thin as it was advertised to be so it overwhelmed the pork. Instead of the petite salad as a side I chose the Butternut Squash soup which was the best bite that afternoon. I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here again but if I did happen to go back I’d probably try the dinner since that’s what my friend suggested in the first place.

I came here for Valentine’s Day 2012. What a delicious assortment of exotic food! We had quail and vegan cheesecake — unbelievable! It’s a small restaurant and I think it’s actually pretty underrated. For Valentine’s Day, it was perfect… the menu was set, but the food and service was still great, plus I was with the one I love and care about most, so what better day could I ask for! I highly recommend the Wild Tangerine if you are into trying different types of food. If you wouldn’t have told me the vegan cheese cake was vegan, there is no way I would have known, yes… it’s that good!

I was there last week for lunch with colleagues. I agree with other reviewers the menu was a bit limited and appeared to be a tad pricey for what was on offer. This could be because of the way the menu is organized. Everyone was generally happy with their meal and there were no complaints. Our table mostly had sandwiches and one person had a chicken stir-fry type of dish. Portions were fine(I don’t go to a fusion restaurant to get stuffed… there’s Red Robin across the street for that). My only concern was that the waitress did not ever seem to smile. That’s not a complaint… I just hope everything’s okay with her.

For a go to meal at lunch that’s sure to please your pocket book as well as your pilate’s instructor, you can’t go wrong with Wild Tangerine. The Brother/Sister duo always have fresh Asian fusion meals that are out of the kitchen fast with flavour that’s furious! Ok, ok not puny! The quaint Oliver hot spot always feels spacious, clean and vibrant. They are famed for their soups and Asian style po’boys. I love the grilled octopus salad, it is quite a refreshing change of pace from your regular bowl of greens. They also have inventive and satisfying vegan options. The dinner menu is quite a bit more expensive then lunch, but with the commitment to fresh, local as well as organic ingredients, you really do get what you pay for.

Wow, what a great dinner we had at the Wild Tangerine. We went there for our 4th anniversary last night and it was totally amazing. We were able to order a number of vegan dishes that were really tasty and the tuna was ethically caught and great too! The combinations of food were very creative. In particular, you should try the chocolate rice pudding which is also vegan — totally awesome. The service was very friendly and it was a comfortable atmosphere.

Wild Tangerine is really a fusion restaurant. The owner, Wilson, took traditional Chinese dishes and modified it into a new«culture» of flavors. Wilson is amazingly friendly and he spends a lot of time getting to know his customers. The presentation of each dish is very artistic and environmentally friendly. If I was a photographer, I would take pictures of these dishes and use it as an art piece for a food magazine. The décor is dangerously put together by breaking some traditional rules of the Chinese culture. I almost have a inward culture shock. I ordered the«Pineapple Chicken Stir-Fry with Steamed Organic Wild Rice» and because of past experiences, my judgements usually is expecting overcooked veggies when it comes to Chinese cuisines… Well I was wrong this time; I saw«life» in my cooked vegetables! My new found veggies tasted fresh, zingy and crisp! My friend had the«Cha-Siu Organic Pembina Pork Tenderloin with Spicy Tangerine Glaze» His«bok choy» was also fresh and crispy! Consistency is important. Sharing is also caring. =) Dessert was like dancing to a new song. He took a simple desert that my mother made for me when I was a little girl and transforms it into royalty. My favorite dish is the octopus salad. For all of you out there who are hesitant about octopus, you might find it easier to eat it in this dish. The dressing and the colorful vegetable hides that«scary taste» you think and fear. Wild Tangerine definitely lives up to it’s name. 100% organic certified, biodegradable take out boxes, but unfortunately not wallet friendly. I would recommend this restaurant for a romantic date.

I’m visiting from Californian for a few days and was lucky to get to eat here during my stay. The food was amazingly fresh and delicious. Nothing too complex and overly done. I had the lollipop shrimp which was a fun dish; thin strands of phyllo dough wrapped around skewered shrimp and flash fried. I had a few bites of the octopus salad; fresh vegetables, tasty dressing. My main course was the curried mussels over pasta; delicious red curry and fresh vegetables. The owner, Wilson, was great and helped us choose a wine off of the bountiful(but not overdone) wine list. I started with a great Canadian micro-brew beer too.

Don’t groan just yet, although Wild Tangerine is an fusion restaurant with matching orange, green, and mauve, the food was quite fantastic. Quite busy for a Friday night with only two waiters doing the rounds, our drinks were always replenished regularly. I started with the steamed bun with flax seeds with mango and peach chutney. It was very soft and warm and the chutney was a nice sweet spread. My main course was green curry shrimp penné. Even after eating a plate of tacos and beer at Overtime, the pasta was wonderful. The curry had more of a thai curry taste than an east indian but what was distinctive was the layer of lemon grass shavings which bathed with the veggies and pasta quite nicely. The washrooms were well lit and clean. One of the cleanest I’ve seen to be honest. The food tasted excellent but be warned, the prices reflect the restaurant’s decision to go with organic and local grown products.

Wild Tangerine has been open for a few years(three or four?) and I’ve been there a handful of times since. I haven’t been enough times to say this for certain, but it doesn’t look like the menu has changed too much over the years. One thing I completely miss and still crave is the potato fries with star anise and homemade ketchup — now that was tasty. As others have mentioned, the menu is quite small. Everything I and my dining partners have had has always been tasty. The portions do seem small with some of the dishes and others are just right. On my most recent visit with my dad and my husband, I had Judy’s famous Thai Green Curry with Prawns & Tortiglioni($ 20) and really thought it was quite delicious. The heat was just right, the veggies were crisp and the shrimp was succulent. My dad has the Asian Chili with Tofu and Rice Cracker($ 13). While he did like the taste, he thought the portion was a touch small. My husband had the 5-Peppercorn crusted Yellow-Fin Tuna with Organic Hemp Oil-Tomato Coulis($ 19). He also really liked the taste, but was hungry not too long after our meal. We also had the Gnocchi with Coconut Cream($ 7), which was fantastic, but very small. The wine list is quite good. I didn’t know what to pick, so I asked our server(I have a sneaking suspicion he was the owner) and he brought me a glass I quite enjoyed(besides the $ 11 price). Another cool touch is the fridge at the front that contains some of the soups and sauces that you can purchase and take home to use in your own cooking. Everything about Wild Tangerine is pleasing to the senses, from the simple yet funky décor, the soft music that is modern yet quiet enough so that you can have a conversation, to the beautifully presented and still delicious food. The restaurant itself is quite small, which makes for a very nice, laid back atmosphere. Wild Tangerine manages to create what so many other restaurants fail to do; genuine fusion, «East meets West», without being pretentious. The dishes are creative and healthy. Even though it was very cold and very snowy on my last visit, I was a bit disappointed that we were the only people in the restaurant for most of our meal. Another couple showed up later. I think Wild Tangerine is a fantastic restaurant, despite the small portion sizes/moderately high price, and I want more people to eat there. I don’t go there often as I tend to eat out a little cheaper, but it is a really nice treat once in a while.

The quality of the food was excellent, however the surprisingly meager morsels failed to impress. Equally this was a very expensive meal in my opinion. The service was average and while we dined on a Tuesday evening, the restaurant was almost empty. As we waited for our service a group of four and then a couple came in, sat read the menu and I presume seeing the prices, left promptly after. Needless to say, I wont be back.

After reading fellow Unilocalers’ rave reviews of Wild Tangerine, I decided to check it out. When I walked in, the place was busy so I decided to order take-out. Friendly waitress handed me the menu which turned out to be surprisingly short and offered limited amount of dishes. I scanned the whole menu, and noticed that the majority of its pages contain lists of wines, beers and other spirits. Also, I wasn’t expecting to see such high prices, but didn’t let them scare me off since I was determined to try Wild Tangerine’s food. I ordered shrimp lollipops, lemon chicken breast stuffed with spinach, ricotta and dates, and Judi’s Famous Thai Green Curry. The order was ready in less than 15 minutes, and I couldn’t wait to get home to dig in. Well, what can I say? Shrimp lollipops were amazing, delicious, finger-licking good! Large, juicy shrimp wrapped in generous amount of thin strips of crispy batter, and dipped into spicy wasabi/yogurt sauce left me impressed and craving for more. The other two dishes, however, left me cold and unimpressed. Portion sizes were small and not worth their price. Stuffed chicken breast was small and not particularly flavourful. I couldn’t taste neither dates nor ricotta: the staffing was bland, and there wasn’t enough of it. Meagre amount of thin strips of carrot, and steamed bob choy didn’t really add any oomph taste-wise. Thai Green Curry was particularly disappointing: none of the ingredients went well together, and the taste wasn’t balanced. Tortiglioni pasta and mixed steamed vegetables in curry sauce? Good on paper, bad on the plate. I didn’t like the taste at all. Shrimps were large, fresh and not overcooked though. Generally, I was disappointed. I was really hoping that Wild Tangerine would knock my socks off, and I would become its loyal customer. If it wasn’t for the shrimp lollipops, I would cross Wild Tangerine off my list of restaurant to visit for good. Lollipops saved the day.

Wild Tangerine is a great, small restaurant. It is simple and contemporary. The service was really great here, they were on hand when we needed something but they were smart enough to leave us alone when we were in deep conversation. Every item they have on the menu sounds delicious and I will definitely be going back again to try the rest of their menu. I didn’t bother with an appetizer and chose the Thai Green Curry for my main course. They did a really good job with this dish. The sauce is thicker then the usual and they served it on pasta. For dessert I went with the fortune cookies(not what you’re thinking). They were actual cookies and they were chewy goodness. They also serve it with milk for some classic dipping. I think this is one of the stand out restaurants in Edmonton!

I LOVE this restaurant! There is a very good reason they have won numerous awards, including«2007 Edmonton Gold Medal Plates Champion and Canadian Culinary Championship Peoples Choice Award» and«Best 25 Things to Eat in Edmonton — Shrimp Lollipops». William and Judy, a brother and sister cooking duo, knock out some amazing Asian Fusion dishes at this intimate restaurant in Oliver. I highly recommend the Lemon Chicken and Marsala Lamb Chops. Prices are reasonable and the food is ultra fresh and super healthy. They also have frozen curries and soups to go so you can play chef at home. Judy’s Famous Green Curry is a spicy favorite that I frequently use on rice and pasta with chicken or prawns. William is very friendly and frequently comes out to talk with his customers. If you see him around don’t be afraid to say«Hi!» and chat about the news of the day. Reservations are available but not always necessary, except I recommend making them on weekends.
