I’ve walked by this restaurant several times around lunchtime and studied its interesting menu through the window, but it has never been open. Then I read the fine print and realised I was regularly doing my grocery shopping nearby on a Tuesday and this little place happened to be closed on Tuesdays(odd day for a business to take off, but then again, consumers are tighter with cash on the second working day… Tight-Arse Tuesdays and all that…). Anyway I popped in on a Thursday and was happily overwhelmed by the many options of pastas: tomato sauces, cream sauces, marinaras, with mushroom, with chicken, even with salmon and vegetables. Every dish looked very delish but I thought I’d skip the Italian fare and try something from the strange little sidebar on the menu that oultined five lunchtime specials. For $ 5.90 you can choose Spaghetti Bolognese, Spicy Hot Sausage, or Pizza by the slice. But get this, there are also two Asian dishes as options! I thought it really strange amid all the saucy Italian cuisine on the list, but I decided to give the BBQ Pork Rice a go, and let me tell you it was better than I’ve tried in some Asian restaurants. The pork was tender and succulent, served with a generous portion of rice and healthy handful of bok choy. Excellent value for quality food, this place, and I’ve not even tried the pasta yet: which is what its real claim to fame is supposed to be.
