All things must come to an end eventually and unfortunately beloved Woolly Latte with be closing after 5 years of successful business. There last trading day will be 23rd October :(. However you still have time to soak up its cosy charm with everything knitting and darn good coffee– especially the introduction of red espresso drinks! Small but good breakfast and lunch menu with quiche of the day with cakes and slices on display to be enjoyed. I do like the savoury muffins with tomato relish.

With places like Woolly Latte’s popping-up in Perth, I find hope for this crafter’s heart. I didn’t realize there needed to be such a movement, or maybe the word is momentum, to bring crafters(and their supplies) together. In a world of abundance, America has had these types of shops for decades. However, throwing a coffee/eatery spin is fresh and unique to Perth. Slowly, but surely, we are getting there! Woolly Latte’s is small and I found their«crafting supplies» to be limited to skeins and hooks/needles. It isn’t like you’ll be finding quilting materials here. Unfortunately, you’ll be left to the shortcomings of Spotlight. Be prepared of pricing. It is a shock to me to see what an $ 8 cotton skein will get you here in Perth. If you travel Stateside, be sure to save some room in your luggage for affordable yarn. What I would do for a Micheal’s or Hobby Lobby! Space is also taken up by purchasable gifts like soaps, homemade items and holiday décor. The food was tasty and I especially liked the salad served with my quiche. The feta/balsamic combo is a flavor I truly enjoy. My iced chai latte(without ice cream) was tasty and cool which helped combat one of their A/C units being out. Servers were friendly and accommodating when they ran out of a particular dish. The restroom is exceptional. I found their pricing to be a little less expensive than traditional cafes and they do have Happy Hour offers. One thing I find lacking here is professionalism, or maybe I should just say standards. The website is never updated. Right now there is info on the Quilt and Craft Fair that occurred May 27th of 2012. That’s over 6 months ago. And, I received a newsletter that stated on a class description, «…you will learn blah, blah, blah.» I’d love for classes to be offered much more frequently and there be continual newsletters(i.e. the last one I received was for September). Their Facebook page is updated infrequently. I thought Wooly Latte’s would be a safe haven for women. Men trickled in and out of the doors. Perhaps locals, perhaps perusing… but it certainly wasn’t for skeins.

Great spot, the previous reviews say it all — part Knitting Club lounge room, part café. They have all the elements sorted, I just wish the coffee machine wasn’t broken today so I could try it. Great relaxed atmosphere and easy parking, worth a look.

Woolly Lattes is probably one of the cutest and most interesting cafes I’ve been to; it’s part café, part knitting and gift boutique. When you walk in it has a homey atmosphere and you feel directly at ease and comfortable thanks to the very friendly staff. Their menu is very varied and has everything from breakfast, to lunch, coffee and cold drinks and delicious treats. Hot drinks are served with a woolly cover(hence the name Woolly Latte) which is a special sight and their mocha frappé is quite simply delectable and the best part there is no surcharge for soy milk! While you wait for you food or drinks you can wander around the café and look at the gorgeous little gifts created by Australian artists and lovely coloured yarns all neatly displayed on a pigeonhole shelf towards the back. In between you will also find unique necklaces, children’s toys and another room completely devoted to balls of yarn, knitting books and some of incredibly cute children’s clothes. Woolly Lattes is really a wonderful experience and is so different to your everyday café, I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to get away from chains rather come and support local businesses and an innovative idea.

Part café and part arts and crafts, this is a curious and cute shop that lets you enjoy your cup of hot, amongst colourful yarns of chubby wool. The surrounds make it a homely hideaway and conjure warm and fuzzy memories of ‘Nan’ and the simplicity and tranquility of knitting. The coffee is seriously good. I’ve only been once but trust them the barista is onto something. I had a scan of the breakfast and lunch menus; there were some classic favorites as well as something out of the ordinary too. Whilst I waited for my coffee, I perused the shelves of chunky wools, knitting accessories and books, and amongst them found a small box that said«take one». Inside were folded notes of inspirational quotes. Corny but charming and they made me feel a little like Alice in Wonderland. It’s not a trendy or hip place, but a cosy and friendly café to seek peace and solace in.
