Studio Bomba

Love this place. Small menu but delicious choices. Perfect Saturday morning stop for coffee and a bite to eat and to look for unique gifts and cards. I found this place while going up and down Oxford street looking at wedding dresses and accessories.
Their coffee is amazing and they do take away as well if you can’t find a spot to sit. Seating is limited.
This morning I had tabbouleh and hummus on toast with a poached egg on top. So good, the Middle Eastern flavour made for breakfast with a difference.

Oh it’s taken me forever to get to this place but I can see why people love it! It’s a gorgeous hub of all things creative and quirky, fashion and food and great coffee too. We stopped by after spying something fantastic on their instagram page & hung around for a cuppa, a browse & some of their heavenly banana bread!
This is the place to go when you’re trying to find a gift for someone and can’t think of anything, be warned, you’ll likely come out with something for yourself too!
There are designers in house for special occasion papergoods (invites and the like), a couple of local fashion designers & makers are tucked in the back behind the coffee shop & the space is just cool.
It’s a nice place to pop in & just spend some time browsing & relaxing over coffee (or tea! Their selection was fantastic!)
Definitely put this on your ‘too visit’ list!

Only rating the coffee. Takeaway coffee was okay but not very strong and a bit milky. Will definitely return to shop there, just won’t get a takeaway flat white.

Don’t really have much to offer except observations. Had a camomile tea and it was real [not a bag] (big tick) in a big pot that didn’t drip everywhere (second tick). Layout and presentation throughout the shop is light, airy and pleasing to the eye. Great toilet with cloth hand towels (carried over from the Distracted days). Hand made cakes and goodies look sensational — home made crumpets ($ 6.50 for two, served with jam, honey and real butter — TICK). Even the slabs of banana bread, served warm with lashings of butter, looked great. Had to laugh out aloud when one patron, upon finishing his slab of aforementioned BB claimed «it was so bananery». Uh, yeah.
Free, fast WiFi. Tick.

Studio Bomba looks as much like a design studio as it does a modern coffee bar. Well, thats because it is in fact both these things! Aesthetics are the focus and attention to detail extends to the carefully crafted coffees, or so it appears. I’m afraid the creamy-​coffee looks had me deceived, because I found the brew to be star-​sacrificingly bitter. Redeeming the bad coffee is free wi-​fi and the neat display of treats for your afternoon slump. Sweet slices, cakes, and cookies the size of saucers, are all born from The Imp (Vic Park). In other words, you can count on them being delicious.

OK, Studio Bomba. I’m struggling to find a way to start this review without sounding like a gushing teenage Biebeler but I’ll give it a go.
Studio Bomba epitomises style, service and class. They are a true asset to Perth and deserve all the praise they have been receiving since they recently opened their new store.
Bomba have definitely taken it up a notch in their new digs, opening up a swanky café and taking their beautiful design sentiment to the next level. I was a bit sad to see Distracted leave their great Oxford Street spot but Bomba has done this place so much justice it’s hard to think of this spot NOT having Bomba there.
Leah and Angie are seriously the two most switched-​on, savvy and delightful business owners in Perth. You can see they make it their personal mission to make every single person that steps into their bright yellow door feel welcome. That is a really REALLY special thing. You can’t buy that kind of love for what they do and for their business. It makes me feel extremely loyal and attached to Bomba.
I have never not been able to find a birthday/​anniversary/​everything-​in-​between gift at Bomba. They cater to all price ranges and styles. I also recently got my engagement (yay!) invites printed with Mitchell & Dent (Angie & Leah’s printing company) and I could not be more happy with them if I tried. They were very well received by family and friends too so they can expect more business soon!
To make things even more overwhelming for me personally, the staff from the recently closed Cabin Fever have all set up shop at Bomba’s café so you can damn well believe the coffee is good.
I could literally go on for another 10 more paragraphs but I will zip my lip now and leave you to make up your own mind about Bomba.
There is no doubt you will love it.

On holiday in Perth: Studio Bomba, gimme all your stuff. My brother took me here on a pre-​Christmas present-​buying jaunt, and it was really hard to resist not buying everything for myself. Weeks later, I’m still thinking about that ridonkulous cat plate and wondering why my bro hasn’t posted it to me for my birthday, you know?
The owners at Studio Bomba are real sweethearts and they’ve curated their store beautifully… I only wish I was still around to see their brand new space just down the road from their original digs with the cute yellow door. I know I’ll be making a beeline for Bomba next time I’m in town!
(P.S. Bro, there’s still time to get me that cat plate.)

I am engaged. There I said it. It’s not a phrase that comes easily to me. Not because I don’t love my fiancé, I do. It’s just that I am the least bride-​y bride I know. I don’t like tulle. I despise lace. And I’m not particularly fond of sugared almonds. So it’s only natural that I fell in love with Studio Bomba as soon as I walked through the door. There’s not a wedding cliché in the place. Yet it is the closest thing to wedding mecca that a bride can find. It is a must stop shop if you’re on your way down the aisle.
Angela and Leah are two of the loveliest and most creative ladies on the planet. They can create anything your sugar-​deprived bridal brain can dream up. From invitations and thank you’s (printed on their old-​school printing press), to non-​wedding related stationary and gifts. And they are honest to boot. They are skilled in reining you in when you get swept up in wedding hype and your budget looks set to burst. I am sure they have been responsible for salvaging a few fiancé tiffs in their time.
Whether you are a bride to be, or just after some beautiful bits for you, a visit to the ladies at Studio Bomba is a must. Maybe I am more enthusiastic about this whole wedding thing than I gave myself credit for.

There’s a very Parisian-​meets-​Florentine vibe going on in Mt Hawthorn at the moment as I’ve spotted no less than three stores in the vicinity of a few hundred metres, each speciliasing in elegant customised stationery. Of the three I’ve discovered, Studio Bomba would have to be the most amazing and thorough in the sense of all-​you-​can-​need-​in special-​event-​stationery.
I chatted with one of the directors, Angela, who showed me an actual old-​school printing press that she and her business partner, Leah, utilise to create many of their unique stationery sets. These girls cater for any event you’re putting on, from birthdays to dinner parties to weddings. While they adopt elegant fonts and design styles for the more traditional events like weddings, they also like go a little postmodern with their style for edgier affairs, including corporate occasions.
Oh, and besides having a host of greeting cards, invitations, thank-​you cards, dinner placement cards, and more innovative media to help personalise your guests’ experience (eg: messages in a bottle, great idea!) the store boasts some beautiful homewares including cushions inspired by candy packaging, crockery in an array of pastel hues, and modern illustrative prints.
Love it.
